I have used my Ferrosi convertibles on treks from the Alps to the desert Southwest. I love their lightness and stretch - they move well when going hard and fast and even look pretty good when in town for a post-adventure brew. Highly recommend these pants. I own multiple pairs.

Wish the side zip pocket was big enough to hold a cell phone.

I love these pants! I've had a pair of the regular Ferosi pants for a couple years and they were my favorites. Decided to get the ones with the zip off legs for a backpacking trip. It poured rain and the rain pants I had over them were old and didn't work. When it stopped raining, I took the rain pants off and the ferosis were soaked. They dried faster than any gear I've ever had. I definitely recommend these pants.

There are now my go to pants for any longer climbing or hiking trips. The water repellency is still there after 5 washes and the fabric is stretchy making it super comfortable to active days. I thought it would be a little bulky and won't be suitable for anything other than shoulder season use but it is light enough to be great for warm weather use too. I would definitely buy it again.

These pants are great. The material is incredibly quick drying, offers full range of motion and plenty of elastic stretch to the waist so you can keep wearing them even if you go up in size for any other pants. They stay cool in the summer but plenty warm in the winter and from what I have seen so far, they are quite durable. I would recommend these to anyone for almost any use.

Hiked twice. They move well with me and keep their shape. No weird crotch figment like with my mountain hardware comparable pants. I like the fabric and hope knees and but hold up to backpacking.

I bought these as a replacement for my old Royal Robbin convertibles. I just purchased a few pair of the ferrosi shorts. Primarily I use them as my everyday shorts, and for mountain biking. I absolutely love everything about them, especially the new redesigned version. I have the 8 inch for everyday, and the 10 inch for mountain biking. I wish they had the 8 inch as an option on the convertible model because the zipper rubs across my knee. I think I would have gotten two pair if they did, and it would be a 5 star rating.

Very stretchy and moves great with the body. Been on a couple bushwhacks with these pants and they did great. I ordered the 33" waist because I'm not quite 32 anymore but I'm not 34. So glad that was an option! My only wish for these pants is that it had larger cargo style pockets on both legs rather than the slim pocket on one side. Not a fan of how a lot of styles are going in that direction, it makes hiking pants less utilitarian. But other than that, love these pants, and looking forward to more trips with them!

The previous version came with a built in belt and had zippers on the lower leg to help with the removal of the lower half which worked well taking them off over hikers. Otherwise I still love the pants, they move and feel great.

Wish they had ankle zippers. Hiking pants with ankle zippers are hard to locate. These pants are light and comfortable.

Great pants - very light fabric and pretty comfy when out hiking - better than the last pair of convertible pants I had purchased from MEC. Only complaint is that the pant length is a bit longer than I'm used to for the stated inseam (not a big deal - I just roll up the pant leg a bit).

Light, water repellant. A bit on the baggier side compared to other OR things I have, but bodes well for hiking and moving.

I love these pants so far. The fit is nice and they are comfortable out on the water for the day. The only criticism I have is that the cargo pocket could be deeper and I would have liked a cargo pocket on the left leg too, not just one on the right. I would recommend these pants.

I recently completed hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with as much OR gear because I love these products and wanted to see how they would hold up on a 5/month backpacking expedition. The truth was, after only 2 months on daily use and i mean daily, I had to switch them out to some pants I found in the thrift store because they began to deteriorate. But below you will find the positives and negatives of for these pants. Positives: 1. Water repellency: I loved how if i brushed up against a wet bush, the water would just bead down and off (sometimes into my shoes) but it would take a real shower to get water saturated. 2. Stretchiness/ this was ideal for moving over terrain, never lost its stretch. 3. Breathability/ I love shorts which is why I got the conversion pants because I can get HOT hiking. When using the pants in warmer weather as protection against mosquitoes, the breathability was there and I barely noticed that I was wearing pants. Wonderful quality. Negatives: 1. Pockets: In a long distance backpacking trip, you need various items to live in your pockets at all times for quick access. The ONLY zipper pocket on the right side was too small in my opinion and my mini pocket knife that I've had for YEARS quickly wore a hole in the pocket and fell out, as well as my chapstick. If there was more zipper pockets spread around the pants, I wouldn't have had to rely on this one small pocket to keep my secured items there, only to have them fall out through a hole. Overall, these are great weekend hiking pants, but I wouldn't advice them for a thru/hike, unless you purchase multiples and send them to yourself.

Great pants/shorts. Comfortable for day long activities. The only thing they are missing are zippers on the bottom of the pants for getting them off over my boots. Add zippers and this is a 5 Stars pair of pants.

Ive had a pair of the Ferossi shorts now for a while and have loved them, so when I saw the Ferossis were available as convertible pants, I had to order a pair. I was not disappointed as they just extend the comfort range of the shorts, just zip the bottoms on when the mornings or evenings are cool. Two zippered back pockets and a zippered thigh pocket along with the regular front pockets are nice. I'm 6' and 175 lbs and the 32s fit well. The shorts come down to my kneecaps with the bottoms zipped off. Bill Dudley OR Grassroots Athlete

Overall seems like a well built product. True to size, and comfy. However, within 5 minutes of putting them on I realized the zipper is going to chafe my knees too bad to take these on a hike. If it was any lower or higher it would have been fine, but with my size it's perfectly above my knees and rubs with every step. I sent them back new with tags - as much as the idea is cool, seems like simply rolling up the regular pants to make shorts will work just as well, and without the chafing.

I wish these pants would have a back zippered pocket for a wallet! In fact, the the back pockets are way too small to put anything in - pretty much useless! Both my wife an I have experienced A LOT of pilling of the the fabric (high wear areas, in less then a season of use)... I would not recommend these pants for these reasons...

Seem well made, fit is accurate, a little lighter material then I would have liked. The challenge of buying online I guess.

Pants fit well but was disappointed in service. Ordered them on a Sunday, 3 days before my trip, got the best priority shipping I could get (2 day) and pants didn't show up on time (I left late Wednesday) so I couldn't take them on my trip. Got home and pants had gone on sale so I let them know if you'll give me the sale price I'll keep them but no one could make that happen so I had to send them back. Disappointed that such good products aren't backed by good customer service. Will definitely think twice before I order from OR again due to this experience but pants are nice, good fit, not for me all things considered.

I use them for hiking and glacier climbing (in summer). I think the pants are quite comfortable, light, and fit great, but the lack of ankle zips is a huge disappointment. I was going to return them, but then I checked with my tailor and she is able to put ankle zips in. I don't understand the point of making a convertible pant with zip off legs without including ankle zips. After zipping the legs off, I cannot fit them over my climbing boots. I haven't tried, but I suspect they will fit over sneakers or running shoes since they have some stretch in them.
