The new Wave Rider 23s definitely run smaller and narrower than the 22s. Based on the other review, I decided to try the wide style in my usual size 9 (running shoe size). I ordered 9D. The fit is smaller than a new, as of day of arrival, extra pair of unworn Wave Rider 22s that I had on hand. So, I've had to return the Wave Rider 23s. For reasons explained below, I think I'm going to try a different brand and/or different model rather than size up in Wave Rider 23. Based on how tightly the 9s fit, I think I would need a 10 for width and then they would be much too long.
I've been running in Mizuno Wave Riders for several years. Has been my go-to shoe for mid-distance road running (3-7 miles ~ 4x per week) after giving up on Asics several years ago. I guess I'm glad I'd bought the extra pair of Wave Rider 22s during summer sale. I had stocked up, in case new styles didn't work for me as I've ramped up my mileage planning to do a half marathon in about a month. Alas, I'm having a foot issue in the Wave Rider 22s, now, due to what appears to be slightly wider feet due to increased mileage. My toes seem cramped so I'm looking for something new for the longer runs. The 23 toe box is definitely smaller than in the past.

I’ve worn this shoe in its various versions for 15 years, this one is small! I will be reordering a half size up... hopefully that works!

These sneakers feel as if I've owned them for years! No breaking them in, no blisters, great support, and they make running a joy! I highly recommend them!

I have been purchasing Mizuno Wave Riders for almost the past decade and LOVE them. For running #1- but also shopping, errands, and daily wear. I am very happy I listened to the reviews and did not order just my regular size but also 1/2 size up to try both on. Other reviewers - THANK YOU - you were spot on - definitely needed the half size up for this one. Only have a few miles in on these - but so far so good - holding up as usual.

Regarding the fit of this shoe, in all other athletic shoes, I wear a size 9.5 or sometimes a 9. I have an older pair of Mizunos, and those were a size 10. Based on other reviews, I ordered a size 10, and they fit as expected. My opinion is that Mizunos in general run small, but if you have experience with this brand, stick with your regular size. I ordered the medium width, as I have average width feet, but I do have significant bunions. I loosened the laces a bit, and these seem fine. The style is great, and for once I don't feel like I have giant clodhoppers on the end of skinny legs!

As other reviews mentioned, these run 1/2 small. I did listen, and they fit perfectly. Thanks, Zappo’s for all my “goofs” in my ordering. It’s not the shoes most of the time, but my back and legs. I’m finally understanding under and over pronation! Thanks for letting me try, hassle free, different shoes and helping me choose the perfect pair!

Mizuno continues to build upon its great tradition with its latest model of the Wave Rider. This is a sharp looking shoe! I immediately was drawn to the latest color schemes; this shoe in particular is sporting a charcoal gray body, with a silver Mizuno logo, and white outsole-I can definitely wear these out casually as well as while running. I'm traditionally more of a stability shoe runner, so this neutral shoe will be a good opportunity to see how it compares to other stability models as well, including the beloved Mizuno Wave Rider 15. Out of the box one can tell that this is a sleeker shoe than most stability shoes and its predecessor; noticeably lighter with a lower profile, yet still maintaining a similar stiffness and durability. Not much has been dramatically changed according to others following the Wave Rider 22; it seems that the 23 will be simply an improvement in the details of an already great tradition of a model, but the sleeker profile is attractive. Let's put it to the test!
I was super excited to get out on the roads and trails with these shoes. Right away I notice a lighter, sleeker, and closer to the ground feel than the Wave Inspire, which is a friendly change. I was impressed with the reputed Wave technology; it allowed for a noticeable structure to the shoe, while also feeling light and free. I was able to get out mostly on the roads with these shoes in hot, dry conditions, and occasionally I was able to jump on some dirt and gravel trails, including a twenty mile run. Verdict: the shoe performed wonderfully! There was plenty of stability for me even during the long runs, and I thoroughly enjoyed the comfort and lighter feel of these neutral training shoes. The neutral daily running/trainer designation for these shoes is spot on; passing with flying colors!
For someone that favors more structure and stability in their run, for someone that seeks a responsive, low profile ride, or for anyone in between, I would highly recommend this shoe.

I recently purchased these Mizuno's back at the end of March in preparation for a half marathon in May. I love these shoes. These shoes are light and comfortable and fit my feet well and are the only running shoes I have ever worn. HOWEVER, I have one complaint. I have had these shoes for less than 3 months and the top of both feet (near the toes) have worn through already! I am not very pleased with this aspect of the shoe, however, I have never had any other issues before.

Like others, I had to size up. My Wave Rider 21s were the perfect running/walking shoe - size 8, medi7m width, was perfect (I wear a 7 or 7.5 in street shoes with a high arch and slightly narrow foot), great colors, absolutely perfect fit and feel, even great stretchy laces. The Wave Rider 23 is so disappointing. The fit is off, as others have noted. I had to go up to an 8.5 which has too much room in the toe box on one foot. The nice bar across the toe on the 21 is gone. The laces are cheap. The colors are unattractive. I searched and searched the internet for a 21 in my size - no luck. It’s the same greedy, unnecessary forced obsolescence game that tech companies play - “improvements” for no reason. I’ll keep the 8.5s but overall I’m really disappointed in the manufacturer and the product. I don’t love this shoe, though I really, really loved the earlier model. Please bring back the features and fit of the Wave Rider 21.

I bought my mizuno tenis for second time. I recommend it enterly! They're comfortable, fits perfect, and have been protect my feet during my high intensity workout. Also, my Wave Rider 23 are nicer and more modern than others brands.

Mizunos are my favorite shoe for walking. I get the wide because the shoe runs more narrow, perfect for the other family members.

After trying numerous pairs of running sneaks I decided on these. Close second was ASICS Gel Nimbus, but the Mizunos were cut lower around my ankle bone which swells up at times post heal fracture surgery. Could be more stylish but I only walk/jog inside on treadmill so not important. Nice cushioning around foot and tongue. Needed to go up a full size as they run small.

I've bought Mizunos before and I personally need to buy a half size larger than I would in the Brooks Ghost running shoe. I also need to buy it in a wide width. Knowing this, they fit great and are very comfortable right out of the box. I use these shoes for distance running outside (about 20 miles a week) as well as in conditioning type classes doing sprints outside and on the treadmill. I need a neutral shoe with some cushion and these work great. I alternate between Mizuno and Brooks and find them pretty equal.

Love these shoes... This is my second and third pair that I bought together. I typically wear an 8 but had to exchange for an 8.5. Customer service was fantastic with the exchange!

Love these shoes! This is the 5th pair of wave rider shoes I have bought over the last 4 years. I wear them at work where I am on my feet for 12 hours. Between these shoes and compression stockings I have no leg or foot pain!
