I wear these boots WHENEVER I go outside this winter. The grip is great. Having suffered for a couple of months with a twisted ankle due to snow on ice decided to get boots that would support ankles and grip. They look good enough to wear to church, and I did. Safe and cool looking......what a combo! I will be buying another pair of thermo/gripping but pull on Merrill boots and will send them to my Father.

Initial comfort 10/10. Strong arch support. Wore entire day with second pair of socks (for cold weather) and comfort remained at 10/10. Have yet to test in -30 degree weather. Very agressive tread pattern which should conquer most winter conditions. I am impressed with these boots so far.

everything is good but the top two hooks are too narrow for the shoe lace to lodge in properly. Just something minor... not to worry too much about.

Got these as a present from my wife. I picked them though, based on my Kiel of Merrell products and the reviews. I wasn't really disappointed. The fit is a little snug for a medium 12, but I don't need thick socks with these boots thankfully. My one issue issue is the lace hooks at the top. They're far too tight for the laces that come with the boots to fit into. I had to file the openings a fair amount and smooth them out to allow the laces to fit, and even then it's annoyingly snug. Other than that, these are great boots. Hopefully merrell will fits the lace hooks, as that's the only con that I can see with these boots.

Very comfortable, warm , great traction the one thing is the lace hooks at top of boot are to small its very difficult keep tongue it right place and hook lace in boot hooks, i hope it gets easier when boots are broken in more perhaps

Once again Merrell did an excellent job on an outdoor boot. This boot provides confident traction and warmth. The only complaint I have is that the foot bed is not as comfortable as previous boots from Merrell I have purchased in the past. Also, if you have a wide bridge I would consider sizing up. I usually wear a US men's size 14 but I went with the 15 here and it is working well. But otherwise, a great boot!

Took them out for a couple miles in slush, snow and ice. They are comfortable and slipping was kept to a minimum. These are better than standard hikers in the frozen stuff but don't expect miracles on ice. If cold ice they do pretty good but wet ice is still hazardous. Nothing can surpass spikes on ice. I think they could do more with the tread. Some sipes and perhaps smaller blocks might be better. I will see how they hold up. For more traction there are the spiked tracks but I bought these boots to see if I can do without. They will be good for 80% of the conditions.

These boots are great - warm, dry, very comfortable, never had a sore spot - not even once. But the sole has separated several times. I have used contact cement to do multiple repairs - this needs to be addressed by Merrell.

The boots themselves are excellent. However, the shoelaces that came with the boots were so thick that it was impossible to fit them in the hooks, making it impossible to tie the boots. This was easily fixed by buying new shoelaces, but things like this should not happen with a product in this price range.

Bought these boots approximately November 2021. Extremely comfortable and fit great. I can wear them all day with no issues of my feet hurting. Wore them during first snowfall of fall 2022 in Alberta and my toes got wet from the top. Always tie them up the same way. Dried them out and tried again taking extra caution lining up the tongue and still leaked from the top. My toes getting wet is extremely disappointing. I'm ex military and alway look after my boot, keeping them clean and conditioned.

These are warm and comfortable. I like that they have a gaiter D ring, but not having an actual heel with a gap renders them useless using gaiters with the heel strap.

These are indeed great Winter transportation. One problem is that they also bring your trip to a sudden halt when the laces engage the side eyelets (3mm opening) and bring you crashing down. Not a problem in the living room (just a shoulder bruise) nor on a snow covered walk (lightly padded), but could be an issue "outdoors" in more adventurous places. We solved it by cutting the bottoms off some trail socks and using the tops as a "gaiter" to cover the eyelets. Never had such a surprising flaw in all my years with Merrells, and will continue to buy the brand, but maybe "accessorize" them?( And no, the eyelets cannot be compressed to a smaller opening; they're too well made!)

These boots are good for shoveling the driveway or around town but not supportive enough for actual outdoor activities like hiking. Five stars for warmth factor in 20 degrees F, but one star for hiking support. After a short winter hike on snow, rocks, and rough trails my feet and ankles hurt.

Very nice looking boot and warm. Sizing definitely runs small. I would look at 1/2 to 1 size larger. Especially if wearing thick socks. I ordered 9.5 and should have gone to 10.

I bought this shoe a week ago and the fit seems good and they're comfortable to wear. However the laces are too thick for the hooks and just don't stay tied. I don't understand how they'd not see such a glaring flaw in their product.

Order 1/2 size larger and should have gone 1 full size larger. Can these be stretched?

White mould started to grow in one of the shoes. I clean it everyday doesn't go away, today I found it is inside the toe cap.

This shoe is very awful and bad! The material is good, but the part where the shoelace should be placed is very tight, and if you want to change it, it will break, and in that case, they will not take it back from you!!!

Warm and comfortable boot with a good grip on slippery surfaces. However, the laces do not stay in place within the 2 metal clasps on either side of the top of the boot. The clasps are either too small to accept the lace or the laces are too thick. As a result, the laces repeatedly dislodge from the clasp and come undone. They are also more difficult to tie up as well. Because of this major fault I would not recommend this boot. I have asked for a refund.

As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the top 2 ankle eyelets are the wrong gauge hole so the lace does not fit through them at all. This means boots can not be correctly tightened and it allows ingress of rain/mud/snow/ice. Making the boots useless at this means cold/wet/frozen feet. This fault is on all 4 eyelets on each boot. 8 in total. Boots received Nov25'22 this fault also means its impossible to correctly tighten the boots so heel/sock errosion and blistering from friction results.

They run super small! Upsize at least a full-size.!
