Extremely light jacket. Used in downpours and still holds up.

My first impression of this jacket is really good. The jacket fits great, and beads water like a champion. The side vents are crazy big and adjustable. One last thing is the jacket is super light weight and compactable.

Just finished traveling in the southwest. Used this shell for sunrise mountain hikes, evening desert walks and a cold Grand Canyon descent. Also used it for humid Michigan spring hiking. This shell performed extremely well under all these different conditions. The side vents make this extremely versatile outerwear (30-70 degrees on same hike, all comfortably). My only wish is that it would self-stuff. I have not owned this long enough to comment on its durability, so far it's great.

Great jacket but an odd fit on me. Arms pretty baggy yet a bit more snug and short on the waist. I usually wear an XL but decided on the L instead due too fit. Large fits good but feels a bit tight and short on the lower end. Been using it Mountain biking and is perfect with a jersey underneath in the rain. Awesome pit zips. Main zipper is a bit tricky due to the double zip. All in all I would buy again

The FORAY jacket is a sure favourite for the MIL/LE community, with it's main feature being armpit vents that unzip all the way down to the hem. This allows for the entire front of the jacket to be tightly rolled up, giving full access to your plate carrier while still providing complete protection from the elements. I have also found with other jackets that the zipper is never reinforced in order to save weight, which results in a flimsy zipper that is not easily operated with one hand. (Try unzipping your pit vents with both hands, it's awkward to say the least) Not the case with the Foray, as it has enough rigidity in the zipper to be able to operate smoothly with one hand. I have used this for multiple outings in snow, sleet and rain, and have remained dry the entire time. It has stood up against rock climbing, bush-wacking, hiking, the shooting range, and everything in between. All in all, this jacket is quite literally the most versatile jacket I have owned, and will no doubt be in my wardrobe for a long time to come. Highly recommend!

No drawbacks on this purchase. I was quite unsure what shell I needed during the winter to protect the down insulator I have. Good recommendation from the OR videos, and this jacket has served well to protect against the snowfall during the winter as well as the rain during the spring. I use it for sledding, casual wear, and all travel.

This is the first time I have purchased Outdoor Research products. I'm a photographer and travel worldwide. In my travels I have come across a lot of other photographers who were wearing outfits from Outdoor Research. I have ordered several different items from this company and I must tell you that I'm really impressed with the quality and fit of the garments. This is exceptional value compared to other gear I have from another very famous high end company. You will not break the bank. The jacket fits me exceptionally well and have no complaints so far.

I am a tall woman and the women's options for coats rarely fits. That's why I always select a men model and it's always been a good fit for me. My old OR coat wore off after 20 years and so I had to look for another one. Selected this model as it was the closest I could find to what I had. I was surprised at the light weight of it! The older versions were much bulkier while this one easy compresses into a small bundle, easy to pack and carry. No regrets, ever, with my OR gear!

Outstanding Hardshell for the money. - Both water and wind proof with laminated seams. - Ergonomic placement of zippers for easy venting and use of pockets. - Good selection of factory colours. (Great for off duty and duty use!)

I lost my OR GorTex jacket overboard into the surf and three days later while walking along the same beach I noted a little blue patch sticking up out of the sand at the high tide mark. My coat! I extracted it and washed it out in the ocean. It had a nice polish to it; the fabric was worn and thinner. It looked sad and after washing in fresh water realized all the DWR was out. Other than throw the jacket out, I used Nikwax Tech Wash followed by a double dose of the Softshell Proof in solution. It worked; light rain beads off and the jacket breaths nicely. It still feels a bit odd and a little bit lighter from being polished by the sand, but I have my OR jacket back! (I bought another one anyway.) Good product.

You can't go wrong with the Foray Jacket, everything from the fabric to the seam tapes, is done so well. This jacket is constructed with a purpose and worth the $$$. I definitely won't be needing another rain jacket anytime soon!

Bought to wear over a non-waterproof mid layer for arctic and sub-arctic conditions. Have had no issues with it what so ever, 14 km's of arctic mobility and didn't have any moisture build up issues. Plan on using it underneath uniform during rainy season,

My second one over the years, this Jacket is super duper functional. Side zippers allow for venting, while making pants piockets easily accessible. Just enough roominess for layering without being too baggy, etc. very well thought out jacket

This jacket is awesome. The sizing for me was perfect, as it allowed me to wear my down jacket underneath and effectively layer in cold temperatures. It is completely weather proof, blocking wind and cold well and protecting me from snow and blowing wind on a mountaintop snowshoe. The only issue I have is that the main zipper sometimes sticks at the bottom. It has not affected the use of it yet, but there is a risk of breaking a zipper off. The only other issue was that the breast pocket is mesh inside , not goretex, so placing something like a phone in that pocket subjects it to condensation and moisture from heat building up underneath.

It's a little baggy which is good if you plan on wearing a puffy jacket under it. I haven't been in a downpour with it on yet but the rainy days here and there it's been good getting from car to indoors, etc. No wetting out so far. I've run into some branches and such with it while out and about and it holds up to nature's scratchy fingers. The zippers for breathability are great. I love the colors, not a functional comment but still. Velcro wrist cuffs and plenty of room in the hood for a helmet along with adjustability to keep the hood fixed snug so rain doesn't get in nor will it blow off. Pretty good weight considering the features it has.

Love the new style of the jacket! It's a great jacket fits well and I don't over heat in it. Living in hot weather the side pit zips are the best.

I used it for country skying as well as snowboarding. I also wear it on a daily basis with different layers underneath according to weather conditions.
