I am switching to this model of Hokas from the Bondi model so I have better support for over-pronation. These are way smaller than my Bondis. I am keeping them ans hope they stretch out over time. The inner foot support is better. They also squeak when I walk. I ,don't care really because I walk mostly outside but I am disappointed in the quality.

I found the shoes to be too narrow. I don't have wide feet. Never wore a wide shoe size in my life. I could only do about 6 miles before I felt that these shoes aren't so great. Given that info and the fact that I feel these shoes are ugly I would not recommend them to anyone. Also I have tried to unsubscribe from any more email from Hoka to no avail. Please stop sending me messages.

I tried this style of Hoka's in an attempt to find the comfort they offer with their dense foam cushioning as well as stability around my foot. Unfortunately, at the end of my first 3.5 mile run in them, I had massive blisters on the ankles of both my feet - very painful. Wish I could've kept these! I did end up purchasing the New Balance 1080v10 and they are amazing - highly recommend them as a better alternative to the Gaviota's.

Not as comfortable as the Gaviota 1 was. Still a good shoe but I wished I could still get the one.

The second pair of shoes were too small. I am hoping that 3 times is the charm

The quality is average. Hoka has been modifying the designs of recent where the shoes are less constructed. For example, the Gaviota is all mess material on the upper part. There is no foundation border around it, so these shoes tear sooner. The same has occurred with several models. I like Hoka's brand so I I hope that new designs create a better constructed, longer lasting shoe.

I moved to the Arahi 4 to gain some cushion and lighten the weight over my Brooks. I do like the light weight of the shoe, but the "J frame" is very aggressive. In fact, if I'm walking or doing a slower pace, it pushes me to the outside constantly. It's unfortunate. However, if you're a severe over pronator even when you run a slower pace or walk, this shoe could be for you.

I have been a fan of Hoka Clifton 5 for a long time, but they are no longer available. Walking was a joy and I could stand for hours. So I have tried almost every Hoka model in an effort to find something comparable to the Clifton - thanks to Zappoos. Gaviota 2's were comfortable, but big all around in fit and looks - almost like clown shoes. I hope Hoka will look at these reviews and stop changing their most popular models. The only change I would make to Cliftons is to make the toe box just a bit wider.

I put them on and immediately felt the crunch in my feet. The mid soul and heel are perfect so going wide would only cause those areas to be too loose. I'm guessing all the other features and quality are okay. I ended up purchasing the ALTRA Provision 4 which has a more roomy toe box.

I bought the black pair of Gaviota 2, probably my 4th pair of Gaviotas. During month 2, my right shoe was really pressing hard on my pinky toe. I had to wrap it on runs, which lead to blisters. These felt more inflexible that previous pairs. I returned these and bought the Hoka Rincons and they are like heaven. Fits wonderfully and looks way less bulky than Gaviotas. No foot issues at all.

Gosh, I so wanted to love these shoes! The support and cushioning is so much better than the new (and NOT improved Arahi) but the heel pain is unbearable. I have a normal width foot, so bec. this is a wider shoe w/a definite flared/bulky heel (great for stability not so much for comfort) I attempted to adjust my sock, lacing strategy and everything in my tool box to get a comfortable fit. It seems to me that the material is both rough and stiff, and that is what is causing the heel friction, bec. I can tighten it up pretty well using the rabbit ear technique, but the pain is unrelenting. I hate to waste so much money, but these shoes need modifcation before I can try again. (I am currently attempting to stick a heel guard on the back for some cushion and to tighten the heel, but first I have to give my aching, bruised feet a chance to recover.

I'm disappointed in these shoes. It was my first time trying Hoka. I appreciated that they came in wide in size 5. I usually wear a size 5.5 in other sneaker brands, but tried wide in both 5 and 5.5 and found that the 5 fit better. The wide width accommodated my wide foot and bunion. I liked the cushioning and felt good running in them. I had the Mood Indigo color and liked it because it wasn't bland but also not too bright. However, I wore the shoes for less than 1 month and for under 100 miles of running when a lace loop on the left shoe broke. Not worth $150. The arch support is just ok, so I use Currex inserts. They're going back. I'm not confident that the loop won't break again on a new pair, so I won't try Gaviota again. I don't know if I want to bother trying other Hoka shoes after this experience. If I do, I would only try if the lacing is through the shoe and not through a loop.

I have loved my Hoka Gaviotas in the past but I'm disappointed that these already have a hole in them on the inside of the ankle near the laces. I mainly use these for walking on sidewalks/streets so it's not like they have have been used in overly hard conditions. I've never had a problem with my previous Hokas.

Love these shoes. My podiatrist recommended them + Mizuno as the brands with the best support. So I run and walk heavily in these daily -- 25k steps a day and couldn't be happier...for the most part. Except: five months in, the left pinky-toe area is showing massive deterioration on the sole. It's almost completely worn down in that area. I'm almost 50 and have never had abnormal wear before...my treads always get evenly, consistently on both shoes. But for whatever reason, the left foot in this area is just wearing down fast. Is it a one-off? A quality issue? No idea. I'll be buying another pair and will revise my review then or post a new one.

The cushioning in this shoe is great and feels much more comfortable than any other shoe I have run in. I'm pretty consistent in shoe sizing though and this product feels too narrow. I've never had to buy a "wide" shoe but will with this brand.

Not made same as my (3) other Hoka shoes. They seem like they are made cheaper or with less care as my first shoes.

I wanted to try the gaviota, but I am not able to wear them comfortably. I wish I could trade them in for the Bondi 6 that fit my foot perfectly and feel like I'm walking on clouds.

This shoe is made well ,I say shoe because it doesn't feel like a sneaker . It is very heavy and even looks a bit clunky .I already wore them a couple of times , so I did not return them .

I love this shoe! It is quite comfortable, however after just two months the heal area on the side has worn down to the plastic. Quite disappointing.

They are my workout shoes (low impact only), but my feet need a much more comfortable style, like the Clifton 4.

I use these as my running sneakers as I suffer from a lack of arch and need extra support. The support is great however after a couple runs I noticed more pain around my ankles and hips. This pain is unusual and realized it was from the sneakers.
