Customer Reviews New Balance Fresh Foam Vongo v4

These were a new NB style for me and were suggested to me because my feet underpronate. The foam cushioning is noticeable but not spongy and the shoe fits very well now that I exchanged them for a half size up. I'm typically a 9W but when they arrived the width was fine but my toes were squished. After very quickly receiving my second pair, I took these babies out on the trail today and hiked a good four miles with no issues and no time needed to break the shoes in. I genuinely forgot I had new shoes on. So far I'm very please with my purchase, Zappos excellent customer service and exchange response time and though the price is a bit hefty, I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a second pair in another color.

The NB Vongo V3 is prob my favorite running shoe of all time. When it wore out, I assumed to replace it with the V4. However, the new sock design changes the feel of the shoe quite a bit. I tried many other brands (Hoka, Saucony, etc) and still ended up with the Vongo V4 even though it’s less that optimal for me. The firm thick cushioning just can’t be beat! I find it’s most comfortable without socks that would get bunched up. Hope the V5 is a bit better.

Returned because too short. Ordered a half size bigger in a different color and fits great.

I really like this shoe. The soles are not heavy and give a lot of cushion. There’s a built in sock that takes getting used to. I find that wearing them with no socks works best. I might try them with compression knee highs for work when it gets cold.

I love the styling of this shoe. However, I felt the 8.5 Wide was a little tight on my right foot which was confirmed when I tested it out on a fast-paced 45 min walk on my treadmill ... ended up with a blister on my heel. The heel of the shoe was cutting inward. So I ordered the 9 Wide ... and so far it is okay. My feet are weird though - wide at toe base, narrow at the heel, and high arched. I should mention that I also change out the inner soles with special arch support insoles by New Balance ... who knows ... that could have been my problem all along but the insoles that come with the shoe are inadequate.

Too narrow for my foot. They initially felt great but walking around the house I realized they were definitely a bit too tight. I like the style. Nice cushion. I have one foot bigger than the other. Normally I wear a size 11.5 to accommodate that. So these must run a tad larger because the length seemed to work on the larger foot.

I generally love sock-fit running shoes. I hate when the tongue ends up to the side, etc. This sock opening is a bit tight. Otherwise they’re cute and comfy.

i have a high arch, and could not comfortably get the shoe on my foot.

Almost a perfect shoe, feels stable for my pronated feet, but the deal breaker is the too soft fabric that isn't able to contain my toes from pressing painfully into the edge of the sole. I am SO disappointed.

The tongue of the shoe came up to the top of my ankle which for me causes blisters so I had to return. The cushion felt amazing though.

Cute and kinda funky looking shoes. The foam is so comfy, but the elastic top pinched my foot. Overall these run large and look oversized.

I really wanted these shoes to work for me. I got my usual 9.5 and they were not roomy enough in the toe box. But otherwise felt good. I ordered the 9.5 in wide and they felt much better but there was some kind of defect in them because something was poking at my heel. I’m returning them again.

These sneakers were tight on my feet. Not sized wrong, just a little smaller than all the other 9 1/2 sneakers that I tried on. The bed of the shoe had some cushioning, the top and side fabric was VERY THIN. Also, be aware that these have no tongue, it's attached almost all the way up.

This is not a wide shoe. Very sad. I have another casual pair of NB fresh foam that I love. Disappointed that these did not work.

Nice looking and comfortable...but but no real support!

The left foot was tight made the tip of my foot Numb I gave it a couple days to break in then the right door my the top left f my foot hurt still breaking them in

I used a vongo v2 for two years and bought these as a replacement. Unfortunately, these are built poorly. The material felt thin and cheap. The fit was weird and despite the wide width it felt narrow around the middle. The sole felt very stiff and caused the shoe to slip off the heel as I walked.

These are probably great shoes but the absence of a tongue made inserting my orthodic and then my foot impossible. Had to return without ever finding out how the comfort or fit was. Going back to 840's with both a tongue and a removable inner sole.

Too long. Heel was too big. I walked out of them. No support

Strange non-traditional tongue. I didn’t feel that I could open the shoe wide enuf to get my foot in without my sock tightening up. Did not like that so I returned. But they looked nice.

Just kinda long and wider than usual. Shoe also felt flat. I'll have to send it back.

I over-pronate and have bunions. Finding a shoe that fits is a challenge. These were different from most of this size, 9.5 W women's. Lots of extra length but very tight across toes and instep. Not available in wider width. Nice snug fit around ankle.

Fine but not for me - The shoes have plenty of cushion, but they have such robust arch support that it felt like my feet were rolling outward. I was worried this would cause an inversion sprain (something I have a history of), so I chose a different pair made by another manufacturer.

This would have been my third pair of NB Vongo. There is no longer the tongue. It is now a pull-on sock fit (not sure what they call it?). Does not really work with socks. I think you would need a shoe horn to get a good fit with socks. Unfortunately, I need to return.
