AERIOS FL MID GTX SHOE MEN'S I've been wearing Arc'Teryx Apparel & Gear for over 20 years, first time purchasing their footwear. I wanted to wait until Arc'Teryx dialed their Boots & Sneakers in. The Arc'teryx Men's Aerios FL Mid GTX are nothing but lightweight Mid Gore-Tex Sneakers, and that's what I wanted. These are NOT boots! These are lightweight sneakers with slight ankle protection/support that utilizes lightweight and breathable waterproof Gore-Tex. I am looking for and wearing more and more Gore-Tex Sneakers, so the more Gore-Tex to add to my footwear collection the better! It's nice to have options depending on the season, weather, and temperature to add to my footwear quiver. You don't always want to have to wear your heavy hiking-boots that lacks underfoot comfort just to keep your good and expensive sneakers nice and clean and feet dry. Pros: Styling is super sleek as I like. They come in Black, a must! OrthoLite Insoles. Cons: That I would like to see the Arc'Teryx Designers tweak. I would like to see the midsole have additional cushioning of 1-2 mm in the fore-foot, and 2-3 mm under the heel for needed added cushioning. The Vibram Megagrip it's not so "mega", but that's fine because I wanted them for every-day use in damp rainy conditions and not to be able to slip on wet tarmac. The Vibram Megagrip is not as aggressive as expected but that's ok, it will do. I would also like to see more needed arch support. Also I noticed on the second pair I ordered that the sole and midsole glue was slightly sloppily executed. Sizing/Fitment: I feel they run true to size. BUT they do run a quarter size long in the fore-foot. I would like to see the length shortened by 2 mm! If you have a mid-volume foot and are in-between sizes I would recommend going down a half size. I always need and require a performance fit, the Aerios FL Mid GTX have that but I would like to see an additional eyelet on the fore-foot like the climbing laces set-up utilized on the Acrux TR GTX Boots. Quality: Undetermined. I don't care about grams, ounces and weight. I care about styling, fitment, underfoot comfort, lockdown, durability, longevity, and most importantly quality! As a Creative Director & Designer I've always stated and recommended to corporate, if there's footwear that's popular why not make it in two different widths, one Performance Width which is what I need and desire, and one Wide Width to make every end-user happy. Great shoes so far. They are extremely light and were comfortable right out of the box. Sizing is good, especially for a gore text, which usually run tight. I wear a 10 in other shoe brands and these were no exception. My only issue is the color. I'm not crazy with trying to match my gear, but these are a weird black blue that just doesn't seem to go with anything. A solid black shoe would of been a 10/10 in my book. Otherwise they are great so far and I hope they hold up.

The Aerios FL Mid GTX Shoe is a very comfortable shoe that makes a light weight day hiker, great for wet city walking or casual outings. While a great multi-purpose shoe, there are a few issues I have with the Aerios FL that need mentioning. Of course for those of you reading, this is only my humble opinion and observations. Fit: Fitment is nice and snug mid sole through the heal. However, the toe box is a bit tall. This seems odd to have this much volume at the toe as this can leave the wearer prone to blisters on longer hikes/walks. Is this volume there to accompany thick socks? I hope not. Thick socks defeat the purpose of an FL style shoe and is not designed for winter excursions. I historically wear a size 44, but these 44's I have are sized more like a 45. Insole: Ortholite insoles are used in the Aerios like other Arc'Teryx footwear. You can read my other reviews on that matter. To summarize, I prefer a more aggressive arch support so I always use Super Feet Green's in my Arc'Teryx shoes and boots. Laces: The laces stay tight and the lacing system works well. I did find that the laces stretch ever so slightly, so after long hikes an adjustment to your foot hold may be required. Also, the laces are too long. WAY TOO LONG. There is about 12 cm of lace that doesn't need to be there. Arc'Teryx, please reduce the lace length in your next iteration. Upper: The upper rubber has a somewhat luster appearance so any scuffs will stand out. The fabric material of the upper is abrasion resistant and while that works well, keep in mind if you kick against a piece of granite, the fabric will lose that war. They aren't bullet proof but the upper is pretty strong IMO. Coloring: I have the "black" version. They look weird in natural light though. The soles are black, the toe and heal caps are black, the side walls are black, but the fabric upper is like a faded black/midnight blue. In the picture provided by Arc'Teryx and any other store out there, the color is black. This is not so in real life. Additionally, the upper tends to disfigure after use, making the shoe look more tired and used than it is. This was self evident after a few days of use. I really don't care for that lack of quality. Sole: Vibram soles here and as I have stated in other reviews, the compound that Arc'Teryx used for their shoes is outstanding. There is so much grip to be had on virtually all surfaces you may encounter. The Vibram soles cap my review at a 4-star rather than 3-star. You will love these soles and what they have to offer. In summary, the Aerios FL Mid GTX shoe is pretty decent performance-wise, but only after a few outings looks like a tired, old hiking shoe. Not terrible, not great, but good for what it is.

Great looking and lightweight mid height boot. Very comfortable to wear and needed very little breaking in. Proved waterproof over 4 hilly, rocky and rainy hikes in central Hokkaido mountains. The mid height provides some ankle support. My issue with the laces is that they are thin and tend to loosen after clambering over rocks for the longer hikes. I found myself re-doing laces every few km. The other issue is there is a seam at the heel area where the crisscross thread pattern is exposed. Despite thicker smartwool socks, the loosening of the laces meant the heel tended to move and caused blisters for both heels during the longer hike. Have never had this happen before. Needs these issues to be addressed and this would be a great hiking boot.

Great allround shoe. Super for travel, light trekking and everyday use. A real allrounder suitable for most conditions, except the coldest, hottest, wettest and the heaviest loads. Highly recommended as your "go to shoe", unless you have special requirements. Sizing is a bit tricky, since the sizing chart correlation between euro and US sizing is a little different than other brands. Therefore, it runs a little large if you use US sizing, and a little small if you use euro sizing.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I must say that I'm a little underwhelmed by the appearance of these shoes. On the other hand their performance is astounding. Comfortable from first wear they are light and amazingly waterproof - I've walked a lot in short wet grass and even if the uppers have water sitting on them none of it gets through. Their grip on rock is outstanding. We have lots of rocky mountain paths here and these shoes give tremendous confidence walking or jogging downhill whether the rock is wet or dry. Fantastic performance.

I finally pulled the trigger after staring at these for weeks. I wear an 11 in most dress shoes, a 12 in most sneakers, and the 11.5 is perfect. I spent an hour today standing in the Gunpowder River with water over my feet and they stayed perfectly dry. Really comfortable straight out of the box, can't imagine how great they'll be broken in. Only complaint, the ankle doesn't lace very tight, so you lose some support there. Not a dealbreaker, most of my hiking isn't very technical and I only need the height for waterproofness, but another set of lace hooks up higher would make this perfect.

First off I have to say that these shoes are possibly the best pair of shoes I have ever owned. I expect that once these wear out I possibly will be ordering another pair. I haven't had these shoes very long (six weeks), but I have worn them every day since I bought them, and being that I am on my feet and moving around 9-10 hours a day, it's fair to say they have already been put through the wringer. I work on something of a small farm in the mountains of North Carolina and spend the majority of my day traversing lots of rocky, hilly terrain as well as traipsing through the mud. For my work and needs, these have been the best all-around spring/summer shoes I have found. With that being said, the primary drawback I have found seems to be durability. I know that I am quite hard on shoes and normally go through several pair of work shoes a year, but after only six weeks I wouldn't expect such an expensive pair of shoes to already be breaking down. The gore-tex stopped being water resistant during the second week of wear (only the right shoe though, left one is still water resistant), and I've noticed the sole of the left shoe has started to come off. This is very disappointing considering how much I like these shoes. Perhaps it's the conditions I subject them to, but those conditions are precisely why I often favor Arcteryx products.

A little tight around the mid, maybe I should have gone half size up. Not suited to long hikes. More of a trail boot with periodic scrambling

I have had these shoes for a month and have walked off the beaten track only twice in them. Construction is sound but have been let down by the lace loop/tab on the left boot it's just popped as I tried to pull the laces tight. Maybe this could be made more secure some how or maybe just a good old lace hole would do the job better. The shoes are now unwearable as the can not be laced securely to the foot. It's spoilt the experience of the footwear, hopefully this can be rectified quickly. I couldn't recommend this product at this time and not what I'd expect at this price point.

I've had these for a while now and love everything..unless I have to walk uphill on a maintained trail. Unlike their trail runners, which have perfectly seamless heels (awesome!), these have a huge and bulky horizontal seam right across the heel cup. Regardless of thick, thin or double socks the repetitive motion on a steady uphill trail destroys me heels every time. Surely the 2nd iteration of this boot can come with a seamless heel like the trail runners (Norvan LD for example).

Bought these "boots" around 3 months ago and I gotta say, typical Arcteryx quality. I live the finish, construction, and feel of the shoe/boot. I often run and hike in these in slicky/icy conditions and these shoes have held up very well. One huge complaint that really takes these shoes from almost perfect to somewhat annoying: their length. Compared to my winter backpacking boots in size 10, these size 9.5 boots are and INCH longer. They're so long that if I'm just walking around, they make a "flip" noise because the extra material acts as a spring. These shoes seriously need a revision to their fit. The width is perfect, with room to spare for people with wider feet. But the length is ridiculous. People dont have clown feet.

I bought these knowing that reviews said that they ran narrow. But I don't have particularly wide feet e.g. I fit comfortably into I***-8 mud claws of the same size which are a narrow shoe. Everything about the shoe made me want to love them - to the extent that I ignored the narrowness and figured that they would break in. Well after over 40 hours in these shoes of low to mid intensity use I can say that they don't break in and I now own another expensive ornament. If they do fit you then they are a beautiful shoe and they feel incredibly stable but with not a great deal of cushioning. So far the waterproofing is good and the all synthetic, welded construction is great for living by the sea which ruins leather boots - and glued synthetic boots. I bought these online without fitting and strongly recommend trying them on before trying them - and to not let their good looks convince you that they will stretch out.

Great for walking and light hiking. However the lack of a heel loop makes putting them on a bit difficult. Laces that come with the shoes are too long. Finally, fit/seal above ankle seems a bit loose as I frequently have pebbles finding their way into the shoe.

I bought these a couple of months ago, so have walked a good number of miles in them now. On the plus side, they are extremely comfortable and lightweight and seem like they'll stand up to plenty of wear and tear. As with pretty much every fabric-faced goretex boot I've owned though, from a variety of manufacturers, prolonged water exposure does inevitably mean dampness on the top of my toes, getting in where the boot flexes and the fabric creases. Certainly not sopping wet, but still enough to be annoying in what is billed as a 'waterproof' boot (and not a cheap one!). So water 'resistant' rather than 'proof' I'd say. Would I recommend? Not if 100% dry feet in prolonged wet is a priority, but yes otherwise, which leads me to... ** I'd actually love to see - and would definitely buy - a NON-goretex version of this boot for the summer months: one with all the advantages of the fit, comfort, durability and low weight, but with the added breathability that taking out that membrane would give. **

I've worn these boots every weekend since I bought them 2 months ago mostly hill walking , they are not waterproof despite the Goretex lining , the water ingress depends on the amount of rain and how long I'm out obviously however they let in. I am so disappointed. I have been applying waterproofing myself but to no avail.

The shoes are as advertised - a lightweight, hiking shoe. I used for short hikes and in an urban setting for inclement weather. The shoes still had a like new appearance and the tread is lightly worn when the grommet used to secure the laces sheared off. This is poor design or low quality manufacturing. I am waiting to hear back the reasoning product failure from arcteryx. Their assessment period to determine if product failure is covered under the limited warranty is 6 - 8 weeks. This is not a practical unless you own redundant pieces of equipment.

I consider my feet fairly middle-of-the road. Normal shape, average width. At 10.5 these shoes feel true to size (length), but I feel like they are squeezing me uncomfortably around the midfoot. I'd considered the venerable Solomon boots (replaced those with a pair of these for subtlety) and may go back, as those felt much more comfortable to me. The lack of an open eye for the top lace on these boots also reduces choices as well.
