This is my 10th pair of NB top of the line shoes and I've never been disappointed. I have a very wide foot and these are the only shoes that feel comfortable as soon as you put them on.

These are the only shoes of almost any kind that fit me, a size 12 AA. I use them to walk and knock about in. The only problem is they are cut just a little too high for my flat feet, thus impacting my ankle bone somewhat. Otherwise, very comfortable and I love them.

They work great! I'm a person who supinates, especially near the front of my feet, basically what that means is that typically the point with the most pressure during a stride is the upper right/left {depending on which foot} quadrant of my foot. Because of this EVERY shoe I have owned so far has worn down to a gapping hole in that part of my shoe. So far these seem to be the exception. Using NB's language I needed a "Neutral Cushioning" shoe and I wanted to see what happened if I actually put my money where my mouth is, or "feet" in this case ;). I've had them for a bit now, the exterior, outside facing soul seems really durable, no visible wear yet. The shoe is very conformable, I am a wide shoe in every brand but the wide option on these seems a bit wider than others, so it fits a little too loose in side-to-side direction. The length is spot on though and overall they fit very well. The support {which for me this is key} seems to be the best of any shoe I have ever bought. I can wear these for very long walks with my dog on various terrains and they still feel great.

I was a little nervous purchasing these shoes online without trying them first. Now that i've walked over 120 miles, I can say I'm thrilled that I bought them. They were a little stiff the first few times I wore them but they fit perfectly with great heel fit. I wear them with cushioned socks and haven't had any slippage of my feet inside the shoes. I will definitely buy them again when I need to replace this pair.

I've been wearing variants of NB's 990 shoes for years and years. They are simply the best overall running and walking shoes I've ever owned. Fit is certainly subjective, but the fit, and therefore comfort, of these shoes is terrific. Wear is not as subjective and these shoes last for a zillion miles (or so it seems). Seriously, they do eventually wear out and I've just thrown out a pair with numerous holes, but they do last a long time and they've provided great value.

I have been grand loyal to NB for years due to having some neuropathy and numbness. I've been wearing the 990v4 and always felt that they were a little snug in the mid section of my medium sized foot. The 990v5 has provided just the right around of width. In the past, I use to spend $50 for insoles for the 990v4 but with the 990v5 I can now spend $50 on something else. The molten/lava red are beautiful, they do make a statement.

I have been buying NB 900s from Zappos for several years through a multitude of versions. Prior to this purchase I was swayed by reviews of the new V5, and decided to try a similarly priced manufacturer’s product. This was not one of my best decisions. The foreign produced shoe was well made and looked great. However, after Zappos did all they could to supply the proper size, the shoes still hurt my heals. Although I am no longer a competitive runner, I currently walk paved roads in the Blue Ridge Mountains 4 to 5 times a week. The 900v5 shoes have performed exactly as previous versions. They did not cause me any of the problems listed by other reviewers and I am again a believer in the New Balance shoes that are made in America.

Love the New Balance 990 shoe. This new V5 has a wider toe box which improves the fit over my bunion. Great shoe I only wish they made the men’s 990V5 6E in all black.

I normally wear a size 15 in dress shoes and sometimes a 16 in running shoes. I ordered these in a size 15 and they fit GREAT! I have narrow thin feet and these are probably the best fitting running shoes I can recall ever purchasing. Great support and and I’ve noticed considerably less foot pain after a run.

These are great shoes for bad feet that need extra support. I wish they lasted longer than 6 months before breaking down though.

Fantastic, comfortable and well made walking shoe. Walk is both smooth and supportive while shoe is also light, hope they last for years.

I ordered these in a 10 B which is my normal shoe size. The shoes fit fine as far as length and width went. The cushioning was also fine, not to thin and not so thick it felt like a pillow. The issue I had with these shoes was that the right shoe's top extended above the lower part of my ankle bone. This caused some pain and discomfort. If these were a $50 pair of shoes I might have lived with it and given them time to break in. But, as these were almost a $200 pair of shoes I was not going to take the chance on the break in never happening, so I had to return them.

I wanted All Black/Black, and they don't make those in Women's, so I ordered an 8 1/2 WIDE Men's. Just trying them on now - haven't walked outside yet. They are comfortable, and true to size, but I expected much more arch support for the money they cost. I didn't want to buy an insert, but I may have to. If you tend to pronate, you will need more arch support than what these shoes offer. Because they are Men's size, it is a little high for me near the ankle, and rubs a bit. Thicker socks and an insert might help that. I am keeping them anyway, because I need All Black shoes, And I can make them work. Please make this color in Women's sizes!

Ok so A for fit/function but a massive F on form. For $100+ shoes I would have expected a bit more QC on the form, rough tongue, loose leather outers and overall looks pretty rough in person. It's like taking back an ex that cooks and cleans really well but whew is not that attractive

They seem to have changed the 990 from V4 to V5. The V5 is now hitting my left ankle bone, the V4 didn't bother it.

I could not get the burgundy 990 so I liked the men's color and tried them the length is fine according to the chart but they need to warn you that the best width is probably a wide in women's and to size down. I will be returning these to get narrower width.

The toe box on these shoes has been reduced by 1/2". the hurt my toes. I have the same shoes I ordered last time with a nice wide toe box. Will have to send these back.

I have a wide toe box, but a normal heel. I ordered an 11 EE. The length was fine, but the toe box was surprisingly narrow, even with the EE. I wonder if my pair was an irregular or second. The tongue on the right shoe was not sewn correctly, and it was noticeably ragged. If this pair was an irregular, it might explain why the toe box was too narrow. I thought about trying another pair, but given the cost, I simply returned them and will look elsewhere.

The shoe fits great. I do notice my joints (knee) hurt. Looking for softer shoe.
