I purchased these boots for an upcoming late November trip to Switzerland. I was anticipating wet, possibly snowy conditions and knew that I would be doing tons of walking. Since I was packing light, it was important to find a single pair of shoes that would work for the whole trip and these boots answered the challenge beautifully as my only pair of shoes for 10 days. They were unbelievably comfortable, (right out of the box), sure footed, great cushioning in the heel, good support, light weight, (great for that dash through the airport to make a connection), and they looked nice with everything from pants/leggings to dresses. The size felt roomy but not sloppy. I was able to wear them with thicker socks comfortably. I would highly recommend these shoes.

I love my Merrell Encore Kassie mid boot. I tried the ankle and knee versions and other styles but they didn't work for one reason or another. I was so excited to see they came out with these. They are wonderful and I like them as well as my Encore Kassie. The arch support is only moderate, but my orthotics work with the removable insole. I wear a 6.5 and they fit perfect right out of the box even with socks and orthotics. They are really cute and I can't wait for cooler weather to start wearing them. Bought them now so I don't have to worry about not being available come autumn. I have multiple pairs of Keens, but they don't have enough arch support since I developed planters fasciitis. I've become a Merrell convert!

These booties are just what I was looking for. They are waterproof, made well and they have a removable foot bed, which allows me to put in my orthotic. They also have a low heel which suits me. They are super comfortable, I can wear them all day without pain, which I usually have from shoes I can't put my orthotic in. I ordered my regular size and they fit perfect. Only complaint is they are a little hard to get into. I might have to get a shoe horn. I love Merrells shoes for performace and comfort, I just wish they had a little more style, I almost returned them because I thought they looked a little boring but they are growing on me and I just can't give up the comfort of them.

For the most part, I loved the fit of this shoe. My foot is somewhere between a 7.5 and 8, really wide across the toes and REALLY narrow on the heel, which ended up being part of my problem. The boot fit great for length and perfect across the toes. Even the slip in the heel I thought I might be able to deal with if I put in heel grips. However, as I needed a boot that worked for hill climbing too, they were rubbing more around the top than I wanted to contend with. Had I just needed the boots for city walking, they would've been perfect --

I wear several sizes of shoes, from 8.5-10, depending on the company. Generally, I start with a 9. These are slightly bigger than Keen boots. (I bought one of each in order to decide which worked better for me. Keen was size 9 and Merrill was 8.5 for me. I have high arches and there is not enough support, so I had to remove the insert and use a different one. I have not totally decided on these yet. They are great with thick socks, but if I choose to wear a skirt with tights, the boots are just too large. I have to add a pair of socks to wear over the tights. So far, though, these are the most comfortable boots that I have tried on over the past few weeks. I have narrow ankles and there is a bit of wiggle room in that part. That being said, I still think that these are basically comfortable walking boots and I like the look as well. (I walk 5-7 miles per day and wanted to wear waterproof boots when I travel.) I will see how these hold up!

Super comfy!! I love chaco and Birkenstock arch support and this comes in just behind those. Not quite as solid an arch, but definitely a comfy footbed. I could walk anywhere in these! However, I was hoping I'd be able to wear these at professional meetings where you have to look nice and also be on your feet all day and they look like shoes I bought at the outdoors store. I think if the leather didn't have this matte finish it might be better, but in black I think they just look a little weird. My impossible search for the perfect black dress comfort bootie continues. Sorry about the dirty mirror.

Very comfortable boot and roomy enough for a heavy pair of socks. I bought them because I wanted a waterproof boot for traveling. Definitely met my expectations for comfort and dry feet. The reason I gave the boot an overall 3 star is because of the sole. VERY slippery sole especially on wet terrain. These boots are perfect for dry sidewalks but not wet cobblestones.

Nicely made shoe but didn't fit me very well. Toe box is roomy. Insole is removable and my orthotics fit. Top of bootie is quite loose, felt funny when walking. Even with my cushioned orthotics sole felt hard and uncomfortable. Decided to return.

Love the fit and style but the leather on the right shoe is distressed, wrinkled, and cracked. The left shoe is perfectly smooth? I am concerned the leather will not hold up on this expensive boot.

Love this boot..love that it is waterproof and it is comfortable right out of the box. The toe box is wide which is what makes it so comfortable, at least for me.

This is a fairly rugged leather boot. I plan to use it for winter wear and think it will be perfect. It fits in the classic Merrell style: wide and roomy in the toe. The heel is a bit wide and my heel lifts a little but the boot fits well enough at the ankle to keep the foot from pulling out The sole is light and flexible enough to wear the boots right out of the box.

hoping to replace my old waterproof merrells, these were a huge disappointment. quality is much inferior, not nearly as comfortable. these feel very stiff and rubbery. the old merrells had problems with their zippers breaking, but i have found a source for good quality waterproof zippers. i wish merrell would return to the quality they used to be known for instead of this race to the bottom.

*NOTE: I am re-writing my review. Please delete my previous review, as it seems part of a sentence was deleted and it didn't make sense. This is the new review: I'm thrilled that Merrell finally brought back a boot similar to the old Captiva and Tetra. I tried the short style they put out last year, and it was awful, but these are awesome. The foot bed is very comfortable and just roomy enough, and I was able to wear these right out of the box. The buckle is very cute, and the height is just right with skinny jeans. I ordered the brown, and they are a nice dark color, but with a rugged-looking finish. I'd love to see Merrell offer a similar boot only with a smoother leather that would look a little more refined or dressy. I am very thankful that I found these boots, and I will be ordering them in the black as well.

Great boots! I have a similar pair of Merrill's that I've had for the past 10 years (not kidding) and they are my favorite pair of boots. Needless to say they're looking pretty old. These boots look almost exactly like the old ones and are so comfortable already.

I originally ordered 7.5, as I have always worn in Merrells for years. I ordered black and brown - one pair of each. I was really surprised when they were both too small. And the weirdest thing was that the brown felt even smaller than the black. So I returned and ordered both colors in an 8. The brown felt fine, so I kept them, but the black were too big. I like the ones I kept, but what is going on Merrell? Did you change production to something cheaper? It’s disappointing because I have always loved Merrells and they have always been consistent and reliable up until now. I also loved the Haven Duo, and have never understood why they stopped making such a great shoe. These come close, but still not quite the same! All in all, I like what I kept, but I would’ve gladly kept the black too, had the sizing been consistent between colors.

Just got these out of the box and have been wearing them round the house to be 100% sure. The round toe and flat (though cushioned) arch & soles are great. I have wide feet and am usually between and 8-1/2/9 (tho closer to 9). The 9s I ordered are just loose enough for me to wear good thick socks and the waterproof coating will be perfect for the PNW. Yeah!!!

I bought these boots based on the look of them, and also on reviews. I did a 9 day tour of Rome and Paris, and I needed a comfortable, waterproof boot due to almost certain rains. These ARE COMFORTABLE, no question about that. Great support and easy to break in. However, the soles are like literal SKIS! I experienced not one but TWO falls on wet surfaces. one in Rome, and one in Paris. They are NOT safe to wear on wet surfaces, which really cancels out any benefit one would get from waterproof boots! I am sad to write this review -- mainly because of how comfortable they truly are. On a dry surface, they are great, but i am VERY lucky to not have broken bones given the falls I experienced with them.

Comfortable out of the box. Leather is nice, soft and of good quality. Very pleased with the purchase.

I love everything about this pair of boots! They were comfortable out of the box and withstood an entire day in the rain along the banks of a river. So happy to have them in my arsenal of weatherproof footwear! I also wore them walking around the city all day- conformable and cute with a pair of jeans!

I work in a casual office, and at lunchtime I've been going on a mile-long rugged hike. Wanted boots that could do both and look good in the process. These boots are very comfortable, and they work for the hike. Definitely not a real hiking boot, I can feel rocks under my soles and my feet slip forward inside them a bit on the downhills, but for my short hike they work great. Great traction in dry weather (haven't experienced wet yet). Since they're waterproof I can just wipe the dust off with a damp paper towel. I ordered my normal size and they're definitely a little on the large side, but it worked for me since I needed to replace the (moderately supportive) insole with one that has more arch support. They're not insulated at all, so you'll want thick warm socks anyway. I wouldn't say they're the most stylish boots, kind of plain, but they don't scream comfort shoes either. Not sure if they'll work with skirts but they're great with jeans and black pants.

I tried on six different pairs of boots - Ecco, Softt, Toms, etc., and these were the winners! They are easy to get on, have great support, a wider toe box so my feet don’t feel smooshed and I can wear warm socks with them. I’m pleased they are waterproof so I can wear them I snow. Great boot all around!!

These boots fit as I would expect for the size I ordered. I’ve only trialed them in my house but so far, my feet are comfortable in them and the toe box is wide enough that I don’t get cramps in my toes, which is my usual problem with boots. They don’t look geriatric for a comfort line of boots and seem to have good support in the soles. I’m hopeful they will be truly waterproof when I wear them on a trip, which was my reason for buying them.

The fit was perfect, as all Merrells are for me. I wear a 37. The leather is not smooth but don’t look too scruffy. They felt comfortable immediately and I wore them for a whole day walking around town.

I love these boots! As per usual with Merrell, the toe box is nice and wide. I even had the chance to already wear them out and about running errands after it snowed (ohhh Montana....) and they kept my feet warm.
