It isn't a gift but the new winter coat bought by mom to take to school in a cold climate. Regarding size, he typically wears a small in TNF but after trying it on, asked for an XS. However, the XS felt too tight for his chest so he decided to keep the small.

After spending a cold and bitter week in China - this southern CA native needed to find a parka. Something not regularly found in stores in the Southern CA area, I went on a quest to find this jacket one would never have to wear in Laguna Beach, CA. This fit the bill without breaking the bank. Fit felt nice, with out restricting movement. It's much bulkier than I expected, but that what you need when it's below 0 outside. It has a built in face cover that comes in handy to keep your nose hairs from freezing. I compared this to a Canada goose parka; which is trice as expensive. If I lived in say Chicago, then perhaps I would have spent a little more for the style. For a 1/3 of the price, I'm happy with this purchase

As noted, a good warm parka. Pretty big but I know tthat's probably characteristic of a parka... I purchased because of a trip to Canada. The black is a good color. Lots of easily accessible pockets. The zipper is hard to operate. I like the built in face mask feature a lot.

While I only gave this coat 4 stars, it really is an amazing coat. So warm, and very stylish. I have gotten tons of compliments on it. My biggest complaint is that the zipper is relatively small for such a large coat. With gloves on it is almost impossible to grab and zip up. The other is the size. I am a skinny guy, but fairly good height. The coat is a little large in the chest for me, but the length is good. Not overly puffy, but not quite the best fit. I know I could have returned the coat for a medium, but that could have been too tight I suspect. Either way, love the coat and will definitely keep it and recommend to others!

I bought it a few months ago and I love it. Very warm and high fashion with the hood.

Stylish and warm coat for heading to work in very cold temps and snow. Love the faux fur collar, length, and look, but it's a little big (any other coat I own from The North Face is a small and fits well).

The jacket was nice quality, it didn't fit right, too wide in the hips with no draw cord. I ended up trading it in at the north face store in mall of America for the same model in black but a size smaller. That is an absolutely amazing coat. If I went with a large black to begin with this would be a 5 star rating. Knocked a star off because it doesn't have the hip draw cord.

I like north face because the quality of items are good.

I generally wear this while walking to class. It has done a great job of keeping me warm this winter. My only complaint is that the zipper is terrible.

When out in the cold, I look around, and I know I have the best coat! All the others are freezing, I'm not...

Love the jacket. Never fails to keep me warm. The built in face mask was definitely a nice touch. If the breast pockets weren't so awkward to open the jacket woulda gotten the solid 5 stars.

Extremely warm in cold weather but a bit too heavy and bulky. I don't know why the zippers of the breast pockets are outside.

Great jacket. Is warm, fits right, and looks great. I really really love this jacket. However, there are some things that I would alter if I could. First and foremost: the zippers are terrible. They are so annoying to zip, I do not understand why TNF would produce a product like that. Additionally, I would like it if the collar came up a little higher to prevent out wind/snow from hitting my face. Rating: 9/10.

I think this jacket could be one of the warmest that I have ever worn - it's just very puffy given the amount of material inside - so it's a bit of a catch 22. I work in NYC and consider myself a bit more stylish and sleek so keep that in mind.

Very warm down coat and is waterproof. I can just wear a T shirt underneath this coat on a very cold day (20F). I wish this could be a bit slimmer. It runs one size larger. I usually wear medium, but have to wear small for this parka

The coat looks great and is clearly well constructed , outside of the bad zipper; however, the fit is somewhat unusual. The sleeves are a bit long but the cut for the shoulders and sleeves themselves are narrow and make the coat very tight also the hood is quite short and tends to want to pull your head back. I would recommend but definitely try it on in store or be prepared to exchange it...

The coat is super warm which is nice for the colder than usual weather we have been getting. It is comfortable and looks nice. The only minor downsides are that the zipper isn't all that easy to line up and zip which is also more difficult because of the thickness of the coat. The pockets on the chest are also difficult to use because the side zippers point away from the body instead of in so they are hard to reach.

Bought this purchase as a gift. He's normally a large, but that was too big and I had to exchange for a medium (coats tend to run on the bigger side). Overall, a solid purchase and a timely delivery.

Really like that jacket overall. Only issue is the zipper.

I wear it during the cold winter time . It does keep me warm , if you looking for a warm parka at the mid price then this is it ! Highly recommend it ! For the Zipper I didin't notice any problems like other buyer experiences . Over all very happy with the purchase !!!

I love this coat. It makes even the coldest Wisconsin weather completely bearable. My only complaint is the hood, which I've found hard to fit properly. Out of the box, the hood flops over my eyes. There is an adjustable drawstring on the rear of the hood, but so far haven't been able to get it to simultaneously fit well and be comfortable.

Amazing for the cold. It hit 5 and I was definitely warmin this jacket. The weather didn't faze me! Although the jacket did feel a bit bigger than me and I'm a 5'11 and I bought a M.

The fit of the coat was too large and boxy on me so I returned it.

This is a very warm jacket. However, it has one substantial flaw. The zipper is very narrow and the result is you waste a lot of time just trying to get the zipper done up. Forget even trying to do it with gloves on. I rarely write a review, but this one design error in my view, drives me crazy 3-4 times per day. Otherwise for the price a great jacket.
