Great design and features. Feels quite warm and I will be testing this winter in BC and or Alaska this winter, but my initial perspective it that of another quality design by TNF. As a side-note, I have been testing and wearing gear in all types of extreme weather and will update my final review accordingly.

This is an awesome parka! I bought it to withstand Chicago winters and indeed, though it may be freezing outside, I hardly feel any of it with this coat on. It is well built and I love the look. My only complain would be that I wish it was a little longer. I am 6'0, 220 lbs and bought the medium. It feels comfortable (though a little on the tighter side, ofcourse, I'm a big dude) but the length could be a little longer since that's the signature look of a parka.

I have yet to try this coat on a particularly cold day, but it seems very warm, and I expect it to last me a long time.

On the hunt for a warm winter jacket while living in Northern Europe which this jacket most definitely is. I am of broad shoulders but short stature. Unfortunately this jacket is too long for me.

the parka is extremely warm. i wore it for one day while it was in the upper 30's to the mid 40's and I was too warm. this would be great for days below freezing. i just wish all the zippered pockets are a little bigger. including the one and only inside pocket. it barely fits my Google Pixel 4 XL.

I decided that a parka coat for winter was needed and the north face was the brand. I picked this coat for the style as I already have the "puffy" style down filled north face coat that hadn't let me down for six years. But again I was ready for a little more and a change of style, this coat has not disappointed, it's superior quality I believe will last a long time it's as advertised very comfortable, warm and I love the extra pockets. The only small complaint is as a medium size coat it runs a little big on me ( but I don't mind)

maybe its been this jackets designed intent from the beginning (mcmurdo lll) but other brands offer more features. seems as though this jacket should have more interior storage and a drawcord at the waist, if not at least at the hem. internal wrist cuffs could be nice, but without them this gives you more options for creating ventilation. id prefer a wind skirt or drawcord at the waist, and more interior storage is more practical for a parka.

Loose fitting - kind of baggy for slimmer folk
Extremely warm - have not tried in sub zero temps but single digits it holds up great
Waterproof - plus!
Windproof - plus, plus!

It fits well, keeps warm, and has a certain fashion. The hat doesn't feel very good, and everything else is good.

It's the second insulated jacket that I try buying from TNF but it seems that the sleeves are always just designed to be way too short given the size of the trunk. Returning

Overall great jacket, my second McMurdo. My first McMurdo is perfectly usable many years later and has held up well; I just grew out of it. My new McMurdo seems equally fine, if not just a little bit lighter and less insulated, but although I have not yet used it in extremely cold weather, it looks up to the task anyway. My new one needs drawstrings around the hood, waist and hem to make it better. The hood is useless without it because it just flops down and when it's up it obscures all vision except straight ahead. The main zipper is problematic on both jackets; it's black hard to see especially on my dark blue jacket. When it's super cold outside you want to zip up immediately, not struggle to find and use it. Sleeve lengths are good and the jacket length is just right, except it's difficult to shovel snow when fully zippered. It's not a perfect jacket, but none are and all things considered is reasonably priced compared to more "fashionable" fad labels out there. It does the job where it's supposed to and is durable and waterproof. I found the sizing to be right on both jackets. I would recommend it based on my long experience with the jacket.

I chose to purchase this coat per a recommendation from a TNF associate at my local store for activity in 20 and below temperature. I went to Norway a few weeks ago, and though it wasn't as cold as I was expecting, the jacket did keep me warm in the 30 degree climate. The multitude of pockets were great and helpful a variety of times for storage and for keeping my hands warm. The waterproof design was a plus when I experienced heavy snowfall. I did notice some flaws with the parka.. When it was windy, the hood did let in the wind/air, as someone else had noted the snap-on points of the hood. The hood also was constantly blown off my head in strong wind, and it was hard to keep it on without physically keeping it in place with my hands.

Zipper broke. Cost $100 for a high quality yyk replacement.
Well worth the extra money.
Best winter coat I've ever owned.

Jacket is great with a few minor exceptions (may be major for some). Hood is removable, but the zipper attaching it is half length, so there are gaps where wind will penetrate through and hit the back of your neck. A full zippered hood would have made it windproof, not sure why TNF skimped on that. A scarf may fix this issue, but the neck area is very tight fully zipped, does not leave much room for accessories. Overall I can work around that or not use the hood. Second issue, pocket placement is horrid. Other than the lower pockets (dual compartment, which is great!), the chests and arm patch pocket are unusable. Arm patch pocket is in a weird high position where your right arm can't really reach comfortably and uses a button flap instead of zipper, needs to be lowered. I had a Gotham I jacket and the position on that one is perfect. The chest pockets, awkward to have zippers on the outside near the arms, you cannot reach it with either hand effectively. Zippers should be on the inside near the chest like my Gotham I for utility, nobody is going to use those as hand warmers as suggested by design. Overall a good jacket but not perfect due to ergonomics and minor design choices..
