Customer Reviews New Balance Made in US 990v5

I have worn New Balance shoes for years and they have worn well and lasted for a long time. I started wearing them because I wear an 11AA shoe and most manufacturers don't even make a shoe that size. They are not cheap, but are a good shoe.

This is the 2nd pair of 990v5 I've bought hoping for different results. I've worn the 990v4 for several years and it's helped with foot and back pain. Something has changed in the v5 construction that's brought the pain back.

The 990 V5 fits true to size and always high quality. I use them to strength train and 5K/8K/10K runs. I'm 67 and never had a problem with my knees / feet/legs with almost 40 years of New Balance.

Bought these for walking around Boston while I was being treated at Mass General. The best part of these sneakers is you can purchase whichever ever width you need, my only wish is the other colors were in stock. very comfortable sneaker, recommend them highly. With that said my Wife and I visited the Boston store and had her foot measured and purchases a high end shoe for her, had terrible luck with the purchase she made from another vendor

Finally, an athletic shoe made in the U.S. Comfortable with pretty good support. Have been looking for items not made in China since Circuit City was around. New Balance has done it with a quality shoe and they seem proud of it. Pricey but definitely worth the expense.

Shoes are comfortable, beautifully designed, and made of great materials. Personally, I would not go down a half of size as was recommended to me. My TTS is 8.5 and 8's were a little tight in the edges. Returned for 8.5's and they fit with the perfect amount of wiggle room. Also, I love that they come unlaced; allows you to add your own lace pattern.

I was looking for a wintertime replacement for my 990 V4. The V5 is a better fit and more comfortable shoe.

Love New Balance because some are made in the USA. Pricey but comfortable and there never is a sale on their top ones

I have worn New Balance 990 running shoes for many years. I purchased a new pair of them, version 5, as simply a replacement for my older pair. This model works for me. They're comfortable and they fit my feet well. I've tried other brands, some that had more cushioning in the heel, but I found that cheaper shoes don't have enough structure and support in the arch or metatarsal, like New Balance. I purchased the Made in USA version simply to support the local economy.

I debated along time on whether or not to order them. Wish I did not, I Should have stayed with the 928V3. It is more stable and has round nylon laces vs. floppy flat cloth laces. It does make a difference when you have Neuropathy with little or no feeling in your fingers and feet. Only good thing about the 990 is it's more stylish, which at my age I really don't care about.

It is exactly what you would expect of an American made shoe. NB should make all their shoes in the USA.

The greatest feature is that I can get a walking shoe for my narrow foot, AA width. A most difficult size to find. Quality and detail is excellent.

I first began to run in New Balance shoes while I was in school in Boston during the mid 1970's We purchased our "320's" at the company store in Brookline. Since then, I have purchased my New Balance shoes from small specialty retailers, the Jogg'n Shoppe in Arcate, CA for the last decade or so. I was seriously disappointed when New Balance decided to stop supporting small retailers - who had been the faithful basis for the company's growth and success. For this order, I bought my 990's from a New Balance company web site, although it appears that they were shipped from a different organization located in Missouri. My local retailer can no longer get New Balance shoes because he does not have "elite" status. I hope that New Balance's management begins to see the error in their decision to favor large, on-line operations over the local shops that have been (and still are) working to serve their customers and keep them in high quality shoes. I would hate to see New Balance go the way of so many other companies who have been squeezed out of business by low margin, on-line operations. New Balance's 990's are the only shoes that really work for me, and I hope that I can continue to have their quality and excellent design available to me.

I've worn New Balance tennis shoes for years. They make my feet happy!

I've been having ankle problems lately and this is the brand shoes my doctor recommended. He said to go in and have my foot measured in store. All kidding aside. I left there in a less expensive set of shoes than what they suggested and was very comfortable. And I bought the pair they suggested and tried them on two days later. Those are like walking in the shoes I've been meant to wear my entire life. I'll only buy new balance from now on.

I use these as my everday shoes to commute. Although the shoes are comfortable, I noticed on one shoe that that the suede on the toe has really discolored and looks completely different than the other shoe. Also the rubber toe cap has started to peel away on this shoe. Not too happy, considering the price of these.

NB 990V5 are always so comfortable yet supportive. They continue to be my favorite.

I walk 5 miles daily. I love the NB 990V5 because it has a very high toe box that I need due to some bad hammer toes.

As a Federal maximum security Prison corrections officer, I spend a lot of time on my 12 hour shifts on my feet, much in very demanding situations. The inmates are mostly adjudicated criminally insane and can be very, very violent. These NB help me keep my balance when fighting with them in the cell block. They helped me out run a mob bent on killing any and all of us prison guards. Some of my fellow shift mates who were wearing army type leather low quarters could not get traction in all of the spilled blood and were caught by the rioters and beaten and shanked. Two of the ten guards were murdered and were cut wide open with their entrails spilled on the concrete floor. These shoes were soaked in their gore but after some spirited cleaning looked good enough to wear again and don't smell too bad. Thanks New Balance for saving my life!

Good shoe but too expensive!! I wanted the 1540 shoe that I have bought for years but could not find anywhere. I will now buy from Ortho Feet for a lot less money and good fit Newbalance needs to get in order!!!
