I really wished these worked. Unfortunately, unless you have a genuinely narrow foot, they won't work for you. They run super narrow and maybe a tad short? Not quite sure on the length because the width was so narrow. I'd suggest something like the Challenger ATR or the Stinson for a Hoka shoe with a wider fit.

Boom! These shoes push all others off to the sidelines including Saucony, Brooks and a few other high end names. I weigh in around 225 and love to Trail Run at Umstead Park. Speedgoat has provide the best lateral support while running over roots and rocks compared to any shoe i've used previously. A little background; I've turned my ankles about 3 times playing basketball back in my 20's and 30's which makes my ankles prone to a turn on trails and these shoes offer the stability I never knew existed. The other great thing about this shoes is the landing and I don't know how Hoka did it, but these shoes land and track like a Cadillac. When landing the first thing the shoes do is "Grip" and the second thing they do is fast to slow cushion the landing for a perfect and comfortable strike every time. I've read reviews about how people run all day in these shoes, but they never explained why and the reasons are explained above. As for the "toe box" there is plenty of room for most people. I've had trouble with Saucony's lately because their size measurements are based on the outside in which forces me to go up a size and the shoe then has too much room inside which translates to a uncomfortable and potentially hazardous trail run. Hoka speedgoat was designed around the foot out and that works for me. Many folks like to wear running shoes at work and wherever and speedgoat is for trail running only. The casual user of shoes could find these shoes to be uncomfortable after just 10 minutes of walking - these are not designed for walking or running on pavement as the tread is way to soft and meant to grip. That's my non-pro opinion for what's it's worth. Trail-runners and Ultra - Runners, this shoe could be the best shoe you have ever owned. Lastly, my expectations for the shoe is lower mileage before replacing and increased personal mileage due to comfort.

I love these shoes. They took a long time to break in. I almost returned them. I am glad I didn’t. They are so comfortable now and I feel really sturdy when I run wearing them. The color is awful but if you are using them right they should end up being brown anyways.

These are great. The differential is minimum (4mm I think), making for a pretty efficient ride. The tread is awesome, so grippy I don't even slide on my slimy deck in the rain. Super soft foam so you don't feel the rocks. Sometimes I run on asphalt with them and it doesn't feel weird. These shoes have made me a Hoka believer. They're a little narrow, but I loosened the laces, and they are stretching out a bit and fitting just right now.

If you liked the speedgoat 2 you will like these. Essentially the same shoe, and that’s a good thing.

This is a *glorious* trail shoe. I live in in Hong Kong, where the terrain and humidity are both extreme. The grip on these shoes is simply incomparable. I previously owned a pair of Salomon Ultra Pros that a well-regarded running store here in HK recommended. They weren't even close -- not in grip, durability (my toe broke through the top mesh within 3 weeks of not-very-heavy use), or flexibility. These feel incredibly stable even on the Twins, where a notoriously steep, 1200-step staircase is designed for people who definitely aren't 6'2" in 10.5 size shoes. A note on size: 10.5 is a half-size bigger than is typical for me. That may have eliminated the width problem others have noted.

I have been interested in trying out the Hoka shoes for quite some time. I enjoy trail running and I am always looking for shoes that have lots of comfort and support. I have been using Brooks Cascadia's in the past. I call them my SUV trail shoes. They kinda go over everything. But they are a tad bulky, but get the job done. I have a little pronation so I like comfort but don't like to sacrifice stability. I decided to try the Hoka Speed Goat 3. I read all the reviews and got the impression that they were a bit heavy and built for ultra-marathon type running. I run between the distance of 3- 13 miles in relatively rocky, sandy and steep terrain. I decided to order them since I am not too concerned about weight. When they arrived the weight was amazingly light compared to other trail shoes I have purchased. And, my first run with them was simply cush with all the support I needed! I'm glad I purchased the Hoka's.

I know nothing about running or running shoes. I bought these as an alternative to using light mountain boots for walking the dog around my neighborhood. These are the first shoes I have worn in years that support me without using my custom orthotics. Their calcaneus and metatarsal support is amazing. They are comfortable, light, secure, and springy. What a find!

Great shoes. Light but solid support. Excellent cushion for those with hip issues (like me). They do run about a half size small. These will be perfect for both adventures and kicking around town.

Hoka's best version of the Speedgoat. The soles were perfect here. Version 4 are still good but when they lightened the shoe and added "responsiveness" they lost some of the great feel that version 3 had. Version 5 the cushions are just dead and mushy and I feel every piece of gravel I step on. Please revive the Speedgoat 3 cushions, but keep any width that has been added to newer models. The weight of Speedgoat 3 was not heavy. I only weigh 130 and the beefy shoe is awesome.

Most comfortable trail/road shoes ever. I run 12-15 miles per week mixed terrain, I'm 51 and this is my second pair of these. Put about 400 miles on the last pair and they're still in rotation. Perfect shoes

I normally like a 8.5 women's shoe in a wide option. I sized up (men's 7) and ordered a men's version and am very happy with these shoes

Wanted a pair of Speedgoats for winter running and some limited trail running. The 3's went on sale so I pulled the trigger on these. I normally wear Clintons and Rincons for road running. Love having these in my shoe selection. They fit great right out of the box with no break in period. They have the classic Hoka comfort in a more rugged package. Heavier than the road shoes, but a reasonable trade off for the additional protection from the elements and trail. I've loved all my Hoka's, these are no exception.

A few years ago I was seriously contemplating giving up running to protect my knees. Then I found Hoka's. Literally, what an amazing ride. I've owned Clifton, Challenger, Speedgoat and Mafete and all have been a joy to wear. My focus is on trail running, orienteering and adventure racing, so if you have any doubt as to the durability of these shoes (specifically Speedgoat and Mafete), don't worry, they can handle off trail as well as off road.

Bought this for the added cush and the killer grip. I've got some post neurma operation tenderness and I feel absolutely no pain when I walk and hike in these.
