Very happy to see some bright colors since that is a safety issue when in the alpine. Would love to see Beta AR or Beta AR Stormhood in all over Amaranthus!

I've had two of these jackets (one I bought in 2017, one that got replaced under warranty in 2019). Both of them started wetting out frequently despite following the specific care instructions for washing/drying the jacket and spraying with DWR spray. They also started coming apart near the shoulder area (2 layers of the jacket separating). Once they wet out, they take forever to dry! I was told my jacket can't be replaced under warranty a second time, which is fair, but I'd expect better performance from such an expensive jacket, especially when I don't use it for super intense activities. I use it for light cycle commuting in the city as well as day hikes in the mountains when I'm on vacation. It's frustrating that these jackets (that cost a significant amount) require such frequent high maintenance care to continue working well (or unfortunately not so well, as has been my experience). I've spoken with people who have other brands of gore-Tex outer layers who say their gear maintains the waterproofing with much less care and washing than I've put into my beta AR. Especially after the first one having similar issues, I washed and sprayed my second one religiously, likely every 10-15 uses. And I rarely use it for any heavy activities- it's never gotten properly dirty or sweaty because I wash it so often. I hope arc'teryx can use this feedback to improve its gear so issues like this no longer happen.

I'm a huge arcteryx fan and have owned several items. Unfortunately after three months of not wearing this jacket to much the hood adjustment broke.

I was real Arcterix fen for many years and I have bought several products Venta AR (great jacket, used for more than 10 years), Alpha SL, t-shirts, caps, accessories and more. This is my second Beta AR jacket for the last 7 years and probably the last, because the quality literally decay. The first one was too large for me /size L/ and I sold it after 2 years, still looking like brand new. The second one is the right size (M), it also looked very quality made. I have used it several years for skiing and hiking, relatively rarely (one or two times in a month, in the late autumn and the winter). Great fit. I love it and I have used and kept it very carefully, washing it not more often than once a year, according the instruction. It looked like brand new till the last week, when I washed it as usual machine wash, the jacket only, into a big laundry bag, closed zippers, delicate cycle, 30 degree and using Grangers for Gore membranes. But, afterwards the entire adhesive tape at the bottom of the jacked have been fully unglued and torn. Really disappointed with the durability of an expensive jacket, manufactured by Arcterix.

Purchased the green because the grandma lipstick pink and the fire engine red were vomit worthy. Turns out the green is more of a decomposing pine-bow color suited more for a lumberjack than a ladies coat. Let's get with it Arcteryx and get some colors that make a girl look good while getting it done in the outdoors! Hopefully I can sell mine to a forester, then wait for something better to come along.

This is a great jacket but you have to wash it and clean it every 2 weeks to really be waterproof and for the Gor-Tex to actually work. The neck, when tightened down all the way is still way too big and sticks out from under the hood and lets a lot of rain and cold air in. Overall a good looking jacket but requires a lot of care and maintenance.

Great design and functions for this jacket, but some very problems with it
2nd Beta AR jacket (replacement) with the exact same problems as my first.
the seal for the seams peels
the goretex has debonded from the shell material
waterproofing on the zips seem to be cracking (but not leaking yet)

Having purchased a Beta AR 15 years ago which I have worn and loved, I only wanted a new one when it finally fell apart. However, having worn it yesterday for the first time I am totally disapointed. The sleeves are too baggy and got caught in my rucksack. The pockets are too low to put anything in whilst wearing a rucksack with a waist strap-so you have to unbuckle. The pulls on the zip are almost impossible to open when wearing thick gloves with numb fingers inside. I can't believe all the good features on my 15 year old model have been lost. The only good feature is the fabric which kept me totally warm with a wind chill well below freezing.
I am totally regretting my choice of staying with Arcteryx.

I bought this jacket. The most expensive item. Went to Hawaii to backpack and knew there was a chance for rain. Even with the hood on I was wet underneath combined with material did not make for a great hike. Disappointed as this was the first time I used it and for what I paid I expected to be dry. The insid was moist and ended up taking it off for rest of trip since he wasn't providing protection anyway.

I had my original Beta AR for six years, and loved how it was lightweight, bomb-proof, and perfect for hiking, climbing, and skiing throughout the four seasons - but most importantly (and unlike most other high-end athletic gear) it had a feminine shape that matched my curved shape! When the seam delaminated 2 years ago I foolishly sent it back, and while Arc'teryx was nice enough to send a replacement, the new fit is terrible for shorter, curvy women. As many others have mentioned, the straight cut is tight in the chest and hips but too baggy in the shoulders and arms, and the revised front packets are very awkward and difficult to close with gloved hands. I wish I could continue to recommend the Beta AR, but until Arc'teryx decides to return to its distinctive, well-fitting jacket, I'm still looking for a replacement...

I can't say enough about how disappointed I am with the fit of this shell. I am a petite size 8 with a larger bust and none of the sizes on offer come close to fitting me. You really need to make just one petite fitting jacket option for those of us who aren't your tall, thin body type. The medium had not enough room for layering, yet was still much too long in the arms and much too loose in the shoulders with lots of bulk in the arms. The large felt like I was a child trying on my mother's clothing: I had a good five inches of fabric hanging past my fingertips on the sleeves and the body came down to my crotch impeding my range of movement when walking. I could fit both of my arms in one sleeve. It was rediculous. I want to throw my money at you for an amazing shell, but you really need to move towards inclusive fit models. Not impressed.

Hello, I am pretty petite and was super excited to see this offered in XXS as the XS is still fairly roomy on me if I only use it as a shell without any midlayers. However, I can't find the XXS anywhere even though it is listed as an option. It is always grayed out? :( Please start making more in XXS

Hi,
Bought this jacket less the 2 month ago - have maybe used it for 15 hours before it started to let the rain come through. I had expected this jacket to keep the rain outside much longer before I had to wash it and use DWR on it.
Had other brands for 1/3 of the price of this one which kept the rain outside much longer before I had to reimpregnate it again. Had planned to use this jacket for a 4 month long walk across norway.........but that I can just forget, since it will not keep me dry more then 4-5 days....and I will not have any washingmachines available in the mountains.

These used to be made in Canada, but are now made in China. I suspect the quality of the product may have suffered. Certainly the environmental impact of the manufacturing went up.

I received the jacket a month ago, and I have used it 3 times when I discovered that there was a hole in the jacket. The quality is not at all up to anything I have ever experienced before. I even have a bad, cheap, used rain jacket, which after several years of use has no holes, or anything like that. And their customer service is even worse than their quality. I would never advise anyone to buy this jacket, or in general anything from this brand, as the customer service is without a doubt the worst I have ever experienced.

The rain jacket was already leaking after a few weeks. Maybe it was a production error. The negative review is not because of that, but because I didn't get any help from customer service. My emails were always answered, but they didn't seem to understand my concerns. For expensive products, I also expect good customer service with suggested solutions that will help me. that was not the case.

Brought as a thanks giving gift for my Mom, Just check with her recently and find a part of the out layer and Gore-tex membrane is not good, She said she just used once and it did not touched anything like oil. contacted with Custom Service and they copy pasted a reply teaching me how to wash.

I bought a beta AR jacket a while back, and I worn them for hiking and skiing only a few times. But the material is ripped off! I never expected the material is so flimsy. I then contacted the after sale service and all they can offer is to send me a patch like a bandage to put on the jacket. I don't think the quality justifies the high price tag. I was even more disappointed by the services.
