I thought the 8 would be good but it really was too big. I may place an order for the 7.5. Nice weight and look of the boot.

these run a bit big - I’d go down a size

These are incredibly comfortable and they keep my feet dry. Hoping to by a second pair if my size becomes available.

I love these boots and would really like to keep them, BUT I just can't stand the crinkly noise. Every few days I put them on to walk around my living room hoping the crinkle noise will go away. Unlike what another reviewer claimed, it doesn't go away. It's loud enough that I think it would annoy anyone that I might walk with.

Very comfortable! Someone mentioned a crackle noise which I heard when I first pulled them out of the box but haven’t heard since I laced them up. Been wearing them all day. Love them! Ordered my normal size and have plenty of room for a heavy sock.

Super comfortable and light weight on the fit!

I'm a true 10.5 and these 10's felt really good on my foot even with thick socks! I haven't done a full hike in these yet but plan to in a couple weeks and I'm confident that my feet will be singing a praise chorus for these Chukka! Also LOVE the color (purple w/ salmon laces).

These chukkas are handsome and seem very well made and sturdy. Having worn them around several times now, I find them a *little* large but not a problem for me--nothing that tighter lacing or heavier socks can't fix.

I wish it had fit. I use a brace in my shoes and the tongue does not open to fit my foot and brace. But the boot is very well made and looks nice.

The size was fine but i found the toe box to be more roomy - higher and wider than any of my previously bought Northface and other brands of hiking shoes and thus too bulky and not neat enough. I am a size 9.5 shoe size and these looked like contractor / builder boots on me because the toe box was too round, too high, too wide, clumsy vs neat and so I will return them. I also found the ankle area less comfortable than other hiking boots I have owned and I lived in hiking boots for stability for many years after I broke my ankle so I know a thing or two about boots and comfort. They weren't that uncomfortable but I would not take them out on a long hike. The ankle did not have the support either of some of my other hiking boots - see the design and how it is essentially one piece vs many around the ankle.

These are very comfortable and keep my feet fairly warm. Giving only 4 stars because I order brown and I received grey.

These were very true to size. I usually take a 8-8.5 and I always order the bigger size in boots for thicker socks. I have hiked a couple peaks already and my feet stayed dry through the snow and mud. Wore them straight out of the box with no issues. The only reason I gave them 4 stars overall is they need one more row of lacing. Didn't notice on the way up but on the way down I felt a little too much movement that I think would've been alleviated by one more row. Most of all these are just good looking and functional hiking boots.

Please help with Danner sizing! I got the Gray Plum in 9 and Brown Cactus in 9.5. They are EXACTLY the same length. But the 9 (Plum) was too narrow across the ball of my foot and the 9.5 fits well. (I'm a 9 in street shoes but I wear a 10 in Merrell.) I've read reviews that sizing varied wildly between colors. That might be what is going on here, or maybe Danner uses half sizes just to go wider? Now I am curious to test 9.5 vs 10 or to test 2 colors in the same size. Sizing is confusing to say the least. The Plum shoe did not make the crinkle noise, but the Cactus shoe did. Is that because of the fit, or again a variation between the colors? Since the Cactus shoe fits, if I decide to keep it, I will have to hope the crinkle noise goes away but I'm not sure if it will. Overall these are very comfortable out of the box, if you get the fit right. I haven't yet hiked in them. They seem to have moderate support. By the way, the color of the brown vs grey leather is almost identical.

The toe box felt slightly too narrow for me. So bummed, because the shoes are soooo comfortable and lightweight. I returned them but would still recommend giving them a try.

These fit in length perfectly. I wear a 6.5 in Danner boots and this style in a 6.5 were the right size. The styling / construction is comfortable. The surprising feature was the mid section / bottom of lacing area is way too narrow. They are too narrow even with the thinnest of socks. Too much pressure on the top/mid foot area.

Loved the look, feel and style of these boots, but, sadly, I have hardware in my ankle and the boots come right on top the screw heads. I'm going to have to go for a low cut boot.

beautiful boot, but definitely smaller sized and narrow. i wear a 6 and had to get a 6.5.

I had the chance to test these out on moderate trails in RMNP. They are super comfortable, almost like a tennis shoe inside. The bottoms are grippy, and great for traction. They also look adorable with leggings and a sweater, or casual athletic wear. I will say the toe box is more narrow than I am used to (I wear birkenstocks Bend lows daily). But there was still room to move my toes comfortably, and to wear a thicker hiking sock.

I bought 4 pairs of hiking boots to try…these were by far and away the most comfortable right out of the box. No running, no stiffness, good grip, sturdy but not too heavy. I’m a solid size 10 in every other shoe, and the 9.5 danners fit me perfectly. These also look really good; I thought they were going to be dorky as hell, but they look sleek and classic. They’re a bit lower than many other hiking boots, coming just under the ankle, which worked for me (every other one chaffed something fierce).

I wear a size 6 but bought a size 7 in these boots and they were perfect in size and extremely comfortable. Wore them all day in and out of doors and the upper portion around my ankle did not rub.

True to size and comfortable right out of the box. Excellent grip and stability on a gravel/rocky trail and scree field in Colorado.

Love these boots! They were comfortable right out of the box. I've been wearing them since December in winter conditions and they still look good. And they're warm, but not too warm. I wear a 6.5 or 7 depending on the shoe - in this booth the size 7 fit me best with room for thick socks.

Very comfortable. Can take my custom orthotic. Lighter than most hiking boots so don’t look as crazy walking around the city. Color is really more green than gray.
