I have been wearing Brooks Glycerin shoes for three years after switching from the ASICS Nimbus, which I wore for seven years. I gave up the Nimbus when they went to a wider heal and larger toe box. I loved the Glycerin fit up until last year when they introduced the 16. I bought five pairs of 15s after the 16 was introduced. Like the Nimbus, the toe box and the heal on the 16s were too wide. The 17 is much better than the 16 in the heal fit, and the ride is a great combination of cushion without being squishy - even better than the 15. However, the toe box is still too wide - so wide that the shoe looks really goofy, like a pair of clown's shoes. In an effort to make the shoe lighter, the material is quite thin and is definitely not for running on a trail or in wet weather or cold wind. I guess when I get through my stash of Glycerin 15s, I will be looking for another shoe.

The Glycerin 17s are continued devolution of a what was once an outstanding shoe. The shoe no longer has much stability and has a very spongy feel. What made me initially change from the ASICS Gel Nimbus to the Brooks Glycerin was the more stable feel on a cushioned by not spongy ride, and with a very attractive design and a good selection of color combinations. The very thin porous cheap material on the body of the 17s makes the shoe unsuitable for running in damp weather. The "speckles" on the top of the shoe are silly. The shoes have been returned.
I'd also recommend:
I will probably try the ASICS Gel Nimbus again when the new model comes out in the spring.

These shoes are the Brooks Glycerin 17 in a size 10 1/2 D. The fit is true to size as I normally wear a 10 1/2 D. As for comfort, it took walking about a block for them to feel broken in. The exterior design is stylish and on trend. The lightweight exterior material wears well in addition to being comfortable. I walk over 10,000 steps, 5 days a week and the Brooks Glycerin 17 are now my favorite walking shoes!

There is no one shoe that fits everyone, thus a shoe review has limited value. That said, I love these! I went through about 6 pairs of other shoes before landing on these, and these are perfect: great cushioning, neutral support, perfect fit. This is my second pair.

As per Zappos recommendation I ordered my father a half size larger in this shoe. They were correct! So def do that! He’s a 10.5 so in brooks we got an 11. They fit really well. He said this style is even more comfortable than his two pairs of Brooks Levitate sneakers.

I bought these shoes for my son. When I asked them if he liked them he said, "I can't even tell they are there." From him, a person who doesn't like to wear shoes, that is the highest review he could give.

I've run in Nike's most of my life, but they started having too little forefoot room. Brooks Ghost has been really good but wanted more cushion and a little more arch support and these provided just that! However the shoe is a little less roomy in the forefoot, but overall I think it's going to be a good choice.

The Brooks Glycerin 17's are a great shoe but I'm returning them! I like just about everything about them, except they are not going to work for me for the fall into the winter. The shoes provide a maximum amount of cushioning and I find the arch support to be middle of the range. I also found them to fit true-to-size, despite the many reviews suggesting ordering a half-size up. I tried both sizes and found the half-size up to be too roomy for a secure running fit. Now for the reason I'm returning them - they are simply too ventilated to provide warmth this fall as the temperatures drop. You can see it in the photos of the shoes if you magnify them, but the outside layer of the shoes above the toes is nothing but a very thin piece of meshy fabric with largish holes. Under that, there is a very thin layer of white fabric that breathes extremely well. This is all fine if you are running in warmer weather or just happen to like more air across your feet no matter the outside temperature. I absolutely would use these year-round indoors on a treadmill or as 2.5/3-season shoes, but since I plan to use my next pair of shoes well into the winter, these are going back.

I have bought a lot of $150 running shoes that haven't been worth the money. These shoes are, and I'll be ordering a second pair. I'm close to 70 and can't run anymore, but I walk like crazy. I have a fused ankle with 7 screws and these have to be the most comfortable Brooks I've owned. I've got a special place in my heart for Brooks, I did 5 Ironmans back in the 80's, ran every one in Brooks.

REALLY COMFORTABLE AS USUAL. HAVE USED GLYCERINS MANY TIMES. TRIED OTHERS ALWAYS RETURNED. NOW OLD JUST WALK AND STILL LIKE GLYCERINS BEST. PROVIDE EXCELLENT CUSHIONING FOR ARTHRITIC JOINTS BUT WITH SUPPORT FOR MY NATURAL STEPS.

These replaced my Glycerin 14's. I was a little skeptical of these shoes. They didn't look like they would offer much support, no additional strapping or webbing sewn around the shoe. The 'sock-like' exterior is much more durable than it appears and they feel great!
I use an orthopedic insole due to injury, and the cushioning feels as good as my 14's did new.

I just got these shoes and have worn them one full day. They are SUPER comfortable and lightweight. My nurse friend recommended them because she and I both have plantar fasciitis. They are VERY comfortable and cushiony. The tops breathe exceptionally well.

Excellent shoe for those looking for cushioning. im a larger guy getting over a back injury. i switched to these to minimize the shock load to my lumbar spine. i usually like a stiffer shoe but these are like running on clouds.

I absolutely love the Brooks Glycerin 17. They are great for running and the gym. The sole is perfect for not slipping during aerobic and step class. They seem a bit shorter than my older Glycerins, but my inserts still fit fine. The new style is more like a sock, and they formed to my feet quickly. As always the quality of Brooks is definitely there!

The Glycerin 17 is slightly wider than the G 16. I wear a "B" width and unfortunately the 17's seem to be slightly wider resulting in heel slipping...wish they made a narrow width.

I was looking for cushion support but also a good base. These seem to fit the bill.

Love these shoes! So comfortable. I have used them for running and walking and my feet feel great. I am a long time ASICS wearer, but got these Brooks after having my gait analyzed. I am sold! They are expensive, but worth it. Have worked great for High Intensity Training as well.

After wearing Brooks Ghost for years, these Glycerins are a really nice upgrade. Similar perfect neutral shoe, but with more cushioning. The only issue was the toe box felt smaller. Ended up returning 10.5s for 11s.

This is a great road running shoe. Lightweight with good cushioning and support. I am 6'2" and 195 lbs with beat up patellas and have been running in Hookas for the last two years. None of the new Hookas I tried worked for me so I went back to Brooks. I originally ordered the medium and it was a bit too narrow it the midfoot so I switched to the wide and the fit is perfect.

Really comfortable shoe. Did a lot of traveling and with all the airport walking my feet never ached- 4 airports and 4 flights totaled up around 30 hours in them. Looking forward to actually getting to run in them over the next few weeks.

Im 6,2, 340lb and these are the best shoes I have ever put on my feet. I've always like Brooks as they provide great support and balance for a big guy like me, but these are amazing.

Fit as expected. I ordered my normal size for Brooks and was not disappointed. The tongue is attached and while that bothered me at first, I’ve gotten used to it.

happy that these fit as well as previous glycerin versions over the years. Color and design looked a lot better in person than online image.
