To me this jacket embodies what makes TNF a great brand: iconic style and true protection from the elements!
I bought one of these in red back in 2002, and at some point over the course of many moves I lost it. I was super stoked to see these back in production when I went looking for a jacket that would protect me from the elements year round and allow me to layer and stay warm even in the coldest months cycling to/from work and walking the dog.

This jacket is everything I wanted in 1993 in high school and now it's the same awesome coat reinvented in 2018. Great fit, lightweight and versatile.

I purchased all of my Winter gear before I went to Russia and I will never buy my cold weather gear from anyone else.
The products to the service is untouchable.

i was looking for a cool windbreak jacket for a couple of weeks and finally i found out this one. and I've been getting this on me every single day since its delivered to me. it has several pockets inside that u can bring everything u need and zippers on the sides so that u can feel the wind come in through when u feel hot or sweaty whenever u need and its a bit thick so u can tell that its strong and warm enough. its not like a plastic bag windbreak jacket at all. all i wanna do now with this jacket is travel through all over the world. this jacket is perfectly perfect to me at least

This jacket is the real deal. I've never worn a jacket before that made me feel so good.
It's all about the GoreTex. This is the most premium of technical fabrics that will allow you to conquer the elements and the outdoors, whether it's in the city or on the mountain. It's not too thick and bulky, so be sure to layer up or zip in if it's cold out there.

I bought this same jacket in 2002. It is still in perfect shape and wears just the same as the day I bought it. I love the style of the new model with the buttons rather than the velcro down the front. This new model is a little lighter and smoother material. I love this jacket!

The 1990 Mountain Jacket will stand up to pouring rains and with a few layers some pretty bitter temperatures. It does what it says that it will.

Purchased this jacket for an upcoming fly fishing trip to Alaska. Needed a GTX jacket to keep out the rain since the weather is hit or miss in July. Been wearing it on raining days here and it works great. Would by it again.

I bought this exact jacket style in 1988 to climb 20,000 ft. +/- peaks in Bolivia and Peru, primarily. That SAME jacket I still have - although it is no longer waterproof due to all the UVs that have weakened its goretex shell. THAT jacket essentially lasted me 31 YEARS! And I used it every winter (skiing, climbing, AK fishing) and also took good care of it. That is amazing. Build like a 4Runner. It's pockets did "blow out" after time, but the shell remained protective. Zippers never failed. So, yes. Of course I bought the 1990 retro version of this same jacket. Wont need to buy another until I'm 81. Now, that absurd. The 1990 GTX reinforced its pockets and added a hood strap - otherwise, same jacket. If you wear Patagonia gear to be stylish or Northface vests to your office job, this jacket is not for you. This is a 4Runner, after all.

I've had my jacket since 1995. It's the best jacket I've ever purchased and it looks and feels as new today as it did back then. I sent it back to North Face for a broke zipper last year and they fixed it no charge and fixed all the velcro pads and replaced them to look brand new. It's in the back of my jeep right now and ready to go! I love this jacket and I love North Face. Keep putting out quality like this!

A great versatile jacket that works in the rain or paired with another zip-in compatible jacket (like the Denali) or just another base layer makes it a 3-4 season wear. The jacket does fit large compared to other TNF jackets with TONS of fabric on the arms.

The things I really like about this jacket are the added features. Plenty of stowaway concealing, very versatile and roomy enough it works with inner insulating. There's nothing not to like.

I do a lot of camping in wet and cold weather, so I bought a version of the same jacket years ago. I always found the jacket to be a top performer and especially love the Goretex to keep me dry in the wet weather. In addition, when you wear layers under the jacket, you are able to stay warm and dry without any loss of mobility. I have looked at a number of North Face jackets, but the Goretex 1990 mountain jacket is still my favorite,

I have owned my 1990 Mountain Jacket since the late 80's and it is by far the coolest looking and best functioning of all outdoor jackets that any other company has made. The new outerwear jackets that Northface makes today are just not that cool looking like the 1990 Mountain Jacket... in fact they are boring looking. I have put my 1990 Mountain Jacket to the real test of a variety of outdoor activities and this jacket is beyond the word tough and it still looks brand new. When going out in the wilderness I trust my life to this jacket and I never leave it behind. If you want a perfect outdoor jacket buy this one before buying their new outerwear jackets. As far as I am concerned you can not improve on the best!!!

This is an amazing jacket with little to no flaws. From stylish to functional there are no problems with it. Comparing to its competitors, this is a little on the cheaper side while still standing out. The only problem that I dislike is the quality of zippers compared to the vintage gore tex. They feel a lot cheaper with smaller zippers rather than the larger solid ones.

I've used this jacket for a few hikes and it is perfect. It's a great weight and thickness to protect from the wind and elements but not too heavy to feel overbearing. The drawstrings at the waist allow for a fit closer to the body which helped to keep it out of the way when climbing up rocks or jumping over gaps. I ordered the purple color and I love it. I've already taken a few scratches and falls and the jacket shows no signs of wear yet.
