Have been hiking for many years and always on the lookout for the next great hiking shoe. I really like this shoe except for the durability. Waterproofing was adequate for wet trails, the sole worked perfectly on slick surfaces and after many hours on the trail little fatigue in my feet. The only downside is durability and waterproofing in shoes prevent use in warm weather. After my first hike the material on the uppers failed and exposed the foam on both shoes. First pair of shoes in all my years of hiking this has happened. Overall a solid hiking shoe but disappointed for the price point of this shoe.

If they made these shoes with a more harder sole so that you don't feel every little thing you stand on when carrying a heavy pack ,then in my eyes they would have made the ultimate in hiking trekking shoes , very disappointing as I bought these for hiking , now they will be used for running or scrambling with no back pack on

The Aerios FL Mid GTX isn't all bad. The good? Grip from the sole compound is awesome. They get more comfortable the more broken in they get. And if you wear them very, very occasionally I suppose they might last. I actually used mine, so they didn't last. A few months after purchasing them and the upper cuff on the inside of each shoe, by the top eyelet, looks like it does in a lot of other reviews' photos.

Ordered these with high hopes, good looking shoe and lightweight. However, in my opinion lacks the support needed for long hikes/walks. Fits too much like a unsupportive sneaker. Goretex does work.

Got these having had Arcteryx footwear before. Fit initially weird but much better after a bit of wear. Waterproof for a couple of months but then small leaks appeared and now they're not waterproof at all - walking in wet grass means soggy socks quite quickly. The protective material that extends up from the sole has delaminated recently too.
I've had these for around 9 months, worn them for maybe 25% of the time. Pretty disappointed, all Arcteryx gear prior to these has been perfect.

I bought this shoot year ago. It's really good for outdoor but manufactured quality is not as good as I expected

Bought a pair of these under 6 months ago and have worn them almost daily since through a Canadian fall and winter. The good stuff follows. Love the looks, the black on black is easy to wear with any outfit. Everything about the materials and design is very slick looking. They have been fairly waterproof for water up to about the fourth lace from the bottom. Grip has been decent on ice and wet rocks. Love the mid upper for its versatility, adds a decent amount of ankle support when properly and tightly laced up. The outer sole seems to be holding up very well for the amount of walking I have done in them. Now the bad stuff. The fit is very narrow throughout the shoe. For me, this is most notable at distal end of the bridge of my foot. Makes it hard to properly lace it for ankle support and not be crushing my foot over longer distances. This isn't a huge deal breaker for me as my feet are fairly narrow, so the fit isn't too intrusive. But most other people would find this an issue. I have had the same issue many others have had where the inner/medial part of the upper cuff has start to split at the top lace hook. I just noticed it a day or so ago and have tried to patch it using some gear repair patches. I am in contact with the seller on returning them. The rest of the shoe shows no signs of wear and tear, especially on the scale of the pics shown. However, for the price I would expect them to not have a huge design flaw like this. Only reason I am looking for a return is that I do not think my repair will hold up over the long-term life of the shoe, something I would expect to be lengthy with the price point of these shoes. In short, these are some great looking, narrow fitting shoes that would be above average overall if there were not some major material failures 6 months into normal wear.

I took these shoes on a 14 km mountain hike for the first time. There were rocky parts on the trail. As sometimes happens rocks will move or the foot slides into crevices while hiking (running) up or downhill. The rubber part in the front does not protect the toes from the top at all. I have 3 blue toenails because of that and hopefully I won't lose them. I understand the need for light, minimal gear but this is taking the minimalism a bit too far. Please review this hiking shoe and extend the rubber part to cover the toes from the top. The fabric alone is not enough. The shoe as it is I would not recommend for hiking. It's fine for the city, camping, or even trails. Other than that waterproof works fine and the grip of the sole is great.

The waterproofing is just terrible. I have been hiking twice in Norway with the shoes. Yes, wet terrain, but I immediately got soaking wet both times. I am not new to Gore Tex shoes, I have several. But the Arcteryx shoes did so bad I am afraid of wearing them on more serious terrain.

I'm sad to write a bad review since I'm a fan of this brand but I think they need to know what is wrong to improve. I got these shoes after a long hunt and when I used them for the first time I noticed first how difficult was to put them on because nobody figured out that a bootstrap could come in handy. Second, they felt so stiff and started to hurt the upper part of my left ancle but I thought "naaa, the shoes only need to break them in but it's been three months and the shoes are very uncomfortable when walking on the city, I don't dare to take this for backpacking or hiking. And then I passed by yesterday on a grass area and these shoes trapped so much litter that I got dirty in my office and it was very annoying. I will go back to my always-reliable salomon shoes, looks like this brand has a lot to learn for hiking shoes

When I first put on these shoes it was love at first step. They were comfortable, dry and had great traction.... Everything I was looking for in a shoe. One month in I am now regretting it. The material on the shoes upper has detached from the area next to the laces. The ribbon stitching for the laces is now exposed and unprotected and it seems to be just a matter of time before they fail completely. Seems a bit like money wasted, but that first month sure was nice....

Great comfortable boots, but top eyelet broke rendering them useless. Less than two years old and casual use only. Glad I was just at the grocery store and not on a big hike. The upper eyelet design is poor and weak. Very disappointed in quality of this boot.

I bought these as my go-to day hikers. I found them to be unwearable. The design relies on the padded tongue for ankle support. If you don't get the lacing just right, then you might as well be in low tops. Also, you have to get a lot of tension on the upper laces to get firm ankle support. Normally I love Arc'teryx products, but this one misses the mark.

I've worn the Aerios FL probably around 30 times out and the top loop for the lace broke like it was nothing just a simple "pop". For the price Its obvious this product is more fashion statement then serviceability out in the field. I included a pic of the sole as its essentially a brand new shoe with no wear on the soles yet.
I just sent a message to customer support so I'll update this if possible with that experience.

I really wanted to like this shoe... but they are just too narrow at the midfoot to hindfoot area on the outside of the shoe. Other than that, they seem to be made of high quality materials and feel solid. Too bad.

Hi,
I really like the look and feel of the shoes, but after about a total 2-3 hours of regular suburban walking the left shoe started to make a loud very annoying floppy noice while walking. I'm hoping Arc'teryx can do it right here and send me a new pair.

I have never had an issue with narrow boots, and I wanted to love these. However after about 15 minutes the pain starts to build, and by 30-45 minutes I can hardly walk.
These shoes are really narrow. I have fairly normal feet, for a human, and I have never had this issue before.

I sent mine back after they started falling apart from just walking around. I was trying to break them in before I wanted to take them mountain biking. The fabric started to fall apart as if a wolf had bit into it. I sent them back for warranty repairs but was denied saying this product was not designed to be durable (FYI the warranty review process takes 3 months for feedback).
No surprise a few months later arc'teryx releases the Acrux TR GTX that uses more plastic to attempt some durability at the shoes collar.
I will likely attempt to patch mine up myself with tape since at this price point I cannot just write off my purchase.

Bought these shoes for paragliding, after a few flights over some sand dunes, sand came in between the fabric layers in the shoes and the sand cannot be removed
