Long time jogger. I tried some cheaper sneakers but felt they did not really protect my feet. Finally broke down and ordered the 990s. Felt better from the first day, good strong shoe structure, well padded and not too heavy. Finally feel my feet are protected and enjoying my workouts again.

I have been wearing this shoe or its predecessors for more than 20 years. It never fails to deliver in terms of sizing, comfort and shock absorption. My only request, even as an older runner who values tradition, is could we maybe get some snazzier colors, such as orange and red?

These are wonderful shoes. The fit and finish are excellent. I'm 74, so they'll be walking shoes. The fact that they're American made speaks to their quality. They aren't overpriced for the quality and fit of the shoes. Kudos!

Initially I ordered a 10 wide 2e (my Brannock size is a 10 E) and I found them to be a tad too long. Returned them and order a 9.5 wide and they fit perfect. I have flat/wide feet that over pronate and these shoes are comfortable. Haven't used an orthotic in them yet but they will take them easily. Definitely a chunky dad shoe, but I dig the style especially with long white socks and shorts hah.

NB 990 is an awesome sneaker for my arthritic feet, fits my custom insole and allows me to walk miles without the usual pain. I don't want to take them off.

I wear my shoes daily and find even brand new that they were immediately comfortable and provide excellent support. In fact with my previous pair, we were in Bryce Canyon during winter when I forgot my hiking boots and had only my New Balance shoes. But I discovered in the snow that they provided excellent traction - and insulation from the sub zero cold. With that I was hooked on their superior quality.
