It gets really hot in Colorado, even at high elevations. This is a great hat for anytime outdoors! I wear it for my daily walk, gardening, hiking, on picnics. It's very adaptable to changing conditions, and very lightweight. It keeps my head cool when the heat is intense. Keeping a cool head helps everything else feel cooler, too.

Spent weekend at pool and beach, face did not get burned. Needed a hat with a bigger diameter to shade more of my face, and this one provided just that. Love the fact it has a neck cover for even more added sun protection that can fold up into the pocket if you dont need it. The quality of the hat reflects Columbias reputation for making great products, with thoughful designs for comfort and protection. Would recommend this hat to anyone going to a lake, beach, or camping trip.

This hat has the wide brim of a boony and the cape of a desert hat. The neck cape is essential for keeping my ears and neck cool, dry, and sunburn free. Unlike a neck gaiter, the cape allows for airflow around my head and neck. And it conveniently packs into a pocket when you don't need it.

Purchased this item for protection out in the sun. Worn this a few times and seems to do a good job giving me the protection I was looking to purchase. Does seem to provide cooling compared to other hats that I have own. I would purchase this product again.

That says a lot. Wider brim than my previous Booney hat, with great coverage. The brim is wide enough that the fold-away cape is almost superfluous. The color is more olive, less yellow than the online photo (I prefer the color of the hat I received). I like the drawcord adjustability.

I bought it to go to Bryce and it helps me even when I watch the tennis matches without getting my face burned. I love it!

After being an avid user of the Bora Bora II Booney, was excited to try this new one with Omni-Freeze tech and the cape. Have already used on several dog walks and hikes in Southern California. Definitely feel the difference in keeping me cool and protected from the sun. Now my go to hat.

This hat does exactly what I expected it to--protect my head, face, and back of my neck. It washes just fine. Comfortable fit.

This is the third CoolHead hat we've purchased for our family. The adjustable drawcord makes is very easy to fit, adjust and grow with. Our sons love the omni freeze feature in the headband for our hot summer hikes. The hideaway neck cape is also a plus to keep their necks from getting sunburned and there are small velcro pieces to attach the cape to so it's not flopping around defeating the purpose. My only feedback for functionality is that while the brim is good sized and packable it's kind of floppy and in a heavy rain it doesn't do a great job of keeping the rain off of you. The brim droops over your eyes and I wish the brim had a little more structure to keep it from doing this. I wish it came in more colors.

Perfect for cutting grass or being at the ballpark

My girlfriend got this hat when my last one finally gave up on me. Pros: - If you hate having a chin-strap, the cinch around the crown is a god-send. - even in 80 degree weather my head stays cool, but I stay dry in the rain. - the mega-wide brim keeps the sun off my neck and shoulders always. Cons - the cape is neat (I guess), but having it constantly packed up in the back of the brim constantly pulls the hate down in the back, so you have to readjust if you want the brim low in the from.

I am not usually a hat wearer but because of my thinning hair, I purchased the hat for sun protection. It's durable, lightweight, and has a good airflow to keep you cool. I tried the cape when I received the hat, it's functional and the best part is you can easily pack it away once you have used it. The chin strap acted as a way for me to hang the hat around my neck when I wanted to take it off. Overall very functional and comfortable.

I live in Florida and am in the sun all the time. I spend a lot of time outside golfing, beach walking, hiking and doing beach cleanups, driving a convertible and on the water in kayaks and powered boats. The hat provides a lot of protection from the sun and stays put with the adjustment around the head and under the neck. When it is really blazing out, I put down the rear neck protector so I don't burn on my neck. It tucks away into the nice pocket on the rear of the brim. I use the little velcro tabs to keep the neck protector from moving around. I even tuck a few bucks in the pocket so I have it handy when I am on the go. The brim is large enough to provide very good coverage and protection and the hat keeps my head cool. I appreciate the little details on the hat. I wish I would have known about this hat sooner but alas, this is now my favorite hat.

This hat is adjustable and stays put. I use it to mow , by the pool, and to go jeeping. I bought my daughter and daughter in law one as well.

I love the coral red color which matches a tiny piece of coral red on my gray flip-flops and my coral red tank top. The oversized head allows excellent airflow and wonderful cooling. The coral red chinstrap keeps the hat from blowing away at the beach. The nylon fabric is lightweight and very comfortable. The material is thick enough to provide excellent shade.

I love this hat! It is lightweight and is cool. It is large enough for a large head, but you can you can easily tighten it to fit. The neck guard folds neatly into a pocket inside the hat, so it doesn't flap around when not in use.

Amazing product high quality couldn't ask for a better hat

I had high expectations for this hat and have not been disappointed. I needed something both comfortable and functional to protect my head and neck from the hot GA sun doing yard work. I also wanted a stylish hat to where on boat outings with friends and family. This hat fits the bill and then some. It's a perfect fit and very comfortable.
