I got this shoe as my daily wear. So far, it has been incredibly comfortable. 8-9 hours a day and my feet feel great. I have not tried a trail run or exercise in them, as I don't want to dirty them, but I imagine they would hold up just fine. The laces are a nice stretchy material which gives your foot some wiggle room. The sole is very sturdy but thin enough to allow you to feel the ground beneath you. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a minimal barefoot feel shoe.

This is my fifth pair of these shoes. I like them. A lot. Wear them pretty much all the time. Light, comfortable, flexible, and they hold up pretty well given the price. Even though the sole is thin, like wearing moccasins, it works well on most surfaces. Good traction. It won't stop thorns in the field and it is miserably uncomfortable on coarse gravel roads. You learn to pay attention to how you step!
Merrell has apparently been working on making them more durable as they are not developing holes at the bend points as quickly as they used to.

Aside from a little more room in the toe box than I'm used to, these are a great shoe. I'll be using them exclusively for trail running. Road running is a little too hard on the feet in such a light shoe.

Great shoes to transition with from regular, max stability shoe to a minimalist shoe. Wearing them more everyday. I have high arches and have always been told I needed supports. Finally got some good advise to strengthen my feet and let them work like they are supposed too. Instead of fitting my foot into a non natural form. Love them!

these shoes are my favorite, please make them in darker colors, without all the crazy design stuff as I need to wear for work. I can't go back to old fashioned leather shoes.

These are my first pair of barefoot shoes and the experience has been terrific so far. I've been a fan of Merrell footwear for years which is why I chose these as my first pair. They are well constructed and look really good. The price is also great, so stop fussing and just buy them. You won't be sorry.

I love these shoes, they can work barefoot or with thin socks and they are very comfortable and do not stink or peel off like a wet sock after wearing them for the whole day.

Shoes that fail to allow toe joint flexion and extension make your feet olfd before their time. Shoes that are too narrow cause hallux valgus- a syndrome that damages and creates lifelong pain.
I came to Merrell for THIS last shape. It has enough tread and sole to prevent being spiked by those famous caltrops-type seeds, allowing freedom in the semiarid and the cool places where that plant family resides.
Feet are made to strike around the ball and roll inward to the big toe, and natural flexibility (especially for those of us who grew up barefoot) is essential - Heel strikers destroy their vertebral column early.
This shoe is also very cool, with thin but strong fabric.
The elastic and flat laces are FINALLY the best I've ever had - never untying, unlike almost all shoes and boots - this alone is brilliant.
I will be buying all the variations to find what differs among the "glove" series.
I run entirely on or off-trail , with only incidental pavement, as pavement should ALL be jackhammered up to restore habitat.
The light blue color turned out fine, washes well, dries quickly.

I was looking at getting a pair of "barefoot" shoes since I usually just walk around outside barefoot when I go for walks with my nieces and nephews. But the little rocks or tree berries were just annoying me. So I got a pair of these and they are great. It does feel like you are walking with minimal shoe feel. Yes you still feel that you have a shoe on but your whole foot and toe gets more work into them since they are not constricted by a foot insole or thick material like regular shoes/boots have. I also got a pair for my father which has been dealing with foot pain for years. So far they have helped him with a lot less pain. I would say I could probably have gone a half size smaller but then maybe my toes would be too close to the top. They are light, the shoe laces have a little elastic in them which is nice to have, they are breathable but your feet will still get hot and sweaty but they dry pretty quick when you stop moving or take them off. The best part in my opinion is the wide toe box. That really does help work your toes and foot more.

These shoes by Merrell have been a godsend for me. Once I adapted to them the benefit to my feet and knees were amazing. I don't wear any other type of shoe now.

I've been wearing the Moab's for the past 20 years. (not the same pair) recently I learned of the benefits of a barefoot shoe. The vapor glove 4 is my new go-to shoe.i also have a pair of leather 3's for the weekend and weeknights. I'll still wear a Moab in the rain.

I've wore these shoes now for two weeks almost everyday and everywhere I go. I enjoy barefoot waking and these give you a good amount of protection while out in public. I ware them in the gym and they are perfect for leg day. I kick box with them and they stay on while kicking the heavy bag.
I will be buying another pair once these are wore out.

Minimalist shoe. Doesn't feel as substantial to me as the NB Minimus, but it is quite light. Good toe box which is a reason I go many times to Antra. Certainly great bargain and always superior service through Zappos.
I'd also recommend:

This shoe is perfect if you are looking for a minimal trail running shoe with low rise. I bought this shoe because of those features (I was searching for a minimal shoe). It is flexible and durable and comfortable; made with materials I consider very high quality.
The shoes are sized appropriately and this is where my problem comes in. I usually wear between a 10.5 and 11 in shoes. I have wide feet but I didnt realize how much shoe width plays a role in my comfort. I bought an 11 and they are very comfortable for a guy with wide feet, but they are noticeably long on my toes. Something I dont notice with my other size 11 shoes which were tight on the sides. Vapor Glove has a generous toe box lending to greater comfort for wide feet and plenty of room to spread my toes.
My advice: buy the shoes in your size but if you normally get a half size larger because you have wide feet that is not necessary here. I got what I paid for. Next time I'll just buy a 10.5.

I have been walking hundreds of miles in these shoes for a few years now. I like to feel the trail or sidewalk or road as I walk along, but need the protection the soles and uppers provide over just bare feet. These do not have a sole plate, so sharp items like rocks and roots can result in pain if not seen and avoided. The Vibram sole does provide traction on the ground. The shoe is lightweight which is nice for walking miles at a time without weighing down the feet. They feel snug and comfortable. I wear a thin toe sock from Injinji with them - a perfect match. I recommend these for the person that does not need or want the padded sole and does want to be in tune with the trail.

I purchased a pair of Vapor 4's to use as lightweight camp shoes on my backpacking trips. They are lightweight and have great vibram soles that provide grip on granite and the limited slopes around our campsites. In addition, the snug fit eliminates the slipping and roll inside the shoes when walking on slopes making them an excellent camp shoe. Plenty of toe room without sacrificing performance +++. I have only used them for a one week trip so cannot comment on longer term durability.

I've been using minimalist shoes for about a year now, but this is my first pair of Merrell. Unlike other brands which just offer a this flat sole and a covering, the Vapor Glove actually curves to the shape of your foot, making it easier to run in. Also most brands will have an insert to cover the foot but they often come out when taking off your shoe and can be annoying. These shoes thankfully do not have such an insert.

Great traction and ground feel make this a real replacement for the original Altra Samson or Adam. Merrell stuck with what works and added a nicely padded, slim tongue. Sizable toe box for natural splaying and anatomical fit combine to make a shoe that allows for the safest way to strengthen your feet and correct body mechanics due to the higher than natural heel-to-toe drop off many shoes. If you're not used to this type of shoe, don't give up on these too soon. Limit the miles up front if you have to and allow your feet and body to get used to true natural motion. Get used to these and you'll never look at typical shoes the same again. Your feet are the body's foundation and affect the entire muscle chain. Why not strengthen your feet by wearing barefoot shoes? You have nothing to lose (maybe besides those chunky runners in your closet).

I used VG3 for last 1.5 year and sizing is the same (so size down from other Merrell shoes...), however, VG4 is more narrow. I found VG4 to hold better my foot than VG3. It's great shoe with smooth transition, nice ground feeling and foot hold. I think that it's more comofrtable for me than VG3, becasue outsole is more flexible, softer, and maybe a bit thicker. I'm sure that upper is more durable than in VG3, but I suspect that outsole will tear down more quickly than in previous model (it's softer Vibram).
