My wife has a similar medium Marmot jacket that she purchased several years ago. She found this medium jacket to be considerably smaller. Also the jacket's material was noticeably thinner then her exiting one. We returned it rather than exchanging it. Disappointing

This jacket lasted me about a solid year of (mostly) waterproofing, until the fabric and lining began to deteriorate and let water right through. This is a great warm weather shell if you don't mind getting a bit soggy, and is at a stellar price point, but doesn't get the job done in severe weather after a bit of use.

When I ordered this jacket, I was hoping for something that felt a little heftier. The jacket is very thin and light-weight and makes a great addition to my layering system. In a perfect world, it would be more versatile, but it definitely does the job intended.
The jacket does keep out water, but its threshold for oversaturation is pretty low.

I really like this rain jacket, except for in the rain. It only takes a few minutes in the rain and it starts to soak through. Bummer!

I've had this jacket for 6 years (bought in 2017) and have taken it on many backpacking trips and even into the snow. The jacket is well designed, but the delamination (inside fabric coating) from normal wear and tear is disappointing. The inside lamination of the fabric started to flake off after 5 years. In my experience, i was very happy with the jacket for the first 5 years, but afterwards the delamination becomes so frustrating and messy that I don't wear it anymore and finally threw it away today (6 years total usage) :[

I got this jacket for walking and cycling in rain. In light rain, it soaked through while walking. In light-moderate rain, it soaked through while biking and while walking. I haven't tried in heavy rain because it clearly won't hold up and now I just have a jacket I'll likely never use. Heartbroken.

I purchased the Men's PreClip Eco Jacket because I have the same jacket for a few years and really liked it. It was light weight and the hood rolls into the collar, so it looks and functions as a wind breaker when it is not raining. Perfect for travel. Over time, the inner lining worn out, so I purchased what is supposed to be the same jacket. However, now the jacket is made in another country and the jacket shell is a very thin, very shiny plastic look and feel. The quality is much lower. I advise looking at the better-quality Marmot rainwear even if it means having a hood that always shows or look at other brands.

The jacket seems to be of decent quality but the sleeves are too skinny for layering underneath, as is the feminine cut at the waist. If you are model thin, this would be a good jacket for you. I am 5'3", 128lbs, evenly proportioned, toned but not muscular. The medium was impossible to layer a thin fleece under. The large was a little better but the sleeves were still too skinny for comfort in bending at the elbow, and that's with a thin fleece not thick. And the cut of the feminine waist with a thin fleece underneath made getting getting into the pockets uncomfortable. Why are all the major outdoor brands catering to models now instead of athletic women who hike and backpack? They used to. What happened?? I'm not talking about just this jacket but also technical jackets for those specific purposes.
I'll give it 2 stars because it seems to be good quality but I don't know how it performs because I returned both.

Title. This jacket is affordable and gorgeous but I'm sadly not happy with it. It never beaded water well from the start and after only a handful of real rain uses this wetted out during a rainy hike in Scotland.
This in turn got my underlying puffer wet (Marmot Featherless Hoody) which has been absolutely perfect for the 4 years I've owned it.
Also, the interior "pockets"....are those supposed to do anything? There's no bottom seam so it can't hold anything. Would have been so much better if they were simply functional.
Overall, it's pretty, it's fine for light rain, it stuffs down well, but it does not hold up to the test.

I love this jacket but the first time I washed it, following the instructions, large sections of the white interior lining flaked off. I can't wear it now without getting the fibers all over my clothes (plus waterproofing is compromised in key places). I reached out to customer service, but never heard back (33955567).

I loved the rainproof-ness, strong zippers, fit and look of the jacket but after about 3 years the lining began to rub off and leave crumbs and dust on my clothes, soon after the lining gave out so did the waterproofness. This was used more for daily use and cycling, could be great and last 5+ years with less frequent use

The Production description lists features that are not shown. Features curious about are not listed or discussed, such as whether the front zipper flap has Velcro the length of the flap. As far as a recommending this product? I'll let them decide for themselves.

Bought mine in Acadia, ME. But the liner cracked around the neck and shoulder area after just a few years. It's still wearable but it leaves little white flakes on my clothing. Disappointed.

Everyone knows the sound of those pet toys that resemble stomping on an empty water bottle? The noise is abrupt & draws immediate attention to it's source. As a woman, I am embarrassed to wear a high-end garment that sounds cheap, similar to rolling up a bag of potato chips. Seeing the brand moniker, "Marmot" over my heart makes me wonder if folks admire the jacket but are thinking, "is that the best Marmot can do?" Bottom line, cheaper to cut a few holes in a lawn trash bag. I am very disappointed. The color, Sleet has a depth of colour that is unique and very attractive however, I cannot keep this noisy purchase. I am very very disappointed as everything else is perfect.

I bought the jacket online. Loved it when I saw it. Unfortunately, the inner lining comes apart easily after a 3 week's use. It's great in the rain, but it's a fragile item. It's not ideal for outdoor use if it's gonna tear like paper.
I specifically bough this jacket for the rain, but it looks like it's barely up for the challenge of 3 weeks in dry weather.

We purchased 10 of these jackets for our ERT drone crews based on past experience. The PreCip used to be a good quality jacket that would last you more than 365 days...Usually good for a few years if you looked after it. Seems like Marmot puts more effort into too many designs rather than sticking to a few great jackets. We won't be purchasing Marmot gear in the near future. Precipitation breaks down and begins to leak within a few wears.

I bought this jacket as a backpacking and day hiking rain shell. I liked the fit and the weight. I took it on an overnight hike in the white mountains last October. It ended up raining and sleeting most of the hike and this brand new jacket let so much moisture through that the puffy I was wearing underneath ended up wet. I couldn't get dry all night and have never shivered so much in my life. Very disappointed!

In a short time the interior began to deteriorate, releasing white particles.
In addition, it has completely lost its waterproofness, possibly due to damage to the laminate.
The quality of this product does not correspond at all to what Marmot claims to have.
Lost money

I finally replaced my Precip jacket. The new version is a disappointment. My old one had a two way zipper and pit zips more than twice as long as the new version. The new pit zips do not open enough to vent properly when exercising.

Was looking to replace my 10+ version of this jacket and was surprised that the designed remains plagued with the lining delamination. Ironic that "ECO" is in the title as the amount of "nano-particles" emitted should alarm any environmental warrior working at Marmot. Further, to claim this is a "general use", or "daily use" (implying light use only) garment defies logic taking into account the various features. Citing active use as causing abrasion and the subsequent delamination is "poppy-cock", your product and manufacturing processes are substandard. Again, my jacket is more than 10 years old and exhibited the same flaw as newer garments.
