Heaviest of the five New Balance shoes I have., Looser at the heel despite how tightly tied (will wear socks faster) and narrow at front more quickly than others, particularly my favorite Fresh Foam Arishi V1 Athletic.

I was looking for a hiking/walking shoe that would be comfortable for an upcoming trip, but unfortunately these did not fit the bill. My heel would slip as I walked and the toe box didn't have much give because of the mesh design. Also, the top of the shoe (by the laces) already looked frayed, so I was concerned with the wear and tear.

Ordered 2 different sizes but couldn't get either one to fit right. The heal badly slipped and the smaller of the two sizes dug into my ankle as well. Sent both sets back. I will have to go to a store during Covid, urgh!

Just didn't fit my foot right and both pairs, black fresh foam and brownish gray fresh foam just hard feeling doesn't feel form fitting and comfy just too hard material that made these 2 pair up. I will order something different from NB

Unfortunately this shoe isn't really for a wide foot. The last is narrow. I will be using it for my inside workout. It just doesn't work for a long walk. Back to the drawing board.

I had planned to use these waterproof shoes to walk in the winter here in Central NYS. I ordered a half size up and wide to accommodate a bunion and heavier socks. These shoes are very well made, but they were enormous. Although my feet didn't slip in them, I felt like I was tripping over my own feet. Sadly I had to return them. I don't believe a half size down would be large enough to wear heavier socks comfortably and a regular width would be too narrow.

I generally wear a 6.5 EE and have purchased a lot of shoes in the past from New Balance. On this shoe, it felt as if they sewed a 6.5 regular (or narrow) onto a EE sole. Very uncomfortable in the ankle, both in the back (achilles area) and on the side (inside of ankle). I do not have huge feet but prefer wide to accommodate my custom insoles. These were very stiff and I did not think they would ever soften up. The color is not bad. Will be returning

I am looking for a waterproof sneaker basically. I have bought these twice, returned once, trying to make them work but I have to admit I do not like them. They hurt, are hot and heavy. They are supportive/stiff for the hiking that I needed but I really do not like them.

This is my second attempt to try a different NB shoe in the past couple months and I will be returning it just like I did the last one I ordered. I wear a very wide shoe and routinely wear New Balance shoes because they come in an extra wide. I've been wearing the 1540 for several years and they're great, perfect, fabulous! This shoe in an x-wide is not x-wide. The toe box is very, very narrow and the shoe is actually shorter than my 1540's. Why isn't a size a size? The shoe is extremely hard and uncomfortable. I guess I just hope NB keeps making the 1540 so I'll have a shoe to wear! Very frustrating.

I do not use and had to return. It was not wide enough for my foot.
