These shoes were recommended by my doctor for foot motion control. They certainly do that, but I find them stiff, very hard and uncomfortable. Styling could be a whole lo better too. I got what my doctor wanted, but probably will not wear them unless I really need to.

The shoe is cut to low in the back heel area and continued to slip even with a thicker sock.

Inadequate cushioning, especially at forefoot. I have history of plantar fasciitis, so am very particular.

I have worn the Ariel for years and loved them. Either my feet have changed or the shoe has. It is OK, but not fabulous as it seems to rub my feet in the wrong places. I am going to have to search for an alternative shoe. By the way, it is pretty ugly.

I bought these specifically for running, unfortunately they didn’t work for me. The felt too stiff, bulky and heavy. I think I’ll stick with the Adrenaline GTS line.

The description on this shoe said "for the overpronator". Well, this one raises the inside of my foot to the point that I'm rolling to the outside. If you are severely, severely overpronating, then this is the shoe for you. Not a bad looking shoe, actually kinda ugly. I don't mind ugly if the shoe works for me.Will be returning. Oh, it runs a one size larger than my other Brooks and my New Balance.
I'd also recommend:

Not helpful overall. I’ve been having a hard time finding a shoe that helps with my plantar fasciitis. I’m overweight which does not help either, and I overpronate. So to find a show that helps in all areas has proven to be challenging. I have tried both the Brooks Ariel and Addiction. Both were overly stuffy. Lots of cushion but much to the detriment of the overall comfort of the shoe. I’m on my feet a large portion of the time on a daily basis. I need support and cushion for my heel to minimize the impact. I purchased some Dr Scholls inserts that helped but they wore out fast. I even tried those in the Ariels. I feel like maybe the Brooks brand isn’t for me so I will go back to my New Balance or maybe even try Asics or Allegria.

I have a lot of trouble finding comfortable, supportive shoes with ample room in the toe box. I was hopeful when I ordered these shoes. However, although there was ample room in the toe box, there was little support to keep my feet from sliding around inside the shoe. The front of my foot is very broad, so the mesh in the front of the shoe was great for the width of the shoe. However, it resulted in a shoe with little support for my foot.
Regrettably, I will be returning these shoes.

Tried this shoe again at a 1/2 size smaller but still the upper heel was way too large---heels slipping out when I walked. Anything smaller and my toes would be crunched. Really wanted to love these but it was a no go. Exchanged for Ghost 12 and the fit is great. Keeping those instead.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks Ghost 12

Disappointed that the women's 11.5 was too short. I don't know why, but this has never happened before.

The fit and size were great, but the shoes had been carelessly manufactured. The body of the left shoe had not been evenly set on the sole. It was skewed slightly to the side. I had been looking for a good wide shoe to cure a sore spot on the side of my foot, caused by too-narrow shoes. Because the shoe was skewed slightly to the side, it put pressure on the sore spot I was hoping to cure. It also put my left knee out of alignment, and that was a knee I was undergoing physical therapy for.It may be that only that one pair was badly manufactured, but I don't know if I'll try again.

The new styling does not work for me. The back is lower and slips up and down. I have to return and look for a new style that works like the older models.

So disappointed! The Ariel 14 was my favorite shoe ever. But the Ariel 16 was hard, stiff, and narrow, and now this one--ugh. Slightly more comfortable than the 16 but the arch falls in a weird (wrong) place and the color is absolutely hideous. I'm not sure I've ever seen an uglier running shoe. I wish Brooks would go back to the being the dependable quality footwear it once was.

I have terrible overpronation which causes a ton of joint pain in my ankles, knees, all the way up to my hips. I'm also hyper mobile so my hips dislocate often and need to be reset. These shoes are literally THE BEST shoes I have EVER used!!!! They are so comfortable and have helped so much with my overall pain level! It is truly heartbreaking that they thought they could make it better. They look good, feel amazing, very durable, and fantastic for overpronation. Nothing the company has offered has been comparable. I have found comfortable options, but as far as true long term pain relief, the best thing on the market has sadly been discontinued.

This is an awesome shoe if you have foot problems. It is very sturdy and doesn't allow your foot to move in the incorrect way. It really takes the pressure off your metatarsal.

Very comfortable, soft but supportive shoe. LOVE that the cushion around the ankle does not have those little tips. Wish there were more colors.

This is the fifth pair of Ariel shoe I bought. I have flat feet and they provide the best support. In addition, I have a big bunion and need extra wide. Hardly any brand offers wide shoes anymore.
Best shoe ever.

EST doe for me! This shoe works well with my custom orthotics; but I am having trouble finding my size which is 9.5 D. I like to have 3 pair; one for house (clean), one for shopping and one for work outdoors. I cannot go barefoot so important to have extras.

I love, love, love these sneakers. Brooks work the best for me. I am a walker and these sneakers provide the right amount of support, cushioning and overall comfort. Did I say that I love these sneakers?

My job requires me to stand 8 hours a day. My feet used to kill me. I finally found a pair of sneakers that feel good after trying at least 8 different pairs. I have bunions and neuropathy. I just ordered my second pair.

Brooks never disappoints. These shoes were comfortable immediately. No break-in time. Great support. Cool, stylish colors. I use them for fitness walking and kickboxing.

Comfortable beyond belief. The support it gives is the best I've found for my wide feet and bad knees.
