These base layer bottoms sre so versatile! They are comfortable and keep your body temp even all day.
When I go ice fishing, skiing, snow mobiling, or snowshoeing, these are the baselayer I use.

Love the way they fit. Nice comfortable waistband . Great quality. I wash them gentle and separately and line dry to keep them looking new.

I use these pants for running in anything that feels like below 30 degrees (Windchill has been to about 10 degrees so far this season) and they have been wonderful at keeping my legs warm without being itchy. I'd recommend for all outdoor activities. I love the zippers on the bottom for ease getting on and off. I would say they are mid to low rise compared to other leggings I own but I've had no issue with sagging or being able to comfortably tuck in a top layer while running.

I am cold most of the time but when winter arrives in upstate NY it is uncomfortable. My new Smart Wool liners are fantastic! They are thin enough to fit under my pants and add that extra warmth. I did get 250 and they do not seem too warm.

These baselayer bottoms (long johns) are super soft and cozy and have a very nice color (I ordered the woodsmoke heather). They do run long-ish so if you have short legs they might bunch up at the bottom, but all in all they fit well even for gals like me with lower body muscles (read: booty). They are great for working or playing outside in cooler than 40 degrees.

I am a wilderness field guide and I wear these under a pair of fleece soft shell pants for 8 days outdoors. The wool is the perfect baselayer for days when the wind is chilly and the sun is behind the clouds. They dry quickly and theyre warm to wear as a base layer under rain pants too. Don't leave your smartwool clothes outside over night to dry.. the mice and moths will totally eat them up and destroy them! We aren't the only beings in the woods who love Smartwool!

I'm really enjoying these bottoms along with the base layer shirt I bought from Smartwool recently. They are very soft and comfy, keep me warm at night while camping, and fit great.

I wear these 24/7 (I have 3 pairs). They are the softest most comfy ones I have. Love the gentle non constricting waistband. And the non banded ankles. Love love

Purchased for base layering - skiing and regular winter wear. First time to purchase Smartwool - was absolutely surprised by the quality, fit and feel of the product. We are sold on Smartwool!

My go-to base layer pant for winter sports (ice-climbing, cross-country skiing, hiking, snowboarding). Nothing else I've tried comes close to matching Merino wool in thermal regulation during exertion in cold temps. I'm the right temp when I'm sweating, I'm the right temp when I'm standing around belaying. Love the feel of these pants. The waist band is high enough to not sag down my butt below my snow pants when I'm moving. Sizing- I'm a 5'4" woman, 135lbs, the M fits great- form-fitting with margin to move and bend. #sweepstakes

I Nordic track skied this weekend in Crested Butte, CO. The temperature was negative 14! Theses bottoms along with the SW long sleeve top I stayed toasty warm! They were worth every penny and more!

Smartwool base layers are the best! As a groundskeeper for over 45 years I've tried just about every base layer on the market. I work outside year round in Wyoming, many times with the temps below zero. In my opinion Smartwool base layers can't be beat! The fit is amazing, a flat band waist that doesn't bunch or pinch, material that doesn't sag, bag or bunch at the butt, crotch and knees (even after wearing for a week at a time) and you can't beat the longevity, this new pair is replacing my 5 year old pair that is still wearable. These keep me warm even when I am soaking wet and it's cold. Did I mention they are cuddly soft? I will buy these again and again and again.

These complete my ski outfit every year. My daughter keep stealing them and that's why I keep rebuying them. Keep me warm and so comfy you really don't think about them all day skiing. You are warm and movement is not hindered a bit.

I use this product mainly as a base layer for under my ski bibs - they're comfortable, dry quickly, maintain warmth, and I can move easily in them when skinning up a hill. They're my go-to pair and definitely want another pair!!

I wear them everyday, wash buses for a living so I'm damp, in and out year long. They are good, but if you snag them or they just decide to come apart in a spot, they run. I'had three and I get a bit over two years out of them, just enough to miss warranty. They all tended to self destruct in the crotch area first. Don't know why but you have to wear pants with the for obvious reasons. Other than that, they are great.

I absolutely love this base layer. Very comfortable, warm and wicking. Truly the perfect layer. The fabric is substantial and it seems quite well made. Fit is great.

I ordered merino wool base layer bottoms from all the major companies that carry this type of product and hands down Smartwool's were the best. I returned all the rest and bought two colors from Smartwool. The waistband area is all merino wool and carefully crafted for movement with how they sewed the cut and seams whereas other were just an elastic band on top of the leggings creating more sagging in the crouch and less comfort around the waist. I bought a small and extra small and ended up keeping the extra small because of how much the wool gives, so though it was tight at first, in the long run it is more form fitting. The smalls became too baggy. For reference I am 5'2"/114#/25' waist and typically wear smalls in pants, so this was a downsize for me. My build is also more athletic like, not stick figure and not pear shape, so downsizing worked for my body type. I definitely recommend Smartwool leggings over any others. Hope this helps!

Smartwool sent these as a replacement for a pair I bought last year. The old pair had a weirdly designed waistband that was driving me nuts. They honored their guarantee promptly. This new design is absolutely perfect! The waistband sits flat and at a perfect height for layering. I live in Seattle and wear a base layer from October through June: under jeans, slacks, hiking pants, snow pants, work pants...even under other tights. These are incredibly comfortable and warm in our damp climate. I liked them so much I bought a second pair.

Very warm and comfortable! I am 5'3 and 150lb and got a size medium. Fit better than i thought. As in not too tight or anything.
