This jacket is a perfect fit and very well made. Once I took it out of the package I noticed how well built it felt. Super warm and comfortable jacket, highly recommend.

I bought this jacket in November to replace my Mountain Hardware 550 down jacket. I was nervous buying it as it was considerably thinner than my MH. I debated between the Thorium and a Rab. After the temperatures we have had in Northern BC the last 4 weeks, I was ready to post a review. This jacket is very warm! I wear it with a teeshirt up to -20C and provided I am doing light activity, I am quite warm in it. I hike with my camera. As the temperatures really dropped these last 4 weeks, I was still skeptical. I went out at -35C with a long sleeve Merino 200 and at -48C with an Under Armour Cold gear long sleeve. I am very impressed as I never was able to wear my MH in those temperatures without having a fleece under it. By far the warmest jacket I've owned! I like the construction, how small it packs down (half of my previous MH), and the exterior fabric is more of a finished shell fabric than the Cerium, making it a great stand alone! When the temperatures are down, the good is a superb asset and really deals the wind from coming in and cooling you down. Great job Arc'teryx, this is a keeper!

Excellent warmth and fit. It's very light and feels very durable. I'm 5'8, 170lb, and a Medium was just perfect (not too tight for layering, not too loose).

I am blown away with how warm this jacket is, especially with how light it is. I live in Alberta Canada and this is my jacket all the way to -20 with nothing but a T-shirt underneath. If I throw a sweater underneath I'm sweating. I also love how durable the shell is so I'm comfortable wearing it as a just a jacket or as a mid-layer, whereas the Cerium is not as durable so is just a mid layer. The warmth, durability and versatility makes this a hard 10/10 for me!

I bought this jacket December of 2014 as a Christmas gift for myself. I've since used it all over the country in a variety of weather. For the weight, it's pretty warm, when layered, it's very warm! I live in a place that gets cold winters from the Great Lakes, and this jacket works perfectly for me. When it's too cold for just this, I layer under and over, and I'm good to go. I beat this jacket up A Lot, and to only have very, very minor rips, is impressive. Mostly they're ember burns, but the occasional sharp object snag. When hiking or foraging, I'll often snag branches, thorns, nails, pretty much anything with an edge or point, and I'll cringe thinking I just ripped my jacket. Always impressed, usually just a snag mark or nothing at all. I won't lie and say after 7 years that it's still pretty.. I have 9 patches and dirt stains.. classic! But after 7 Hard years of climbing. Rummaging. Foraging. Snowboarding. Working on my vehicle/house, I have far less patches than I should. That's dope! I I love how light and packable this is. I'll often use this as my pillow on flights to a cold-er-ish destination and also have my puffy ready to go when I get off. I don't use the stuff sack that was supplied, I usually stuff this into the hood or sleeve to pack it. But the stuff sack does keep it smaller. I do occasionally get the random down plume coming out, that's natural with anything down.. I'll just pull it back in from the inside reducing the risk of more following it's way out the same spot. I also like the strategically placed synthetic for this wetter days/nights as well as for fishing in the cold I chose this one over the atom, cerium, and other names for a few reasons. Warmer than the cerium LT, looks better than the LT and the cerium SV, you don't match every person at every gear store, and it fits well under my shell. Overall, outstanding puffy! Clean. Warm. Durable. Longevity. And good quality. The only thing I don't like, is the hood. I'm not a fan of fitted hoods, but I understand and do sometimes appreciate the fit for under a climbing helmet. I purchased a medium, fits well.. standard athletic build with a slight beer gut.. don't judge me

Great and beautiful jacket. Keeps me warm and looking professional. Used it on rainy cold days with a shell jacket for regular walks in the forest. Also for commutes to work. Love the fit. Not too tight and night t too loose. Also does not look overly puffed up for a down jacket

I bought this jacket a few weeks ago. It is so light that when I picked up the bag it was shipped in, I thought they sent the wrong item lol. It is just very light. But, it kept me warm in about 15 to 20 weather and I had just a T-shirt on. The build quality is very very good. I wouldn't say it's excellent, but for the price point it's very very good. In that I mean it could probably get torn very easily as the exterior is pretty thin. But it seems this is more of a thicker material than some of their other insulated jackets. Overall I love the look and its ability to keep me warm. As far as size, I would say it's a tiny bit small. I bought a large and it was a little bit tight on me in the chest. But not too bad.

This is the best jacket I've ever purchased. Its warm without being too bulky. The fit is great. For reference I am 5'11" and 150lbs and a medium fits great. If something ever happens to this jacket I'll be coming right back here to purchase a replacement

The Thorium AR is my go-to winter jacket. Living in Montreal, Quebec, we have temperatures that go down to -20 or even -30 degrees celsius. First of all, this jacket is warm. Down to -10 degrees I can wear this with just a t-shirt underneath and I won't get very cold. When you layer it with a fleece or long sleeve underneath, it's even better. One of my favourite parts about this jacket, other than the warmth and overall great fit, is that the outer nylon layer is abrasion resistant. While this is a down jacket and you should always be careful to avoid snagging it on things, I don't worry about this jacket ripping when I'm out and about in the city which gives me peace of mind. If you're deciding between the Thorium AR or Cerium LT - choose the Cerium if you need something supremely packable and light. On the other hand, choose the Thorium if you need an everyday jacket that is supremely warm throughout all of winter.

"Packs Down" as in you can stuff it into its little stuff stack, and "Packs Down" as it's full of warm, lofty down. Great for when the temperatures get below freezing, and the quality DWR coating repels snow and drizzle without wetting out the insulation. Fabric is durable and soft. Nothing bad to say about this amazing jacket.

This jacket is light, warm and comfortable with a flattering fit. It kept me warm all last winter doing everything from commuting to work to skiing to campfires. The stuff sack also makes the jacket a great pillow on road trips!

I've been eyeing the Thorium AR for probably a year and finally decided to replace an aging jacket for this season with it. Love the style of the 24k black. Fits perfectly - loose enough for a light layer underneath if it's really cold out. Snug enough that I can put a shell over it if the weather is really bad.

I wear this jacket from Fall to Spring (I add a shell over it during the winter) and LOVE it. It is warm and allows for movement. I recommend it to anyone that will spend any time outside in the cold!

Very warm and versatile jacket for different purposes. I personally think it's a really good looking jacket for everyday use and I've been using this almost everyday for the past month as it's getting colder every day. But I'm sure it's also great for the extreme weathers such as the incoming winter here in Scandinavia and I'm sure it will do the job also in -30 degrees in a couple of months time. Would definitely recommend this jacket to everybody. 10/10.

Bought this for multi-day unsupported ultrarunning pushes in the backcountry here in Colorado. I was looking for a layer that was solid and durable and was okay with something not ultralight - something I could just lay on the ground with and sleep in the middle of the night around treeline, but didn't take up a lot of room in my running vest. This jacket was perfect for that. Very warm, the outside layer is strong and held up against sleeping on the ground and pine needles. Inside is soft and comfortable against my skin. Also used as midlayer climbing 14ers in hight-wind winter-ish conditions. Exceeded my expectations.

I live downtown in a Canadian city where winter temperatures usually hover around -10 to -20. This jacket will be perfect for walking outside and running errands. I don't have a car so I want something that's light to walk around in but also warm and insulating at the same time. Excited to put this to good use this winter! The jacket is just as advertised, although I'll say it's more fitted and the collar is higher than I had expected. Really happy with this purchase.

I bought this jacket as I'm an outdoor woman. But hates being cold. This is wonderful for our unsettled weather and it packs quite small to be shoved in a bag when not in use

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife. She loves the fit of the jacket and that it has some tailoring to it and not just a boxy shape. The length of the jacket and sleeves are pretty long with works great for her as she is pretty tall with long arms. Nice to have a jacket that is long enough in the back and doesn't expose your wrists. The hood fits well also. The jacket is very warm . She runs a little cold and says with this on, she is always warm, even in the coldest temps. When it was -25F (not wind chill, actual temp), she was plenty warm in this jacket. The zipper is a little finicky but just pay attention when zipping and it's OK. Only problem we had was sizing as the first one was a little too small even though the sizing chart said it was OK and her size was almost exactly as described on the models in the pictures. Not a problem as customer service took care of us and got us one in the right size. Thanks!! She would definitely recommend this jacket for anyone looking for a warm, comfortable, nice looking winter jacket.
