So we usually buy KEENs for our kids because they tend to hold up way better then traditional sneakers and have a wonderful warranty on their shoes. I tried these Merrell shoes mainly because they were waterproof and living in the pacific northwest I feel their feet are constantly wet if I do not send them to school in their BOGS. These were awesome fit his foot well, not Narrow wider toe box. He is picky. Also Waterproof. I did change out the laces for elastic one s he will not have to tie mainly because if I did not he would not tie them. I would recommend. He also likes the look of them better than the KEENs

For a while I stopped buying Merrell's because the quality seemed to have gone down. But these ones look and feel like they might have improved. Of course time will tell. Overall they are comfortable and not restricting when kids run around. The laces seem to stay nice and tight. And the waterproof feature is a plus.

I hope these work out. My son complains that the tongue pushes too hard against the top, front of his foot. Now, he won't wear them. I like that they are waterproof and the colors are nice. These may need to go back.

Perfect for my boy who loves the outdoors and has a high instep (needs a wide). We actually have purchased these shoes twice, as his feet have grown!

Ordered the 2.5 wide because that’s all that was left. My son has a pretty normal width foot and there didn’t seem to be any extra room with the wide size. They fit great and are awesome for playing outside and getting in the mud. They’ve been easy to rinse off so far. Very happy with this purchase!

Son loves them. He wears them all the time and says they fit great...he is 5 years old by the way. :)

My son loved the fit and style of this shoe. As parents we loved the look and style of shoelaces (some other hiking shoes laces seem to come untied due to the style of laces used.) The laces are a bit on the long side in the size 3 shoe so if not tied just right the laces do drag on the ground...but not a huge deal. The big disappointment was that the rubber on the toe area (not the rubber sole that comes up from the bottom but the rubber piece between the mesh top and the sole) is tearing at the stitching and starting to come off. We are hoping this is just a flaw on this pair and plan to exchange for a different pair. We will continue to shop at Zappos because they carry great brands (Merrell) and large selection AND the customer service has always been great in the past need we needed to resolve a problem.

These were too narrow, despite being "wide" shoes. I also didn't feel like the quality was as good as previous Merrell hiking shoes we have owned. I returned them.

Not happy! My 7 year old son wore these for the first time in the rain, and his feet were soaking wet. They are supposed to be waterproof, however they are not even close, my son's feet were soaked. I wish I could return these, but I don't have the box or receipt. I am very disappointed.

These shoes are rugged, yet flexible and quite versatile. They offer great support and my grandson says that they are very comfortable, he really likes them. He's worn them for a few weeks and they are holding up well.

My 6 y/o loves these, though he likes pretty much any show with cool patterns. He was also excited to have real laces that he could tie himself. What I love about them is that they’re a good, solid, sturdy shoe. I can’t speak to how waterproof it is yet, as we’ve not had opportunity to use them in wet weather. I will submit another review if it seems that it is severely lacking in that regard. Happy with the purchase for now.
