Really enjoyed these shoes, purchased them in August 2020 and about 7 months later the interior heel cup on the right shoe came undone. Now with a sharp plastic piece digging into the back of my heel, they are unwearable.

Just had these shipped to Afghanistan for a deployment, they made it exactly 1 run(2nd time I had put them on) before the material in the toe box started to delaminate and come apart. Usually love Salomon fit and finish but that is ridiculous. Zappos did their part but someone operating on the QA or warranty line at Salomon is gonna be busy. Would love to ship them back and try again but the turnaround time for mail on this side of the pond is almost as laughable as these falling apart so quickly. 1 run!

I bought these earlier this year. Do not like the speed lacing system to start. There is a reason people still use laces, the control over the support. The speed lacing system tightens the whole shoe not the specific zones as needed. The release on the system wears quickly and gets stuck. Also you have way too much excess string hanging after the shoe is tightened. They gave a pocket for this in this model and a elastic strap in another model I have purchased. Either way you end up with a string loop inevitably hanging off the shoe which gets yanked on by passing brush. The traction on this shoe is aggressive and awesome, but it wears very quickly. The big problem was that a huge section under the toe area ripped and separated from the shoe leaving me with a big flap of tread hanging off the shoe in under 3 months of use. I never had issues with Salomons years ago. The quality of construction has decreased.

I would be happy to run in these on most surfaces. Suitably resistant heel section (for me) and responsive enough to enjoy running and i love the lack of laces. However much i cleaned and cared for the shoes (I have had 4 pairs of speedcross in total - versions 3/4/5) the upper always split near the little toe - on both shoes, eventually leaving them unusable before they had otherwise reached the end of life. They were the correct size, and felt good.. I went back a few times, hoping that it would improve, however I just cannot warrant spending this much on shoes that last a couple of months.

Stitching came apart after a week. Not as good feeling As my speed cross 4. Solomon definitely though took on concern and solved my problem with them with no questions asked . Still love the products from them just missed the mark a little with this one

Not a "wide"shoe by any standard. I was stunned at how narrow this shoe fits. I don't have freakishly wide feet at all I just like the extra width to plant forefoot. This shoe is how you expect a standard D width shoe to feel. Actually narrower than some shoes I've purchased as standard width. The soles and treads appear exactly same spec as the standard speedcross5 at a glance at a local retailer. I thought they sent me the wrong shoes as they are not marked on the tongues as wide but then noticed the branding says wide on the actual shoe graphic. The part that stinks is that the soles are so narrow that your foot will actually get jammed by the outer part of the sole even if the upper is laced a bit looser. There's simply nowhere for the foot to go. Seem well built. Take forever to dry but seem unaffected by water. They run warm. Not very breathy. Other than that I wanted them to work. Feel solid. I'm pretty bummed! Been wearing them for a week or two on and off trying to get them to break in but so far can only tolerate them barefoot. Also, product page says 0 reviews but actually has 16 or more reviews I never saw or read... hmmm could have been warned but reviews were hidden or buried.

Good fit, slightly narrower than other Salomon's, quite comfortable. However, thay have not lasted. I probably have less than 100 miles on these and the cleats are completely gone in critical areas. So I will go back to the Supercross....

Mine stretched out a bunch after less than two weeks of wear. I love Salomon’s products, but these were a huge disappointment. Thinking this was the reason that they were on sale.

I had to return these shoes. I normally wear a size 9.5, but this Salomon Speedcross 5 was a half to full size larger than the Speedcross 4 that I have. Tried going down to a size 9, but they were to tight.

I have the Salomon Speedcross 4, in a size 9.5. I trail run in the shoe a lot and it fit great. The Speedcross 5 was a least a full size larger caused my foot to slide around a little in the shoe and rub the outside of my ankle bone. After about 3 mile of running I had to stop and walk back. Not sure why the a difference. Nice looking shoe but I had to return it.

This is my second pair of Speedcross 5 shoes. The first pair wore great! I've had the second pair three months. In the middle of a 4 1/2 mile outing the interior lining of the heel cup started to disintegrate causing a major blister. Today the same thing happened to the other shoe again causing a very uncomfortable blister. No changes to my exercise pattern or socks.

Love the shoe except for the higher rise around my ankle. It caused blistering and I prefer the lower style of the Speedcross 3 and 4. Otherwise the shoe is fantastic.

I own three pair of Speedcross 5s with a total of about 600 miles between them. Once they get wet, they don't dry out like the previous models did. This causes blisters, discomfort and bad smells. Only good for dry trail runs (kind of defeats the purpose with so much traction). Needs a redesign, in the meantime I'm looking for a new favorite shoe.

I've been running in speedcross for about 4 years now. No doubt, my go-to shoe. I own a single pair of road runners I wear for around the neighborhood, but seriously, only ever run in speedcross. (Typically buy 2-3 pairs a year) I was SO STOKED for this newest generation because in my experience, the upgrades have always been great. This however, was a dissapointing buy. The shoe is AT LEAST a half size larger from the previous generations, which led to TERRIBLE experience this past weekend. I headed out for my last big tranining run before never summer 100k (34 miler, 7000+ gain) with these shoes straight from the box. (ordred from this website). Put them on and realized, ohhh no, they're big. I tightened them best I could an hit the trail. Everything was okay-ish, until I hit the downhills. Like other reviews mentioned, the shoe is larger and gives room to slide around in the toes. Then, I hit snow and streams. Basically unwearable. The sole kept slidding down into the toes. Blisters. bad bad bad. I literally WRENCHED (see photo) on the shoes to keep them tight enough to make it to the car. So dissapointed. Maybe a good shoe in the right size? maybe not, either way - bad customer experience for a loyal customer.

I purchased 4 months ago. I only use the shoe on grass and soft dirt and one of the grips on the bottom came off. I attempted to warranty and was denied because it's not supposed to be used on dirt. Absolutely ridiculous but the pics show it on various types of harder terrain. Very dissatisfied.

Updates in the SpeedCross 5 sadly leave us narrow/ low volume feet people seeking a new line of shoes - it's a much bigger shoe! I'm sure the wider/ higher volume fit with stretchy toe box works well for most technical trail runners with normal to wide feet, but so do the majority of other shoes out there - including many other Salomon styles. I know the "squeaky wheel gets the grease," and I've seen hosts of complaints about the SpeedCross being too narrow for most, BUT most shoes are too wide for me and there are very few shoes out there for the low volume narrow fit mens foot. I've logged well over ten thousand miles on the SpeedCross 1-4 on technical trails and got an ankle injury on my first run with the 5s from my foot slopping around in the shoe (literally swimming in the toe box). I hope the 6 returns to the classic fit and that the 5 either dies or turns into a new line with a different name. I spent thousands of dollars trying shoes before I found the SpeedCross 1 over a decade ago, and both myself and my feet would prefer to not go through that search process again. Salomon, what shoe (yours or otherwise) would you recommend for those that the the SpeedCross 5 updates fail? My only positive about the shoe is that the larger lugs seem like they'll hold up better on rocky trails.

I was really looking forward to receiving these, as they look great and the tread is fantastic. But it is ludicrous to describe them as 'wide fit' - they are narrower (at about 100mm across) than other 'standard' shoes I have! And I have wide-fit shoes from another firm which are 120mm across. The '12mm' increase in no way translates to what anyone with wide feet would describe as wide enough. I am hugely disappointed and will have to return them.

Salomon changed their manufacturing to China instead of the last six generations (or more) that had been manufactured in Vietnam and the fit is now completely different. The toe box is wider the material is cheaper and they feel like Herman Munster boots instead of the fast agile speedcross I knew and loved!

I think the stack height vs width is too tippy for trails. At least at my height/weight/speed, hitting a cambered section sent my ankle rolling. Dealing with a bad sprain that I received in these shoes. Indeed when I investigated the amount of lateral force it took to torque my ankle on flat ground indoors, they just seemed to tip right over and exhibit a lot of torque. If you get these be sure to test a mock angled foot placement on some flat stable ground.

I bought the Speedcross 5's about a month ago and wore them a total of 1 time. I have been a longtime wearer of the Speedcross 3's (3 pair) and was excited to try the newest version. I was very disappointed after the first time I wore these because they were so tight across the midfoot and in the toe box. I figured that they may stretch a bit, but they did not. Also, the high stack in the heel left me with aching legs and hip flexors. Strange, because the 3's never did that. I ordered the same size in the 3's that I did in the 5's as well thinking that they would be about the same according to the reviews and sizing chart that was referenced. That was a mistake. I most likely would need 1/2 to a full size up. Not happy with these at all. I might have been better going with a half size up in the Wildcross with a lower heel stack.
