They may look like prescription, orthopedic, mammoth shoes, BUT they are like walking on a cloud. I love the way the propel your foot from toe to heel. Very impressed.

I have a wide foot and have been running in a variety of New Balance 2E width shoes as well as Altra Torins which are naturally wide in the forefoot. I thought I would try something different after having heard of Hoka. Did a little research and settled on the Clifton 6 as my next shoe and so far I am very happy with the choice. The shoe is extremely wide with lots of room in the toebox. The toebox also seems to be higher in these shoes than other wide shoes I have worn. The cushioning is just great. As soon as I was walking around the house in the Clifton's I was sold on the comfort. I also like the 5 mm drop since I have been running in shoes either with 0 drop or 4-8 mm; the lower the better. The low drop helps tremendously with Morton's neuroma pain. Will probably get another pair. Can't vouch for durability yet but I don't expect any problems.
I'd also recommend:

I wrote an initial review when I first got these about how comfortable they are and now after about 2 months with them I'll never go back to any other brands for running shoes. The Clifton 6's have everything I need in a running shoe. Really comfortable, supportive, and overall just don't hurt my feet. I've been recommending these to everyone.

I had run in minimalist shoes for many years. Recently, it felt like recovery was slower and nuisance pains/strains were more frequent. I wanted to try something with more cushion, but was leery of buying something to heavy. I've known about Hoka One One for a long time, but had only recently found their color schemes muted enough for real consideration. I went on the website, answer some questions about the size of shoe I typically run in, and ordered my first pair of M Clifton 6. When they arrived, and I put them on for the first time, I was slightly alerted at the height of the arch (I have very flat feet); but I was still eager to try them out. My first run was a on a tread mill, and I found that the shoes very quickly adapted to my foot -- they felt great. It's been three weeks now, and my runs have continued to be great. Legs feel fresh during and after runs, and those little twinges of pain/strain have completed disappeared.

Love the shoes this is my second pair. They feel so good that I feel like I'm walking on a fluffy cloud. Was at a track meet over the weekend and these were spot on. Great support to my feet and lower back. Absolutely love them.

Retired school teacher who runs 35-40 miles per week, and whose wife allows him to replace his runners every 800 miles. First wearing, I noticed the toe box is a bit deeper than 1-5, but some fidgeting with the laces and all was good. Three weeks and 118 miles later, still the best Cliftons. Just a great shoe.

I usually wear 11 1/2, but I ordered 12 because of the reviews I had seen of Hoka shoes in general, that they run a little small. I think that was the right choice. I wear inserts, and I'm wearing them with the Hoka shoes--again the right choice. I've only had them a day, and I think they will take a little getting used to, because of the front-to-back rolling motion, but I don't think that will be a problem long term.

I'm a heavier runner at 5'10 and 200 + lbs. I run about twenty miles per week and had habitual issues with micro tears in my calf. It was very frustrating and deflating to my program. After trying every high-end road shoe out there, I learned about the Hoka brand. I purchased my first pair of Clifton 3's several years ago and never looked back! I have been injury free since (knock wood) and look forward to getting into a pair of Clifton 6. It's a great neutral stability shoe and the cushioning is spot on. I highly recommend this shoe for anyone who is experiencing lower leg issues associated with running.

Started doing 1/2 Marathons about 12 years ago on other brands and would have to ice knees after training and hips would be sore. Then started running a little which made things worse. Discovered Hoka about 9 years ago and changed everything. Rarely ice anymore and aches and pains much reduced. Now if I can find a fountain of youth pill. I will turn 70 this year. Converted at least 3 friends.

Very uncomfortable until you get them broke in ( 3 x 3 mile runs for me) then they are the most comfortable pair of running shoes I have ever wore. I used to wear brooks and had lots of foot and leg pain. Once i switched to hoka all that pain went away

I originally purchased the Clifton 6 a half size larger due to reviewers stating that they ran a little small. That was unnecessary. I had to exchange them for my actual shoe size because the extra half size was too loose. The toe box is wide enough for me in the medium width and I have a bunion on my left foot which is a deal breaker in many shoes. They are light and comfortable. I should probably buy a few sets of these before they change the style again.

This is my first purchase from Hoka. I have had other brands of running shoes in the past. I chose this shoe specifically because it's as if the shoe somehow springs me into my next step. Very comfortable!!

First off, I measure as an average width true size 10.5. These shoes fit great true to size. YMMV if you're a wide or narrow width. I tried these, the Clifton 1 retro, and the Rincon. Of the three, I definitely felt like the Clifton 6 was the best. The fit compared to the Clifton 1 was supremely better with the Clifton 6. The upper one the 1 felt very loose, while the length was true to size making for a very awkward fit. If you have a high volume foot, maybe this wouldn't be an issue for you. But for me, the 6 had the extra lace hole for heel lock lacing too and in all ways just felt like a better fit, where as the 1 felt way too loose and made for awkward lacing and also did not have the extra lace holes, while you can maneuver heel lock lacing without the extra holes there felt like way too many compromises for me. In terms of cushioning, which was my main concern the Clifton 6 felt far more plush than the 1 or the Rincon. The 1 was shockingly stiff compared to the 6 and all the reviews I had seen had me expecting it to be the same, if not better than the 6. Not the case, that alone was a deal breaker for me especially with the 6's upper more aesthetically pleasing to me (in all black). Compared to the Rincon, the upper felt more substantial and sturdier. Where the Rincon felt flimsy, and not as supportive- that said, the Rincon upper was fine and fit fine as well. I had seen the Rincon cushioning compared to the Nike Epic React, but I did not feel like it was any where near as comfortable or offered the same energy return and compared to the Clifton 6, it felt significantly more stiff while not offering a great energy return in my opinion.
TLDR: Clifton 6 is better than the Clifton 1 or the Rincon.

Ordered these after running in neutral shoes for years. These are by far the most comfortable to run in! They didn't need any breaking in out the box. They are soft to landing while still feeling extremely fast. The all white option looks great as well.

I use these as around town, work, and recovery from long hikes and trips to mountains. When my feet, legs, knees, back, are sore from a hiking trip, I put these on, and magical healing takes place. I've only jogged in them once. Comfortable no doubt. Although for running, I still prefer the Bondi 6. A champion on its own.

I am always in search of comfortable shoes, and most times I am disappointed. Somehow I seem to find shoes that provide cushion that focuses on the heel and not so much on the ball. The Clifton solved my problem! I find these shoes provide an overall cushion from toes to heel...and makes walking/running pleasurable again. I am now a Hoka convert.

I needed a wider athletic shoe. So many are slim and wides are too wide. This shoe fits great.
