I liked the shoe but the heel was too high in the back and caused uncomfortable rubbing so I returned them.

Absolutely loved these when I first tried them on. I have a very wide foot and need a deep heel. I usually have to go up a half size to accommodate my wide foot but with these shoes I didn't. The fit was so perfect and they felt so nice an light I immediately ordered two more pair. Unfortunately, after a couple days of wearing them at the gym, I'm less happy with them and have returned the two extra pair. Here's why... 1) These shoes are very difficult to get on. 2) There are both laces and a velcro strap. The laces constantly come undone so I have to make sure I keep them tied under the velcro which feels uncomfortable. I'm going to have to order some "no-tie" laces to solve the problem. 3) The lightness that I loved when I first tried them on turns out to be too light. There's just not enough structure or stability when you're actually jumping around. I haven't tried running in them yet. Maybe that will be better...

Good: these breath very well they are noticeable cooler than my lone peaks. The grip and toe guard excellent. They are very light weight and I love the low stack height. They lace very securely. Bad: They are way too narrow. I have worn regular width lone peaks for years and theses hurt my feet. I desperately wanted them to work but they push up the edges of my foot. The heel was also too loose and shallow. The material choice in the heal was also a mistake, it feels like it might have some grip when you touch it but in reality it was very slick. Ultimately the heel felt too shallow, low and wide. I am looking forward to the next version because it has potential but it is definitely not there yet.

Comfortable, good shoe. But Altra, why make shoes a billboard? Bright yellow "vibram" on toe. "Foot shape", "King Mt"x 2, " zero drop", "stone guard", "Altra ego" x 2, "Altra" x 2. So many words!

I run trails in alaska and often they are very muddy. im glad you reissued these! so far the grip is unbeatable and they arent too stiff. I wish the strap was longer. my high arches dont let it lock on.

This is my 4th pair of King MTs and I was heartbroken when they discontinued them. I was so excited to see it come back, but overall it is disappointing compared to the old. Strap is too short, fit is too tight.

When I read the description, I missed the part about the holes in the sole. I do a lot of trail running and I don't see the need for actual holes in the bottom of the shoe. I discovered the holes when I stepped in the tiniest bit of wetness and then the bottom of my foot was wet. Seems pretty silly. I'm also wondering how that's supposed to work in the winter runs when it's cold and wet (?). The traction is amazing! The toe room is adequate. Another issue is that I run mostly without socks. The inside of these shoes is nowhere near conducive to this. Overall I give them three stars. Maybe Altra has a different kind of user in mind with this specific design. If they got rid of the holes in the soles and perhaps made the interior of the shoe a bit nicer for barefoot-style running, I'd be on board.

Sadly these did not work for me...too tight across the arch. Also, did not have much cushion.

I've owned about 12 different pairs of Altras. I love the Lone Peaks (I'm on my 6th pair), Escalantes, and Torins. So, I thought I'd try the Kings because they have a Vibram sole and I love the looks of them. The shoe fits narrower than all of the other models, but otherwise feels like a pretty good fit. I was shocked, however, at how short the laces and Velcro strap are. I can barely tie the laces and the Velcro strap only reaches the middle of my foot. If I pulled the Velcro strap any tighter it would hurt the top of my foot. This seems so strange, considering that I don't have a terribly wide foot and all of the other Altra models fit my foot perfectly. I do love the comfort and colors of the shoe, but the short laces and Velcro are very problematic for me.

I have several pairs of Altra running shoes in size 7.5 but the 7.5 in the King Mt 2 were way too small. I returned them and got an 8 but the 8 is a little large. Not sure why there is such a big difference between the 7.5 and 8. I did keep the size 8 because the shoes have a very nice grip on wet surfaces. I just need to make sure I wear thick socks and pull the velcro tight. Not sure if I will get another pair of these or not due to the size issue.

Great style, great color, and very cool looking but too light, too flat, and not well-cushioned. The strap on the top is redundant. I wanted to keep them for certain gym classes but they are not cheap so I decided to return and bye Brooks.

I usually wear the Lone Peak Altras, but thought I'd try these out. I found them to be very stiff in the sole, too tight to get in without fully loosening the laces, and the added Velcro strap at the top probably helps with keeping the shoes from coming untied, but was actually just an annoying extra step in getting in the shoes.

My first issue was size: I'm usually a 7.5 but my toe hit up against the end of the shoe when moving. So up to an 8 I went! But then, the toe box was way too wide. I found myself gripping with my toes in order to gain stability (something I hoped would be mitigated by the mid foot strap). Worse yet, the HEEL. My heel slipped all over the place! Coming all the way out of the shoe on inclines (despite tight lacing, so tight of lacing that it would dig into where my ankle meets my foot - partially due to the flat tongue design). For me, the lack of structure in the heel was terrible. I was constantly turning my ankles and having trouble putting the shoe on because the heel would collapse. Furthermore, the zero drop consistently inflamed my IT band. They also showed signs of wear very quickly, after moderate trail and rock running / backpacking. The one benefit I found: they are SUPER light, which was great! Super breathable - also great (but also allowed a lot of dirt into my socks). But I loved the built in gaiter attachment. Ultimately I had to return the product, I really wanted to like Altras / the King MT 2!

I really wanted to like these shoes, but they were so hard to get on!!! Once on the were a tighter fit across the top than I like. I would have kept them, but getting your shoes on should be that hard. The heel kept folding over when I would try to put them on

I give these credit for moving the Velcro strap back to the arch of the mid foot and having better color choises. Overall these have been made significantly narrower than the 1.5, which is the only shoe I wear hiking. I am disappointed to say that I cannot wear these as my foot hangs off the side of the shoe and cramps my feet. Also my little toes get bruised from the constant pressure against the side of the shoe. I don't even have wide feet. I just have an average width foot. Please Altra if you are going to keep making these narrower and narrow offer a wide version for people with normal width feet. In the meantime I will have to buy all the 1.5 king mt I can find.

Traction is awesome on these. I took one step in an inch of snow and my wool socks were effectively soaked through. The "drainage holes" suction water into the shoe. Please fix this and make these with the narrow footbed and I'll be happy.

This would be the perfect shoe if it did not have drainage holes. The slightest moisture on the ground and now you're running with wet feet where other shoes would keep you dry. PLEASE offer this shoe without the holes or make the holes a one-way valve so they don't suck up water!!! The act as suction cups and draw in water more than they drain water. Blisters all around with wet feet!!
