So lightweight yet sturdy enough to protect your feet from even the sharpest rock peaks. Love the wide toe box and thin footbed - you'll feel every tread you take, grip just where you want to grip and leap lightly just where you want to leap lightly, but without the impact you'd expect on your soleI now have to wear some type of footwear around the house as the hardwood floors are hard on my feet, yet I can hike miles and miles in these babies. Just finished the Presidential Traverse in the White Mountains - terrain is renowned for its technicality - with no problems and total confidence in their ability to keep me from sliding or losing footing. I've also hiked extensively in the west on sandy trails in these. They do not disappoint.

Thank you so much for bringing this shoe back to life! This is my 4th pair. It is the exact shoe from 2020!!!!! I'm elated:) I've been trying to find a substitute for the MT King 1 for the past few years since it was disconnected, but was never able to find one that fit the bill. You can not imagine my reaction when I heard of the return! In all my 50+ years I've never loved a shoe so much. For me it is perfect! Thank you!!! I would give it more then 5 stars if I could.

So far my favorite of all trail shoes I 've ever had. Love the ability to attach the gaiter directly to the shoe. No straps. LOVE THIS SHOE!

These shoes have run endless trails, hiked Big Sur, hiked Haleakala and more on Maui. hiked the Adirondacks, hike Death Valley, hiked Zion, and so so many other trails I love them. Sadly they have now officially earned their retirement. Thank god Altra makes the same model still, so I can get a worthy successor. R.I.P. Altra King Mountain

Perfect shoe for hiking. Wide toe box with snug fit with Velcro strap. Sticky Vibram sole. 19 mm stack provides some cushioning without losing a sense of ground feel. Please please please create a winter waterproof version of this exact last.

Excellent shoe for trail running and orienteering! My foot doesn't slip and slide around the shoe on uneven terrain, keeping the tips of my toes from getting beat up on steep downhills. It is a "minimal" padded shoe. Which I love about the shoe. But it does come with a disclaimer that the maximum distance I would comfortably wear them is a 50k trail race or about an 8 hour rogaine. Otherwise these are my Favorite trail shoes!

This is now my go to for technical/rock trails. For the first time I have a shoe that not only grips the rocks but also is very light and makes me feel I can dance over the technical terrain we have here. I love the ground feel yet don't get the same rock bruises that I get in my Lone Peaks. The Kings are narrower than I like but the toe box to midfoot is just wide enough while my heel feels nicely wrapped thanks to the Velcro strap. Only change I would like to see is a D width version for ultra runners with foot swelling!

I love these shoes! I've taken them trail running on dirty and granite and they've preformed great on both. They really impressed me after a 17 mile hike in the Seirra's, my feet felt great even with a 20lb backpack! Compared to the Escalate Racer, they are slightly narrower in the tow box, but they still provide enough room to be comfortable. I do wish the heel was slightly narrower, but the velcro strap keeps my heel stable enough to be locked in, blister free. All the little bells and whistles in this shoe really is the icing on top. The velcro strap not only keeps your heel locked in, but also keeps your laces from being snagged on brush, the toe guard is light weight and durable and the rock guard keeps my feet fresh on long hikes while still giving great feedback on undulating terrain. I will be repurchasing for sure, would love to see them come out with more colors

My favorite trail running and hiking shoe! I have had my previous pair for years, and couldn't bear to toss them because nothing else compared. I bought two pairs when I saw they were back!! Perfect!

King Mtn fan's are so happy you're back! We were devastated when you left! True to size, super grippy, and love the velcro. Keeps my laces tied. Now you just need more colors!

I started using this shoe for hiking. Now I use it for walking anywhere and everywhere. I was one of the King Mountain fans that pined for its return and can't wait for more colors and perhaps even the Spartan model to reappear. This is the most comfortable shoe ever made.

I am so happy they brought these back! These are my favorite shoes for technical trail running - they are the best. The velcro strap over the top of the foot helps a ton with foot stability.

This is my favorite shoe for long-distance backpacking and quite literally the only shoe I've found that doesn't cause my PF to flare up. Very grippy sole. Breathable. THANK YOU for bringing it back!

I love the grip. Took these shoes out for the first time on a serious scramble and they didn't budge on the rock. They're also more narrow at the back than the Lone Peak, which it great for me. I love them.

I have now run several trails in these and they really performed on the technical terrain well. I can't wait to try them on some true mountains soon! I expect the soles will be be ideal but we will see. I was excited as soon as I received them in the mail. I had intended to purchase another pair of Mont Blancs and I still will but I am glad to have these in my lineup.

I love my king mountains! My preferred hiking shoe, I size half a size up for any foot swelling on trail. Very grippy, no issues on slippery steep rock, I will be buying several more pairs and stocking up

Finally a shoe built for speed that won't squeeze your toes together. I damaged one of my toe joints competing in tight sprint spikes for years. I run fast with confidence in these, trail or track!

I am so grateful that the King MTs were brought back! These are the best trail shoes ever; Altra pulled out all of the stops on them! I love the low stack so you can really feel the trail, the Velcro strap which keeps your foot perfectly in place, and the more narrow overall fit to keep the foot from moving around. The grippy sole is my absolute favorite, and I am so excited to get after all the peaks now that I have my trusty shoes to keep up! I can't recommend these enough, and hope they will be available in pretty colors at some point (pink please!)

This is my favorite trail running and thru hiking shoe ever! I've tried to find a replacement with other altras/topo/norda/hoka w/no luck. Buying these immediately. Hate the drain holes but whatever. They are the perfect mix of space and support with a low stack height and reliable sole, they have been so reliable in the rough Canadian Rockies and California's Eastern Sierra. If you like Lone Peaks but want a little more stability and security underfoot, these are the shoes!

I actually screamed a happy shriek!!!! I'm an Arizona girl and these are the best shoes I've ever owned my whole life. They are my everything for backpacking, trail running, hiking....so so comfortable, stable and the tres is beefy. Takes an Arizona terrain like a champ. Grand Canyon R3. Let's go! We have our king MT!!
