A huge downgrade from the 1540v2. My pair of 1540v2's were very comfortable and lasted me over a year before wearing out. The v3 offers less support, is less comfortable, and the insole has completely worn through in only 2 months of light wear.
New Balance clearly decided to trade in on the solid reputation of the previous version and make this new version as cheaply and poorly as possible.

No, this shoe is by far the worst shoe I have ever worn! The sole had no flexibility in that when walking in this shoe, it didn't seem to bend from heel to toe. Almost as if the shoe just flopped flat without any bend in the arch. Felt as if I had clown shoes on, I had hoped that buying a shoe made in America would pay off, but I'll go back to my "BROOKS" that are foreign made, but is a much superior shoe. :(

I really do not like this shoe. It feels really hard when walking as if there is not enough support under my feet. I only wear New Balance because of the comfort and the wide widths. I am unfortunately not happy at all with this pair!

I've been wearing this shoe for years, and they were great. Then, v3 came out and the quality is awful. They completely fell apart in 3 months. I have a couple old pairs of v2 I'm squeezing the last life out of until I can find something else.

I injured my foot a few years ago and had a difficult time finding a shoe that would fit properly. I have wore 2 pair of v2 and loved them. The v3 seemed a bit narrower, but the biggest problem I had was that the toe box started widening at a different point and caused my foot to pronate. My foot typically rolls out but this shoe was making it roll in.

I have worn nothing but this shoe since it came out and I am very disappointed in the v3. Even with the $50 New Balance insole added to it, its hard as can be and very uncomfortable.

The tongues in each of the shoes are simply not long enough. It is difficult to put them on and remove them.

The 1540v2 was my go to shoe for years, easily ordering a new pair online, take out standard foam insert, add my own choice insert and away I go.... I was good for 6 months of working 12 hours on my feet..... At the six month mark, order a new pair and repeat.... So easy for a guy who wears size 15 EE, I became complicit...
When I saw the new version 3's I did some research, found good reviews and some notes about a few changes to the last, but no big deal, everyone still loves them..... No help on New Balance website directing a size change based on prior fit, so I ordered a pair....
Oh internet you did me wrong! How different they are....
The width changed, or maybe its the new material on the lateral surface (more vinyl, less mesh) but its tight, and I can feel a ridge thru the lateral surface under the shoe insert, right at the head of the 5th metatarsal... Not Good!
I went on the internet and quickly found 4 pairs of 1540v2 left on amazon.... lets hope they ship as described...
I might try a refit in store, maybe going to EEEE, but Im so disappointed New Balance..... Why? oh Why? The 1540v2 was perfect!

The version 2 fit me perfect. The version 3 does not fit at all. Too short, too narrow, different support, etc.

The tongue and laces did not open wide enough to actually get my feet in these shoes. I returned both pair that I purchased and will buy something else.
