I have looked for the perfect tote that could also turn into a backpack. I was so happy to end this! The laptop storage area is something I was also looking for. This is classy and useful! I'm an art teacher and put a lot in it.

I was initially hesitant to buy this bag because I was afraid it would be too small looking at the pictures online. I have 2 laptops for work but they fit with ease including their power cords and accessories while still having room for paper work and journals. It is surprisingly roomy while not feeling like a huge piece of luggage I'm having to lug around all day. Love the option to wear as a backpack or carry as a tote. Great bag that's highly functional with just the right number of pockets.

I really love this bag and it was exactly what I was looking for: a work bag that doubles as a purse if need be. I will say that originally, I was surprised by how small it seemed when I took it out of the packaging. Timbuk2 was absolutely transparent about the numbers; what I visualized was just a little different. But, I gave it a shot, tried the bag for a few days and was really happy with it. It does fit a lot more than it looks like it would - and it also isn't too big where you're constantly shoving stuff and suddenly carrying around ten tons of bricks. Plus, it looks cute. The only thing I would recommend in the next iteration of design is a little more cushioned support (ie - neoprene or padding) in the shoulder straps. And maybe a water bottle holder on the side.

I LOVE this backpack. It looks professional at work, I can put a change of clothes for the gym, put produce in it at the farmers market, etc. I really haven't found anything it's not useful for. And its so light and easy to clean. The only thing I don't love is the zipper on the front pocket-it's a little hard to open and close and I wish it was in the opposite direction since I usually wear it on my right side and it would be easier to close if it were opposite.

Perfect bag for work, travel and commuting. Thrilled that it is water resistant. Transitions effortlessly between being a comfortable hands free commuting bag and professional situations. I searched a lot before deciding in this one- so glad I did!

I can't say enough about this bag. I use it as my everyday bag. It holds so much, yet isn't bulky. The extra pockets are all in the perfect spots for easy access. It looks great carried as a tote or backpack, and both ways are comfortable. I got mine in jet black. The gold zippers dress it up a little without making it look cheap.

I finally took the plunge and decided to ditch the messenger bag I had been using for work for the last 11 years. The versatility of this bag is a-mazing. I really couldn't decide between a "grown-up" leather tote and a trendier backpack, but found this to be a fantastic mix of both. One of my coworkers skeptically asked if it was big enough for everything we use as teachers, but I found it to be no different than a back pack: I fit my laptop, a generous amount of student work to be graded, a water bottle, and a pair of sandals. There are many less pockets than my messenger bag, but I loved the down-sizing and have not missed them yet. I love grabbing it like a tote on my way into work and wearing it like a backpack walking to the coffee shop. This one is a win.

I initially purchased this bag for work to fit my laptop and lunch bag, but I love it so much that it's also my gym bag now. The size is perfect and there are plenty of pockets to keep things organized. This will be my everywhere I go bag!

I bought this bag a few weeks ago thinking it would be a great work backpack that could easily transition to evening if I didn't go straight home. As it turns out, it is my all day everyday bag - work, happy hour, weekend outings, errands. I got the shinier black fabric with gold hardware, so it's a little less casual. It has a laptop sleeve and a good number of little pockets to stay well organized. I use drop bags to organize stuff in the interior, and it works perfectly. The one drawback is that there's no external water bottle pocket, but a water bottle fits fine on the inside. I don't use it much as a tote, but I've tried it, and the tote straps are extendable, so it can be comfortable for anybody. I find the backpack straps to be perfectly comfortable and easily adjustable too, even though they don't have padding. This is really the perfect bag.

Best for commuting while riding CitiBike with my laptop, lunch and coffee flask !!

Just what she needs

I have only had my bag for a week.... but love it so far! It is stylish and practical, and carries all my needs as an on-the-go gal! The pockets and key fob help keep me organized, and I love the convertible backpack straps for walking home or strolling though the farmers market. I can tell this bag will be my perfect choice for work days and day adventures!

I love love love that the back pack straps can be hidden away. The bag is light weight but roomy. It's the first roomy bag I've found that doesn't become too heavy to carry. Still light weight with lots of stuff in the bag!

My husband purchased this for me just before a trip to San Francisco. I wanted a lightweight backpack I could also carry as a purse. This was excellent. I carried it as a backpack for 3 days all over the City. It was stuffed with a fleece, rain jacket, extra shoes & all my purse items, plus my purchases. It never hurt my shoulders. It rained for 2 days and nothing inside got wet. At night I had a cute tote purse. I was worried about the strap length for the tote, but they adjust & were exactly right (I'm 5'7") Finally found the perfect bag for travel. The purple color is pretty, unique, but not overly bright. Another win for Timbuk2! (Along with the Wingman duffle)

this bag is everything I was looking for! Lightweight, beautiful clean, simple and READY to hold tons of stuff I love to carry everywhere with me. I am completely stunned at how much I am in love with this bag. There is only one tiny thing I would change- being able to tuck the extra strap length from the backpack straps into a loop. They are too long for my height and tangle all over the place. I am not sure if I want to cut and burn the strap ends to make them shorter but --I might

I love this bag! 1- It fits much more than my usual messenger bag since it's so tall. I can fit my Mac, water bottle, coffee cup, planner, and a few notebooks, and then pile on some groceries on my way home from work. It should be a great professional bag for grad school too. 2- The outside pocket is fantastic for keys, wallet, and glasses. 3- The straps are thin but still comfortable, and they fit into a zipper compartment on top perfectly. 4- The only downsides are that the fabric seems like it might snag (but hasn't yet), and the straps on the backpack straps are super long while the ones on the tote part are just a tad short.

I rarely write reviews, but this glorious bag is just so great, and it deserves some kind words. I've been searching for a bag that can be either a legit shoulder bag (sleek with straps that can actually go over a shoulder!) or a comfy backpack (with straps that can also be tucked away when not in use!) and THIS IS IT. Plus, the front vertical zipper pocket for keys is super convenient. The bag is sturdy and still stylish, tall but not bulky, and the dark purple color is lovely. So happy with this bag!!!

I recently started a new job that has me driving, walking, and taking a commuter train in order to get between home, work, and client site. I carry two computers (they have the same power cord, whew), some papers, notebook, peripherals, lunch, and extra glasses. All of this fits in this backpack tote. It is comfortable and snug on my 5'4" frame. I love that I can just carry it as a shoulder bag when moving between floors in our building. The key pocket on the side is perfect for ID badges and access fobs.

It's the best! It looks great to carry as a backpack or tote. It's huge in a good way. I have two laptops and they both fit with room left to spare. I've gotten a ton of compliments. The only downside is the long straps on the backpack. I wish there was a way to tie them up. But that's far from a deal breaker. I would buy this bag again.

I love this backpack, I was just returning to the site to buy another one in grey. I get a lot of compliments on this backpack and I love the gold hardware. I am hard on my bags and this bag still looks great. Buy it, you will love it....

This is THE best bag. I wanted something with the capacity to carry my laptop (15" Mac) when necessary, but also a catch all for my daily excursions. From dog park, training, work, out and about, this bag has you covered. The number of pockets for organization keeps everything simple and easy to access. The fabric is so soft and the backpack straps are very comfortable even with a heavy load. The stylish black and gold combo creates a lux look. This bag has become a welcomed accessory. I am disappointed I didn't have it in my life sooner.

I was worried that this backpack would not fit everything I need, but it's surprisngly roomy. I was able to fit my laptop in the laptop sleeve, a notebook, a large planner, a few Manila folders with files, a clipboard I need for work, my wallet, phone charger, and a few extra personal items as well in the front pocket. It also looks professional and is super light when used as a backpack (even filled up). I was looking for something professional yet stylish, with a lot of room, and something that zipped up. This fulfilled all my criteria! Only thing I'd like is a water bottle holder on an inside or outside pocket.

So far I think it's great!! I'll be putting it to the test next week for travel but I've been using it as my daily bag and I love it!!
