Ordered wide, and they are wide. Comfortable, if a bit cloddish as a result of the width.

I am hoping to like them when I finally get them!!
The10 Gaviota runs small 1st time customer and had to return. I wear a 10 in all other shoes- keen, new balance, Aldens,J&M but we will see how a10.5 fits. The10 I tried felt great just a little small. The return sat with Hoka for 2 weeks with no response. I texted with a great CSR that had a pair shipped within an hour, thus the3 stars

Less quality than I was expecting to get from this brand since I had a pair of shoes before and they were amazing, feeling that the cushion wasn't enough supportive for the high price, wasn't very happy with this purchase. But I keep them since I didn't want to deal with a returning process.

I over pronate so I had high hopes for Gaviota. But they were tight across the top of my foot and no amount of loosening stopped the discomfort. I sent them back today. I also had a tough time getting advice via Text support whether I should try the Gaviota 3 or the Bondi 7 (I have Bondi 6's and they are incredibly comfortable.) It took hours for someone from Hoka to get back to my text and when they did, they hadn't seen the Gaviota 3 yet so they really couldn't advise me. Now I'm torn between trying the Gaviota 3 or the Bondi 7 but I'm leaning towards the Bondi. If only the Bondi came in better color options. Please?

I should have tried on before buying. My coworker wears the Bundi and loves them. Each style is different. Try on first. Will buy again but will try on at store.

The shoe feels awkward and sluggish for runs that it tires me too quickly.

I wanted good shoes for 12 hours shifts, expecting: good support, cushion and compatibility with a high arch . I wore those shoes for 4 hours, one day , but my feet hurt specially my heels. Tried another day, but still didn't work:( .

I tried hard, because I see the merit of these shoes, but I concluded they are not for me. I am a heavy endurance runner with delicate and wide feet. Surprisingly, these fit me well in EE size, i.e. were wide enough on the front while locking well the heel. I also believe they will last a long time. Finally on the pros, they provide great stability, with wide and well engineered foot step, although never scratched my ankles like some stability shoes tend to do. Nevertheless, despite relatively high isolation I found the contact with the ground too hard for me, as I can feel the pounding on my metatarsals and calves. I attribute that to the characteristics of the layers used in the sole, which sacrificed absorption for the sake of stability. Since I like the construction and their look I will keep them as walking shoes.

These are not the HOKA's of 10 years ago. I'm disappointed and besides the left shoe is narrower than the right shoe.

I am normally a normally a clifton guy, but decided to give the gaviota a try for the increased stability. This particular shoe does not seem to have the cushion that seems consistent with the clifton. I did not notice more support from the clifton. I would really like to see Hoka produce a cushioned shoe with much more arch support, a slightly bigger toe box, and a better back end of the shoe for heel and ankle tightness. Overall, not a bad shoe, but not my favorite pair of Hokas.

I really wanted to love these shoes. They have plenty of cushion and support and they felt comfortable with my plantar fasciitis. However they cause some of my toes to go numb when running. I tried adjusting the laces but still had the issue so they are being returned. The only other issue I have is that the laces were so long they touched the ground even when tied. Otherwise these are a great shoe just not for me.

These shoes are roomy and slipper like. I don't feel like I am fully supported - especially in the arch.
They are a wide, but in addition to the shoe portion being wide it feels like the soles are extra wide and extend out like there are bumpers. I am tripping all over the place because they are awkwardly wide - beyond the foot. They feel like clown shoes.

This is a good looking shoe, however, it did not help with my foot problem. I wore it for two days, but my foot ached more after wearing them than before. This shoe has a weird rocking area on the very back of the shoe that caused the area over my arch and my outer thigh to ache with each step. It felt very uneven on the right foot, whereas, the left foot was fine. It may have been a flaw in the right shoe, but I decided to return. I need a good deal of stability and this shoe did not work at all. It is also a narrow fit.

If you think you're foot isn't wide, it is. Also, order half a size up. I have ingrown toe nails from my toe constantly hitting the front. The shoe itself is comfortable but just make sure you get the right size. ds

I have some foot issues and need very comfortable shoes for walking. I find that these are very comfy when I first put them on, but by the end of the day my feet are aching and no longer comfortable. I haven't found this with other Hoka models, so not sure what is different with these. In any case, would not purchase again.

I adore this shoe. I have problems with my arches, a bunion, and wide feet. This shoe is exactly what I need for stability, width and cushion. My joints and body are very happy, *however* I am very displeased with the workmanship and quality of this shoe. I have owned these shoes for less than a year and already the plastic in the ankle cup is poking through the fabric, and other signs of heavy wear are apparent. I have never had a shoe just start to fall apart so quickly. Given the high cost of the shoe, this should not be happening. If you have a tough time finding a comfortable shoe, and are okay with having to rebuy this shoe often, then it might be a good choice for you, otherwise you may want to keep looking.

I tried two pairs of Hoka shoes - Gaviota 2 and Clifton 6. The Gaviotas weren't terrible, but they weren't life-changing for me, either. I tried them with their original insole and with one that has better arch support. I did like that the heel cup was deep enough for an orthotic to fit without raising my heel too much. I also liked the grey color and firmness in the footbed - plenty of support. However, there was one place that rubbed on the side of my left foot - a rough seam or something similar - and I worried that I would get a blister. The most disappointing thing, however, was the finish. The materials on the outside looked like plastic and the finishing on the inside was rough and uncomfortable. I did return this pair of shoes because they were not worth the price I paid.
