We got these in the Grey. They looked great and my son said they were the most comfortable of all the sneakers he tried on. However, unfortunately, they only lasted 4 months! Yes, my son is a very active 5 year old boy who gives sneakers a run for their money, but he's only got recess for 20 minutes a couple times a day and active little boys is the demographic for this shoe. The entire front black portion of the sneaker (not the rubber) is peeling off on both shoes.

I was thrilled to see such a cute pair of shoes from Stride Rite - the reviews were amazing, so I took the plunge and bought 2 pairs: 1 in the 6.5 wide and another in the 7 wide, in case he grows out of his 6.5 quickly. Sadly, I noticed that the front of his shoes (near his toys) had holes in them only 1 week of being worn. My toddler is quite active, but I've had no issues with his other shoes. Thinking it could be his toes poking out with this specific shoe fit, my husband suggested our son wears the size 7 shoes. My son had tears in the same toe area after just 1 day. Our case may have been a fluke, as we usually don't have issues with Stride Rite shoes, but we were very disappointed that we had gone through 2 pairs of shoes in less than a month. Sad, because we love the style and the fit seems to be comfortable everywhere else. We received a pair of the same shoes in brown and will test them out, in case there was some sort of defective run for the grey shoes.

Cute shoe. But my "active" 6 year old wore out the toes of the shoes in no time. Between swinging, riding a bike and a scooter, and doing normal 6 year old things, the tops near the toes (the fabric part) didn't stand a chance.

We bought these shoes for our 17 month old. We liked the neutral colors he wears them everyday without complaint so I assume they are comfortable. However they are SO DIFFICULT to wiggle on his feet! The heel cup isn't sturdy enough and will collapse into the shoe when you're trying to shove fat little toddler feet in. There is a loop on the back of the shoe but the loop is so small I can barely get a finger though to help keep the back of the shoe from folding in on itself. We won't repurchase.

The shoes started to fall apart after only a month or so of use from a 4 year old boy. The front on both shoes became detached. I super glued back together so we could get a little more use out of them, but very disappointed in these Stride Rite shoes.

We had a pair of Stride Rite Made to Play before this pair and they held up very well. I expected the same from our second pair, but boy was I disappointed. After 3 months, here I am looking to buy my 4 year old son another pair of shoes because these are not made like they use to be. The toes scuffed almost immediately, the seams are coming out, and the top part around the ankle is also coming apart. I will definitely switch to another brand!

I was excited at firstt when I purchased the shoes, but after my son wore them for only one week, they began to develop tears in the front. Now, I am very disappointed with this shoe, and wish I had not purchased them.

Why won't my 2 year old wear these? Because I cannot get his foot in them. Even when I order the wide, the ankle portion is too tight if your kiddo has beefy feet. Otherwise, the shoes look well-made, and the style really is adorable. I tried ordering them in a size too large, and yes, THEN his foot fit, but, then he had giant shoes and it did not work at all. It's a shame I have to return these twice.

I had these about 10 weeks before the rubber sole came loose on both shoes. Thankfully Zappos offered amazing customer service to remedy the situation.

Son really liked them, and then within 3 weeks the shoes wore out. Fabric rips, shoe fronts scuffed leaving holes. His feet have not grown in the 3 weeks wearing them, and yet now they are incredibly hard to put on. It’s like the shoe itself shrunk. Really disappointed and not worth the $40.

These shoes did not hold up. The tread wore out and then the sneakers became dangerous.

Great looking/fitting shoe, but not durable enough for an active two year old. My son has been wearing these less than a month and toes have worn all the way through.

These shoes really scuff up wood floors! Also, they run pretty narrow, so the velcro straps don't reach more than 3/4 of the way across. In wearing them for a single day, my son's shoes now are full of dog hair and other lint on the ends of the velcro because the top part of the velcro does not reach across all of the way. I wish I could return these! The Stride Right Leepz that we bought at the same time in the same size are awesome! My son loves how they light up, they fit perfectly, they don't scuff, and they look great.

Cute, but too hard to get on my two-year-old's size 8 foot. There is only one velcro strap and there's elastic over the tongue of the shoe all the way up to the velcro, so you can't open the tongue of the shoe very much to get the shoe on. I think these would be better suited for an older child who can help more with putting on their own shoes! My son does admittedly have a very high instep, so that probably doesn't help.

They only lasted 5 weeks! My son has a huge hole on the right shoe above the big toe and the left shoe is also starting to go.

These shoes have hardly lasted a month as only school shoes.(Note: And also not worn every day!) They are already falling apart Keens and Merrill last so much longer. Will purchase those brands from now on.

As now I see other reviewers posted, I purchased these shoes for my four year old son 10 months ago. He did not start wearing them until 6-7 months ago. He pointed out to me last week that the shoe is literally falling apart. I have only purchased stride rite made-to-play sneakers as I have two boys a year apart and have been able to pass the sneakers down to the younger one. Two for the price of one basically. Well unfortunately that is not the case with this pair. I don't know how or why they are ant different from previous pairs and I'm extremely disappointed in the quality. He is not extremely rough with them, he does not drag his feet or toes when running/walking/playing/riding his bike or scooter. He actually wears Crocs during the summer and switched to sneakers two months ago when Pre-K started so we only got about 4 months of wear out of them. That's just appalling and ludicrous.

The front of the shoes were breaking after 2 weeks of wear and I just thought that it was because of the way he walks, but after less than 2 months of wear, the shoe completely crumbled. I understand that things are not meant to last forever but when you think you are buying quality shoes (all my 4 children grew up wearing stride rite shoes) so this pair is a total disappointment.

I ordered extra wide and I wouldn't even consider it to be wide. My sons current shoes were wider than these. We returned them.

Nice shoe, but not made tough enough to survive a three year old active boy. The toes had a hole in them and the soles were worn before we hit the two month mark. Will not purchase again. Would be a nice shoe for a sedentary boy. And although I love the brand, I Will not purchase again for my boy from Stride Rite.

These shoes are not very durable and I don't recommend them for any active kids! After only 2 months, one of the soles had come out of the shoes and there were holes in the front toe area. I know my 7-year-old son can be hard on shoes, but I would expect these to last longer than 2 months. Thankfully, Zappos customer service is amazing and they took care of the issue!

My son wore these out in less than two months. We usually buy New Balance and they last until he outgrows them. For $10 more buy a quality shoe.

I really wanted to love these. The style is cute, but the quality is simply awful. My son has worn only Stride Rite since birth, and we've never had any issues with quality before. He usually wears his shoes for about 6 months at a time (we size up) and he's outgrown each pair WAY before the shoes actually wore out. That said, I ordered the Artins in December, and he first wore them in January. Within two weeks' time, the top of the toe began showing signs of wear. I figured the wear was more of an cosmetic issue than anything; after all, he's a toddler and boys scuff up their shoes. Well, it's now March, two months after he first wore them, and there are two massive holes all the way across the tops of his toes. So disappointing, especially given the great reviews. Wish I had returned them after the first two weeks, when I first saw the wear. Terrible.
