I have balance issues and difficult feet. The 1540 has been the only shoe that supports me and keeps me stable. They are a bit heavier than a typical sneaker, but at the end of the day I can put miles on them without feeling fatigue.

I have the previous one-the V3 in a 10 2 E and they fit very well-probably because they are broken in! Wanted a replacement and found that these pinched the area over by bunion in my right foot. Not sure if its the shoe or just me! Am going to a pedorthist to see if my foot has changed since last year. Do like the color combination-more neutral. Really not into to the neon ones!

The rounded toe box is great. The insole is very thin. I added a better insole to make the shoe more comfortable.

I have been using this style for about 10 years and I did find the fit has not changed with the new version (V3) as the other reviewer. These fit my custom orthotics perfectly. Love the new color but wish there were more colors to chose from. I do find that the laces are too short and too bright for my taste. I purchased the silver bubble lace in 54" length. They match well and the length is better.

I have very wide feet and with arthritis the joints in the feet are very sensitive to pressure. Most of my life I wore a 6.5 WW, but for the last several years I've been needing a 7.5 WW. Now even that feels too tight, so I thought an 8 WWW might be better. I expected it to be a bit too long but I'm surprised that an 8 WWW still squeezed my toes enough to cause pain.

I have size 13 narrow feet. This shoe was narrow enough, which is often hard to find. However, it fit a full size smaller than a 13. My big toe was actually displaced by the shoe -- the toe was touching the interior of the shoe hard enough to move it over. I tried wearing the thinnest socks I had, which helped a little but not enough to allow me to run in them. I compared it to other size 13 running shoes that I have that fit, and it is definitely too small. I would have ordered a size up, but size 14 is apparently not a thing. As some other reviewers have noted, the tongue is a bit narrow. I found the shoes stiff and clumsy feeling, but not to the extent other New Balance offerings have been. There seems to be two camps of people -- those who are in love with New Balance and find them the most comfortable shoes ever, and everyone else. I fall into the "every one else," and bought the shoes out of desperation, since finding a size 13 narrow stability running shoe for women has become impossible. This is not it. I had to return it and was sad that I could not trade it in for a size larger.

Why do the New Balance shoes seem like they are getting shorter. I have Birkenstock shoes that I have several pair and the length is always the same. I know I can always order the same size.

I wore and loved these shoes for a long time--but the lately my toes seem to hit the end, even when I go up a half or full size from what I wear in other shoes. Too bad. And, yeah, holes appear pretty quickly in the fabric.

The fit and size is what I expect from New Balance. The quality of this pair of shoes was substandard at best. Hole in the top of the shoe after just 2 months of light wear. Zappos has excellent service and allowed me to exchange them. But, New Balance, I fear your quality has diminished.

I am so disappointed in these shoes. I needed the extra room for my toes, but the overall shoe is so wide I am almost stepping out of them when I walk. I have laced them tighter which results in making them very uncomfortable. In addition the top rim cuts into my heels and ankle bones. Oh why did I not return them before wearing them outside? I am a senior and feel I have put money down the drain.

Shocking poor quality. I didn't even wear these shoes out as I have a boot on my right foot, so I tried them on on my left foot the little cloth band to thread the laces through ripped off immediately. Hope it's a fluke and won't happen with the next pair of shoes I order. Very disappointed in the quality of New Balance lately.

I was told to buy this shoes by my doctor, paid in full on Jan 2021. I used this shoes for mild walking since i cannot run due to my health conditions
1. In 3 months, The laces started tearing from the end , these laces are not a quality one had to buy new laces by spending more,
2. In the 4th month holes started appearing on the top part of the shoes ( upper area above the toe cap ), This started getting bigger and bigger day by day.
So altogether after paying $160+ the shoe lasted for 6 months. I have never spend this much on a shoes (could not afford it ) but since my doctor suggested this to get rid of a health issue had to do it. but now i am into square one.
This is the first time experience of this sought from New Balance and a expensive one. Not sure if I was the chosen one for this experience, but please watch out for these signs on your shoes
Thank you

I am really impressed with these shoes. Even though they had mixed reviews, including some negative, I decided to try them because I need extra wide shoes for bunions and hammertoes, I'm not a runner, and my podiatrist recommended them. I tried 2 different sizes before landing on the size I need. They run large in length, so I suggest ordering a half size smaller. The fabric over the toes and bunions is stretchy but not "squishy" like some totally fabric shoes that provide no support on top. The soles are very supportive and comfortable and have a rollbar to prevent pronation. I tried multiple styles of Brooks, Hoka and Orthofeet and was not comfortable in any I tried. As someone who has a difficult time finding comfortable shoes, and who has extra wide feet and bunions, I highly recommend these.

The shoes fit fine. But, I ordered the shoes from the Men's department and what showed up may be decorated as a Woman's shoe. They are gray in color and have pink soles and tongues. The writing on the box ends shows them as being a women's shoe as well. I like them other than the goofy color combo. I would order them again, but definitely in a different color next time.

finally a shoe that fits in width! I unfortunately have a very wide foot due to hereditary bunions, even after surgery. My shoes were always too long to accomodate the width but now with 4E I can go down a half size. Thank you New Balance and Zappos for carrying them.

This is a shoe that makes walking feel fun. However, it's expensive! Although my feet are usually medium, I tried on these in "narrow". They fit well, but the seam at the bottom of the laces on the right shoe irritated me. This is not surprising - that foot has a bigger arch. Sadly, I will have to return these shoes. I'm not getting the larger size because these New Balance sneakers, like many others nowdays are just too expensive.

This is the fourth pair of these I have owned. I do not like the colors, but at least this pair has an appealing navy blue with almost no pink or coral highlights. The tongue is too short and too thin. The laces are way to short. Why do shoe companies offer wide shoes and the extra hole to tighten down the heel and then supply shoe laces that are way too short? The good news is that these shoes last forever before I wear a hole in the toe or inside the heel and they need replacing. I have very wide feet and must wear custom orthotics. This model shoe was recommended by my doctor and really help my plantar fasciitis and tendinitis issues. I wear Altra to run and Zamberlan boots to hike, but I wear these shoes the rest of the time.
I'd also recommend:
