Customer Reviews Merrell Encore Ice Slide Q2

Merrell's have been my primary shoe for about twenty years. I read all of the reviews prior to buying and have wanted to give a considered review. These shoes are lower in quality, overall, to all of my past Merrells, noticeable in the materials, but mostly noticeable in the workmanship. Overall, they are not soft and there are edges that almost cut into my skin. The cheap faux Sherpa is really no other word for it- embarrassing. I cannot believe it isn't the same company. However, they are still better than the even worse quality of shoes that are under $80. At $110, I feel they are overpriced. As a consumer, I have not yet found a replacement for them, so am keeping them because the support is still the best I have found, and it appears they will not wear out or fall apart on me, because the bottom is good quality and the upper I believe is real leather. In between however, very disappointing. I will stay with them until I can find a company that makes shoes like they did in the last fifty years prior to now, or like the old Merrell's. The owners of the company must have a benefit that covers the embarrassment they should feel about their product. I will not wear them in public, only to walk the dog and as an inside shoe in the house for their support. The other version with the faux Sherpa inside (which I have owned two pairs of in the past) would have been a better choice than these. I am in agreement with most all of the other posters. It is also disappointing they do not make the wide version anymore.

These were once among the most comfortable shoes and now are a shadow of their former style...imitation lining, bad fit and poor styling.
