This is the second time I purchased these shoes. I have a knee issue & shoes provide great cushioning, The nibs last a long time though I wear these shoes daily for multiple purposes - walks, work (while standing for long periods) and the rest of the shoe materials stay in tact. Highly recommend this shoe especially if you have an injury and need stability. I have a very narrow foot and it is hard to find shoes - this one fits perfectly,

The comfort is amazing! I love there are no laces to tie, just tighten and tuck away! The grip on the bottom has made a huge difference with little to know slipping! I love a lower profile shoe so this pair is perfect!

This is a great shoe! I also have the Speedcross 4 and I like these just as much. The other reviews are accurate - these run big. I normally wear a 9.5 in a running shoe and ordered the 9 thinking they would be about right. I ended up ordering an 8.5 which is perfect.

Best trail running shoe ever! Order at least 1 size smaller. These are made for narrow feet! They hug your ankles so securely! The unique lacing system is so quick and easy to use - and it stays tight!! Finally - Laces don’t come loose as I run! And the tread/grippy-ness is the best!! Definitely soft so don’t wear these on road runs - save them just for trails!

My favorite trail shoe! I used the Speedcross 3 (sz 12) for about 3 years and when I started training for a trail race it was obvious I needed an upgrade. Based on other reviews, I bought an 11 and 12 as it seemed to be smaller than earlier versions. I found the 5 a bit narrower and really wanted an 11.5 (doesn't exist), so went with the 12 again. They are really comfortable and great for all types of trails. No break in period. My boyfriend finally got a pair as well and he's hooked too!

I've had a pair of the Speedcross 4's that I've used a ton for the past year. I liked them except that I always wished the toe box had a little more room. Welllllll, enter the upgraded Speedcross 5 WITH A BIGGER TOE BOX and I'm in love. The traction lugs are also bigger and better. Since getting these, I've put them through a 16+ mile hike, as well as used them while I trained for and completed a Ragnar Trail relay run in Snowmass, CO. And I wear them while I play ultimate frisbee instead of cleats because I like having the extra support...they work great on both turf and grass fields. They're easy to synch up tight so you don't lose them in ankle deep mud and you can easily make adjustments on the go. Other than wishing they were waterproof (one of the Ragnar Trail loops was a total mud fest), and that the lugs were just a bit tougher (one or two on each shoe is already starting to show wear after a month and a half), these are the greatest shoes ever. Not to mention the teal/blue/purple color is beautiful to look at (when not half covered in mud). *Also as a caveat for those who have never worn the Speedcross, they run VERY large. I usually wear a 10 in running shoes, 9.5 in most other shoes...and I wear a 9 in these with plenty of room in the toes. If you have a pair of the Speedcross 4's, the sizing is the same for the 5's.

Couple of things after my first rainy trail run. Some of the reviews comment that these function as waterproof (even though they aren't sold as a waterproof shoe) which is not true. Strangely, the water didn't seem to get in from the raindrops or when I stepped in shallow puddles, but when I ran across wet grass. Then it seeped in from the toe area. So maybe if I'd skipped the wet grassy field, I too would have thought they were waterproof(ish). Second, the wide size in these is not wide! How do I know? Because I just bought a pair of Salomon Sense Rides in regular width, and the shoes and insoles are exactly the same width in both. So either the regulars in this style are really narrow, or these are mismarked or mis-described. Also, I wear 8.5 in every other running shoe brand, but in these ordered 8 based on my experience with other Salomon shoes, and they're still long. Pretty sure a 7.5 would have worked. All that said, I did like the shoe, especially in the rainy muck. It felt secure around the midfoot, and the grip was fantastic. It felt pretty flexible, and comfortable from the start. No painful areas. And the shoe is gorgeous! (If anyone cares about that). I hope that in future models they'll make it actually wide enough across the ball of the foot for us Altra types who don't like to run in zero drop. Meanwhile I'll just wear barefoot or in super thin socks.

These are good for trails, not pavement. Only complaint is that the lace toggle is very long. Thin feet like mine the lace will drag or get caught if not tucked into the shoe.

I really loved the Speedcross 4. Unfortunately the 5 one felt slightly more narrow and not nearly as well cushioned. I am going back to the 4.

The shoe is very well made, something rare now-a-days. The tongue of the shoe is sealed/sewed into the shoe so getting the shoe on is very difficult. The opening is almost for those who have a very narrow foot. The fact I could not even get the shoe on, made me put them right back into the back to return. Sad because I did like the shoe itself, very well made but way to narrow.

These shoes work great for what they are supposed to do on the trail, BUT if you have a size 6/6.5 foot or smaller, these will not fit you. The smallest they have is a "6" and it's huge. I can't figure it out. I tried on my friend's Solomon runners in a 6.5 and they were much smaller than my size 6 Speedcross. Super bummed. To help, I wear a 6.5 in Brooks and Nike and just got a 6 in La Sportivas.

I've been wearing Speedcross shoes for 5 years now. I love how light and flexible my old Speedcross shoes were. These are so different, I am disappointed Salomon would categorize these as a 'Speedcross' shoe, these look and fit like a hiking boots, the opposite of what I want when actually running trails. These soles are awkwardly thick and stiff, they are heavy, and the newly heightened heel is strange with a new shape around the nape of the foot so high that my feet (especially my ankle) ended up bruised after a short hike. In the past I hardly had to break in my Speedcross runners, but I don't see myself being able to wear these again with a completely bruised foot from a simple 3 mile hike. The stiffness of the sole caused bruising at the bend of my foot, over my pinky toe and my big toe, and then with the new shape I have bruising around my ankle. Sad. I guess I have to go find a new reliable shoe. I don't really understand why Salomon felt the need to change the Speedcross design, truly a disappointment... and an expensive 'trial', I hope I can return mine.

I have purchased 3-4 pairs of Speedcross shoes for the past 6+ years and have loved every pair, until I tried the Speedcross 5. The fit is way too big and roomy. What I loved about previous years of the Speedcross is that they cupped my narrow foot and high arch and gave me unbelievable support. I wish that Salomon would make the Speedcross in a narrow last which would fit like the old Speedcrosses. Very disappointed, have tried the Sense Pro and the Outline - both are okay, but not as perfect as the Speedcrosses used to be.

Bought these for cool-season walks and hikes in our rural home. Now they've become my go-to casual winter shoes. I like the relatively minimalist look (compared to, say, Hokas), they look good with athletic/"athleisure" outfits. Warm enough, and they keep out mud and light rain/snow. Super duper easy on/off. True to size in my normal size 7, wide-ish feet with short-ish toes. I got this as it was going out of stock (I have a sneaking suspicion that the Speedcross 5 is better than the subsequent Speedcross 6).

I have purchased this shoe twice now. Once in the green, and my current pair is in a dark blue/teal. They are so nice and light weight. I run on roads, sand, dirt, gravel.. And the lugs make me feel safe and secure. I am currently trying to decide between the speedcross 5 & 6 for this purchase.

I wore my first pair for 2 years before I even looked at the tread and noticed I had worn it down ALOT! I ran and hiked every free moment. I got my second pair 1 year ago. They've been just a great! We decided to go to Joshua Tree for a hiking vacation. I figured the terrain was going to be too hard on the shoes but I can imagine hiking with any other shoe. 53 miles later on the roughest granite rock and granite sand they are still wearable minus quite a bit of tread. What impressed me the most on that terrain was how grippy the shoes were. We ended up bouldering and pretend rock climbing and my feet never slipped! I just ordered my 3rd pair. I'll order the speedcross 6gtx soon to see how they compare. Please don't stop making these!!
