The shoe was wide and very unattractive; also felt thin-soled. I returned it for a refund.

I've had New Balance running shoes, including the 990, for years. I've always worn a standard Size 8. The Size 8 990 V5 which I recently purchased and returned is short and tight in the toe section.

The sneakers don't feel right. The inserts are uncomfortable. I put my old inserts into new sneakers. Not good.

Black pair was too small. Should've been a 12. Highly disappointed for the cost.

I ordered a pair of New Balance 990v5. They arrived in short order, but were defective: some of the eyelet holes for the laces did not go through the underlying fabric, making it impossible to properly lace up the shoes. My only remedy was to send them back. I enclosed a note (which was ignored) suggesting that the sneakers simply be repaired and then returned to me. But no, they don't do business that way. If I want working shoes I have to place another order and hope that the replacement sneakers arrive ready to go. Altogether a bummer, leading to a waste of time and energy dealing with a simple problem that should have been caught during inspection before the sneakers were sent to me. Very disappointing behavior by New Balance.

I have purchased this style of NB for years and this new version isn't the same quality. I felt the difference but, thought I would break in over time but, they started to cause foot pain. I would not recommend I contact NB and no response from customer service.

I wanted to love this shoe but after trying wear it for 1 week my feet where in pain.The 990v5 has an issue with the bottom inside heal area,not sure if other people have the same issue but theres something the squeezes and digs your heels on the bottom sides and insole bottoms of the shoe area. After wearing them for a couple of hours this causes your heals of your feet to hurt.I tried to see if they just needed to be broken in but this did not change after wearing them for a week,could not return due to wearing them. the quality of the shoe is amazing,its well built and also look great but this one flaw in the inside heal area makes me wish I never bought the shoe.

THE 990 IS SLIP LASTED, THE 993 IS COMBINATION LASTED. YOUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE NOT EDUCATED ON THE DIFFERENCE! THE 990 DOES NOT PROVIDE THE SUPPORT EQUIVALENCY OF THE 993.

i returned the sneakers right away, it has been over a week and have not seen my money refunded yet.

I have run in 1540v2 for a few years now and every pair has been outstanding. Since I have purchased a new pair of the 1540v3 I am having knee, ankle, Achilles and toe problems. The shoe feels like my heel is sliding up and there seems to be too much room in the toe box. It is the same size I have been wearing for years and nothing has changed that I can tell. I hope to get a refund and find another shoe that I can run in. Every shoe I own is NB. They have always been the best.

I ordered my pair of 990v5 and was excited to see the order process after 1 week of waiting I get and email that they ran out of stock . I am very disappointed due to the fact this is the actual retailer that makes the shoe not a regular shoe store that would be understandable.

These are the worst shoes I've ever tried. I'm on my feet all day and have used several different styles and brands over the years. Boots, work shoes, you name it I've probably tried it. running shoes have always been the best, until I bought these. They hurt my heel, dig into my arch and are not comfortable at all. These shoes are very hot as well. For this price, I expected a really good shoe. They are not even close to what they should be for the price, the name brand and the made in USA hoopla.

It is with great disappointment that I write this review. The 990v5 is NOT the same shoe as the 990v4. The last pair I purchased were in November 2020. The toe box already has holes in the mesh. There is some sort of appendage inside the shoe that is wearing on my right big toe. The cushioning is not the same as the 990v4. The fit is not the same. I've measured each shoe from different pairs I have kept; they are not the same or consistent. I now have back, (big) toe and foot pain. After reading the other recent reviews, I see many have the same issue. What happened?

For the price I expected more. had better shoes for a quarter of the price.

To big in the size , so I sent them back and two weeks later still have no word on a refund or a replacement ,

These ripped out in 2 days. Return started due to the poor quality.

modification v5 not good. size v5 not the same as was 990.

Returned the shoes. I ordered a half size larger and still the shoes where to small.

I have been wearing only New Balance 990s made in USA shoes for over 20 years with no problems until this pair. For whatever reason they just are not as comfortable and have rubbed against top of toes causing pain

Not satisfied it seems as though the shoes had been worn.they didnt have the normal packing disappointed all that money !!

This is the third, and last, pair of New Balance shoes I will purchase after years of loyalty the last three pair of 990V5 shoes all developed holes in the mesh on the left shoe within a very short period of time.
