I love these pants. They block a little wind, shed a little rain, are tough and very comfortable. I have had 2 pairs over several years. Put a hole in one during a fall with an axe and it never tore any further after that. My only "complaint" is the thigh pocket has a vertical zipper. You have to be careful when opening it so your phone doesn't fall out, especially when several hundred feet off the deck. I'd personally like a more diagonal or horizontal zipper opening for this pocket.

I am 6.1 and wear size 32. This would be definitely great pants, but they are way too short in Regular. OR, please (please! please! please!) start making them in LONG version also. I'll buy two as soon as you offer them in LONG. Otherwise great quality as always!

These pants are near perfect for so many things. They're tougher than they look, dry quick, and move with you. The elastic line in the ankle cuff works great and disappears when you don't need it. I'd like deeper hand pockets, but they do the job.

These are my everyday pant I wear them to work, Backpacking, hiking, scrambling, Scouting, yes, everyday. They are well made, fit true to size, durable and give just enough when bending or stretching to get that toe hold that puts stress on the crotch of regular pants. I would give them Five stars if the front pockets were a little deeper (so my whole hand fit inside) and if they had two thigh zip pockets instead of one.

I have three pairs, and have used them over the course of a year. They have been trekking in Bhutan, climbing 14'ers in Colorado, as well as survived 130+F temps in southern Iraq. They still look brand new, wear extremely well, and were well suited for all these environments. My only complains are the slightly tight crotch and the difficulty of finding them In Stock at OR. Otherwise...perfect.

OR makes the best fitting pants out of any company I've tried. (and I've tried a bunch of companies) The Ferrosi pants are great for warmer endeavors but work for slightly colder days as well. On the hot days, they breathe like you are almost wearing shorts. I have worn these pants on everything from desert towers, to crag sessions at the local crags (Durango area) and Many days in the mountains spring through fall. I Love these pants!!! The only issue I have seen was a rear pocket getting a hole (after a year of use) and OR had a replacement sent before the we could even send the busted pants to them! So, OR's customer service is awesome as well. Bill Grasse

I just wore these guiding a 21 day June trip in the Bob Marshall. These were just what I was looking for. I wanted a pant that didn't look like I was wearing some kind of parachute pant when I put gaiters on and that were more slimming in the legs and these were just that. I'm not quite sure what kind of belt someone would wear with these because they will support wearing a very wide one. I got the 30s and am a 30+ inseam and they fit great. I wore these with the Cascadia Gaters and I noticed there was some wear occurring on the shin area from the gaiter so I wouldn't want to do that with them all the time. They repelled water well and dried quick after stream crossings.

I've just started wearing the pants in an outdoor setting (they were too nice at first wearing them around town) and they are not only comfortable but also very durable. I wore them on an early Spring canoe outing and the material has good stretch and very tough. Front pockets aren't the best for storing keys, wallet and such. A little tight. But that's a very small point.

Just to let you know! I'm a 30" inch inseam and the pants come in 32" so I had to have my tailor remove the bungee cord hem in order to size them to a 30" inseam. Other than loosing the bungee cord hem (no big deal) they tailored beautifully. I find bungee cord hems useless. If you need protection wear gators.

A leisure walk around town or Nordic Walking the Ferrosi Pant is a winner. I'm a 34" and the pant fits like a glove (not to tight, not to loose). Just a few things to note: 1)Front pockets lack depth (for wallets, keys etc...), 2) Navy or steel blue would be nice and 3)How about a belt. I own both the Mushroom and Pewter and will be purchasing a pair in Black.

I've only had these pants for a week and I already love them! The are soft and as comfortable and pajamas and the material feels like it is born to last. I love the zip hip pockets and thigh pocket. The front pockets may be a little shallow or hard to get into. Overall I expect these to be my new favorites for hiking and climbing in cooler weather. I can't wait to wear them again, may have to order another pair in another color!

Way oversized. Would be 5 stars if they fit. I ordered the same size I wear in every other pant, and they were 3 sizes too big.

Didn't fall in love with these pants. The material is impressively thin and light. However, the trade off of this is that the material is very "flowing" and doesn't have a "sturdy" feel for lack of better words. They sort of feel like wearing polyester dress pants. I'm 5'11" and 165 pounds with an athletic build and found these pants in 32x32 to have a baggy feel, particularly in the legs. Because of the bagginess and material, you'll find your pants legs flapping in even light wind. I think the pants would have worked better for me if either the cut was more fitted or the material more rigid.

Great materials but the waist is way too big, only fits because of the internal tie cord. A bit too baggy for an active outdoor pant

Just be aware that the material of these pants is very thin. They can still work ok as a shell in wintertime because they are nicely water repellant, but the material of the cirques is much better for that. As a summertime general-purpose pant, the thinness could be good.

These are light, tough, decent-looking pants. Unfortunately, they have an odd & unpleasant smell after being worn once, unlike most outdoor pants which can be worn several times. This dramatically decreases their usefulness (e.g. for any multi-day trip). They are also very light, and don't provide much conservation of heat - so they are basically only useable in summer or in very warm climates.

Same size tighter in the waist and butt. Rear pockets lost their zippers. Leg elastics lost their clamp. Ability to pick length is good.

I really want to love these pants, they're almost perfect in every way, but... what's up with the waist sizing? I've worn a 32" waist in any brand for 15 years with no problem, but these feel like 34" plus. The rest of the fit is great, so I don't love the idea of going down to a 30" waist size. The lightweight and stretchy material is perfect, the pockets and belt loops are on point, and the looks are great. If only the waist would run true to size, I'd buy these over and over again! I tired a pair of the Ferrosi shorts in a 31", and the waist is still too baggy. Hoping for a minor redesign sometime soon. In the meantime, I'm hoping OR comes out with a pair of "Ferrosi Suspenders".

I ended-up returning the pants because I could't find a size that fit. I usually wear a size 32 waist in most brands. The 32 fit snug on the legs and had ample room in the crotch, but I had trouble keeping the pants up because the waist was loose by several inches. I returned the 32 and bought a 30. I had trouble putting the 30 on because it was so tight. Sent back, got a 31. The 31 fit well at the waist, but the pants were much tighter in the crotch and would bunch there. Sent them back, too. Also, I had the same trouble with sizing with the shorts version of the Ferrosi. Regrettably on the lookout for other pants and shorts now. Though, the return process was straightforward. Also, I'd describe my torso as slender and my legs as spindly.

Was excited to get these. Great material but didn't right. I have the voodo pants but I also read they slimmed those down as well so I tried these unfortunately they did not work

After six years of seriously abusing my beloved OR Ferrosi pants, I decided it was time to order another pair. However, upon arrival, it became apparent that OR has dispensed with most of the design features that made the Ferrosi such an incredibly versatile piece of outdoor gear.
From top to bottom:
The new version no longer includes a nylon belt. Instead, OR has installed a couple of drawstrings, which are not only ineffective but cumbersome to use. I cut them off after the first day and replaced them with an old nylon belt. The new version no longer has zippered back pockets. The welded vertical thigh pocket (on the old version) has been replaced with stitched-on horizontal pocket, which is functional but in my opinion, looks really dorky. And lastly, the new version has dispensed with the toggled ankle cuffs, which were great on hot days, as they allowed the wearer to roll up the pants legs.
In summary, while the fit and materials of the OR Ferrosi remains unchanged, most of the key design features contained in previous generations are now absent, turning this once highly functional piece of outdoor equipment into just another pair of over-priced trousers.

The pant itself seemed great. The fit in the waist was perfect. But they were too tight in the thighs and glutes. If you're a straight endurance athlete these pants are probably awesome. If you strength train - try before you buy, especially since return shipping is on you.

I bought these midway through shoulder season in Alberta and so haven't used them a ton, but the technical performance has been great. They're light, block wind and breath well. I have a Ferrosi hoodie and love it. Unfortunately as with other pieces of OR bottoms recently, they just do not fit very well. They are longer than 30 inches, and the waist is closer to a 32 than a 30. This isn't my subjective feeling, I measured the circumference. The leg is also wider than I would prefer. I am a slim guy granted, but it is frustrating when something like a waist size is inaccurate. This is a simple measurement and precision counts. Had I known I would have bought a 28, but the hassle and cost of return shipping isn't really worth it to exchange. One thing that might have helped with this and other purchases is photos of the pants on real people - it's hard to imagine how something will fit from a flat 2D image. All in all disappointing given the legendary reputation of these pants.

I've had an older pair of these for years. They have been climbing on rock and ice, ski touring in spring, running, hiking, etc....they are awesome. The newer version uses a lighter fabric and isn't as tough, while also not being that much more breathable. I wish they'd use the older fabric. Fit is good on these. The worst thing is the thigh pocket; it is too small to fit most smart phones without extra effort to get the pocket zipped. I'd take a larger pocket over the older fabric, but both would make these 5 stars once again.
