We bought two each of these for a bone fishing trip to Mexico. Kept us protected from the elements and we caught a bunch of fish (because of the shirt)... If you want to stay cool and be protected from the sun, I highly recommend this shirt!

As a fly fishing guide protecting myself in the sun daily is very important to my performance and health. Admittedly, the reflective dots were a turnoff at first, but when a guest sent me a Deflector I figured I owed it to him to give it an outing and see, so glad I did. First of all the shirt is cut great and just hangs on the body in a great way that is very comfortable. It's light and very well appointed with thumbholes, perfectly cut hood and the built in neck gaiter couldn't be better hanging loosely around your neck when down or just snug enough to stay up when brought up over your face. As for the heat deflecting reflective dots, they work, Im consistently rating myself as cool when I ask others who say they rank as warm. Seeing how it has performed lead to me ordering another and I would love to see other colors added to the lineup.

Bought this for my husband. We're both serious fisherman and this shirt is perfect for the boat. It's light enough to keep you cool with an unforgiving sun on the water but also easy to clean when a large fish makes a mess. The built-in neck guard is a nice feature to compliment the hood. Would highly recommend.

This shirt is light weight and permeable. There was some skepticism about whether or not wearing a hood and and neck gaiter would help to keep cool. However, this shirt does just that. The neck gaiter remains in place whether over the nose, above the lips or under the chin. This allows for a range of fit options. Together with the hood the neck gaiter, sunlight is completely blocked. The thumb hole fits well and provides the hands with protection from the sun. Some griping material over the small portion of the palm near the thumb hole would be awesome. The omni-freeze technology works well when sweating in a breeze. Great sun protection! A must have!!

In tropics, not only monsoon rains are to be dealt with, but prickling heat and humidity also give some discomfort. Fieldwork in the tropic-environment is challenging one aside from a sunny holiday fishing. This Columbia Terminal Deflector Hoodie offers comfort under the sun, thanks to its UPF 50, deflecting sunlight rays, feeling much more relaxed. With the neck gaiter and hoodie, it adds protection to the more sensitive parts. The over-all material gives a light and soft feeling to the body with the Omni Wick tech; sweat can't that stay on the body for long. Working under the sun is more like a holiday. Highly Recommended.

I bought one of these shirts and I absolutely love it. The sun deflecting technology really works. When wearing one of these shirts you will notice how you stay cooler. I now own a couple of them. Jake M.

I have two of these in green and black. I have yet to test them in 120 degree Palm Springs, but on hot days in California (not many this year--thanks to global cooling) they performed well.

This has kept me cool and protected while in the hot sun. The hood is great for keeping the sun off your neck and the material is very light and comfortable.

I bought this for my husband, he is an avid bass fisherman, he is in love with it. Thankfully, I purchased two, because he wears them even while not fishing. His favorite feature is the internal neck gaiter, he usually does not wear one b/c of forgetfulness, now he doesn't have to worry about it.

I have lupus which makes me very sensitive to the sun to the point that I had stopped going outside. With these shirts I am outside again and living my life. I just wish there were more color options

We fish the Sea of Cortez which can be blazing in the summertime. Love this coverup to keep the sun off arms, torso, neck and head! Super lightweight, breathable fabric. Quick drying too. Highly recommend.

This hooded shirt does it's job very nicely. Overall I am very impressed with the shirt and it absolutely lives up to my expectations. I will not hesitate to wear it from late spring to early fall. Any time that I need protection from the sun but it isn't cool enough for a hoodie. I believe this shirt will work best when it is hottest out as far as keeping you cool and am excited to use it. The length is slightly longer than expected and that is great. Could maybe go for a bit more length in the arms to be able to use the thumbholes I was slightly worried about it being a bit form fitting but it isn't. It fits just about perfectly, if you use their size chart it will fit l. The material had a slight sheen to it indoors but in full daylight it is actually pretty bright. You can see that it is reflective, not like a disco ball but enough to be assured it is indeed doing its job to keep you cool. The fabric is very thin and breaths excellently. I normally wear things from a well known sports brand that specializes in moisture wicking clothing and this shirt is remarkably similar only of a higher quality and or a higher funtioning level than just using it as gym wear. I ordered the green shirt and it is really nice color. I will be ordering at least one or two more shirts as this has quickly become my go to shirt for any amount of time in the sun. As a side note, I would love it if they used this same material to make some pants and a more protective hat instead of a ball cap. If you are on the fence buy the shirt you will love it.

I bought this shirt mainly for fishing. Very comfortable, and protects from the sun. When I go fishing I am on the water several hours, and it is great. I will be buying more.

I bought this hoodie for use on a 10 day vacation in Tahiti on a catamaran. First, I'm a very light complexion bald man in his 70's, who burns just thinking about sun exposure, and needed protection from the tropical sun while snorkeling. This was cool and comfortable, and I wore it in the ocean every day while swimming. Easy to rinse out and dries quickly for next day use. Didn't get a bit of sunburn on my old bald head! Perfect for a tropical vacation!

You can't beat this. The reflector protects from sun, the hood and the built in neck gaiter make it possible for full coverage. Thumb holes allow to have sleeves cover tops of hands as well. This is always overlooked in men's products. Stoked on this shirt. Aloha.

I bought last year, yes , I got surprised with the matria and the shiny material. But the fact is, it keep me protected from the sun . I definitely recommend!

Great product, fits as expected and works better than advertised! It has a pretty serious sheen too it though that I assume aids in deflection of heat but I either didn't notice when I ordered or it isn't advertised. When my wife opened it she laughed and thought I ordered some kind of disco shirt. I give zero f's about that sorta thing so I wore it on a rafting trip and it worked amazing. It also dries way faster than you'd expect. I was also impressed with the deep hood that allows it to drape over your head more like a robe than a hoodie and the addition of a neck gator is a nice touch. I'm pleased with the purchase and would recommend it.

As advertised. I like the thumb holes, hood, gaiter, reflective dots, etc. The gaiter makes it feel a bit bulky around the neck and covers your head when putting it on. Not super breathable for high intensive (sweaty) activities, but still comfortable. Heavy but comfortable when wet. Dries faster than normal fabrics (cotton) but not quick dry.

I had a melanoma cut off of me so I take sun avoidance seriously in spite of being a runner and cyclist in middle Georgia. This theoretically is the latest in wicking sunblock technology and it seems to be working well. So far it has been not too hot in 80's weather. I try to get out early so I hope the 80's are the worst I have to experience. I like that there is no big obvious "Columbia" on the sleeve. The "Columbia" is there but it appears to be the gray reflective material which I would hope is a good thing in the dark. One thing, I think the sizing runs small. I am a slender 6 foot guy, and take a medium in a lot of clothes. A medium in this was very tight, and also the sleeves were much too short. Even when I got a large, the sleeves were barely long enough to put my thumbs in the thumb holes.

Great shirt, true to size. A little warmer than the original PFG hoodie. The build in gator is a great addition.

I did not notice in picture that there is a silver underlayer. Must be heat deflecting, I liked it but husband did not on him.

I work outside on a golf course all day and find this to be very comfortable. The shirt keeps the sun off and never feels too warm. It washes up easily too. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I just don't like all the large graphics, I feel like I should get paid for advertising. All in all a great shirt.

With sports venues requiring face masks even if outdoors (uggh) I'm hoping that this shirt will keep me cool and cover my lower face at the same time. Long sleeves to protect my skin from sun more important to me.
