I had some concerns from other reviews regarding the snap button undoing itself. However, they fit the bill for medium duty work shorts for around the house. Gusseted front hip pockets for tape measures, etc., a hammer loop, and rear pockets without flaps that make it easy to slip tool in and out when on a ladder, and a double belt loop at rear center to hold it all up. They are very comfortable.
However, these have a fatal flaw in button design. The rear part of the snap just fell out of the fabric, leaving a hole. And there appears to be no way to physical repair them, because no thread attachment is provided. Rather then a substantial rivet back like a fender washer, it is just sort of pressed into the fabric with a tiny amount of surface area. Very weak!
If they redesigned these with the simple large metal button pusing through a front slit, I'd buy them again.

Problem is waist shorts snap. It's will not stay fastened even with a belt. The snap is a BB type that is pushed through a metal button hole. Hiking or other outdoor activity the snap comes undone and the zipper will not hold. Great material well made but the snap is very weak. Adding gear to your waist / belt snap comes undone now! Other Columbia shorts have metal buttons that secure through a strong fabric eye hole / the best.
