I like the look of the older style better from 2016/2017. I agree with other reviewers saying this is a more basic look than before. I'm debating keeping these because they are a weird style boot but the details of the older pair made them really cute. These just look.. idk I like my old pair but they need replacing. I can't decide. Long story short bring the older style back.

I was so disappointed with the change in style this year. The boot doesn't look as chic and refined as last year's styling. All the high quality detailing is gone. This year's boot has a stripped down look to it. Nothing special. Please bring back the old boot style. I returned them and will look at other options.

The shoes are cute but the space between the D-rings is too far apart and difficult to tighten enough to make them stable. The cord is waterproof but has a plastic-y consistency.

I purchased the camel brown this year (2018) because I love the black and the olive pairs I had purchased in years past. Sorel, please please bring the old style black!
There are just little changes, but enough that I will be returning the boots.
First, the interior tag that is sewn into the leather with the sizing info moved from deep within the side wall to the top of inside of the tung. This is upsetting because I often fold over the tall part of the boot so it ends up being more of an ankle boot, which I get so many compliments on. However, now with the tag placement on the inside of the tung, I can't wear the boots this way, as there is a big white square sewn right in the way.
The second is, the seems changed just slightly. I prefer the old seem style as I think the extra toe/arch seems made the boot look more feminine and also made my feet look smaller, which I like in a boot.
Third, I also prefer having the old style's reinforcement tabs sew at each lace eyelet. This was cute (more feminine and made the boot look smaller) and I also think lead to more ankle support.
The changes seem like ways to produce the boots cheaper and I'm not a fan, especially at the price point.
Please bring back the old style, they are beautiful, comfortable, functional Fall and Winter boots that I have gotten many miles out of! Love the camel color too!

I owned the Joan of Arctic Wedge first generation and loved them. When it came time to replace them I bought these second generation wedges. The quality has gone down hill significantly. The leather is much rougher, the laces are much stifferand harder to tie and the dye in the leather bleeds and turns my skin and socks black (even after many uses). Complete disappointment. I wish I had bought a backup of the first generation when I had the chance.

Literally new and insoles are not attached. They come out when I take the boots off. Very strange. I don't think that's how it should be. This is based on my experience.

I absolutely love this shoe. My original purchase was approximately two years ago - I bought this style in brown and black. However, I recently placed a new order for the same quantity and color but was extremely disappointed upon receiving the boots. The new design is more narrow and according to customer service, this seems to be a trending customer compliant. Unfortunately, if you have wide feet, this new design may not be comfortable and/or feasible for you.
I hope the Brand reconsiders its prior design as an option in 2021 or offers wide sizes moving forward.

I'm a spot-on 10, and the 10 fit perfectly. I've wanted Joan of Arctic wedges for quite awhile and finally pulled the trigger. They are beautiful boots and were comfortable overall, BUT, the seam across the vamp pressed right on the bone at the base of my little toe! I have average-width feet with a size narrower heel, but that seam would've caused some serious pain in the long run, so I had to return. Disappointed :(.

They are such great-looking boots but the structure around the heel in the back was so uncomfortable that I returned them. It felt like it was a rough edge around the back of the heel.

I am very disappointed in sorel’s consistency of quality between the same size and color of boots. I tried one pair of 9.5 black on that fit perfectly but had scuffs on them, another pair of 9.5 black with a funny indention in the leather that fit perfectly, but the 9.5 black with no flaws on the leather were really loose in the ankle and slipped every time I took a step. I decided to try a 9 since the last pair were so big, I thought they might fit. They did not. I finally settled on the 9.5 with the funny indention because after going back and forth with Zappos 5 or 6 times, I was over it. I will give it to Zappos though, they were understanding and easy to deal with throughout this whole debacle. Sorel really needs to get their consistency together because I LOVE the boots I settled for. I ended up purchasing 2 pair in the end. The 9.5 quarry fit perfectly every time and I love the way they feel and look but the quality was lacking. First pair had scuffs, second pair had scuffs and something funny going on with the tongue and it wouldn’t lay flat, but the third time was a charm so I kept those. And yes, I was being picky because I’m not spending $400+ on shoes that don’t look and feel good. I would recommend these but if they don’t fit at first, try another pair because they just might.

I was beyond excited when my hubby bought me these boots for Christmas. Now that I have received them, I am regretting that he spent as much as he did on these boots. For the price, I figured these boots would be unbelievably comfortable. That couldn't be any further from the truth. There is nothing comfortable about these boots. They have rubbed the skin raw on both of my little toes. The laces do not hold tight therefore my ankles are also being rubbed raw. I am continually having to tighten the laces. There is no inner padding whatsoever. Most definitely not a comfy or cozy boot by any means.

I was so looking forward to these. Sadly they went back. My little sister has last years version and OMG they are so much nicer. This years version is boring and kind of ugly. Last years looked so much nicer with the added brown at the sole, the rivets in the side and the along the laces. Please please please bring back the style of last year.

The design of the Joan of Arctic wedge 2 is so BASIC & BORING now that the design team eliminated the iconic cap toe seam. Seriously, at best I give it a -5 stars rating & would NOT RECOMMEND this poor design choice released by the designers. #epicfail
Bring the Joan of Arctic I back with that gorgeous cap toe seam!!! I will always choose the Joan of Arctic I lines over the design flaws of the Joan of Arctic 2. By removing the cap toe seam the shoe looks less elegant, wider and more masculine. #cheap #basicbitch
On sizing notes the shoe is NOT TRUE to size anymore either. I am a perfect 9.5 according to the older quality version Sorel produced, but now one shoe was larger and one shoe was smaller. Quality control seriously missing! I did notice the heels are wider in this model and there are inconsistencies between right and left shoe. What a wast of my shipping fees!

Boots have weird nicks in them. I can’t tell if they were worn, returned, and touched up but they didn’t look great. For being as expensive as these are i am really disappointed in the quality

I have several pairs of Sorel wedge boots in various styles. Sorel is my favorite boot brand. However, the quarry color shown is NOTHING like the pictures online. I've included the photo I took in person and the one from the website so that you can see what I'm talking about. In person, they are a completely a different color (much lighter) and texture (flat matte). Extremely disappointing.

If you want to spend a lot of money to look CHEAP, these boots are for you.
Shame on you Sorel for manufacturing this sloppy-at-best, so-called revised Joan of Arctic Wedge II for 240+usd.
The shoe lace system is terribly designed: sloppy. Had the design team WEAR these boots for one hour, they'd feel the loose flaw which can't be fixed no matter how many boot tying tutorials one can study online. How did these "revised" versions get the green light for manufacturing?
Sloppy problems: the boots cannot be laced tightly between the three pairs of eyelets, nor can be tightly tied at the top. The mechanics and aesthetic give way to loose laces, and a sagging of the boot body around the ankle. The boot does not maintain its height.
The laces are at an awkward length: too long and therefore have to be double tied, and too short to be 1x wrapped around the upper ankle.
After ONE season of wear, the laces started to rip.
The overall appearance is of a sloppy in a not cool, un-grundgy, un-sophisticated , non-sporty, schleppy look.
I read the reviews before purchasing, and saw similar complaints. I thought these grievances were for unique cases; apparently not.
The lace/eyelet system needs to be resolved.

These are really cute, but horribly painful to walk in. It felt like my toes were going to be chopped off every time I took a step. When I took them off I felt inside the boots to find out what was causing the pain and there is a seam over the toe area of the boot that's kind of sharp. My toes were red just from walking down the hall, so I know I wouldn't be able to get through any kind of breaking in period with these boots. Very disappointed because I love the look of the boot. Also, I have narrow feet and these are snug. I would have been able to handle that, but if you have anything but narrow feet, these would probably be too tight for you.
I'd also recommend:

Not only were these shoes at least a size smaller than an actual 10 (a lot of companies get Euro to US sizing wrong...38 is not a 10), but they were ugly. I thought they looked sharp in a sophisticated steam punk kinda way online, but in person they were clunky and reminded more of hot topic than something someone in her late 30's would consider cool. I don't recommend them, but maybe if you have smaller feet they look and fit better. Good luck!

The sizing is way off. I usually wear a size a 5-6, my foot width is average. I purchased a 6.5. It was still too small and very narrow. The boot was so tight that I would not be able to wear socks. I tried it on, walked around my home for a bit and immediately felt pain. Both boots pinched the tip of my toes while walking, and on the right boot, the fitting felt painfully off which made me question the manufacturing quality. I've never tried the first Joan of Arctic wedge, but saw thousands of raving reviews. Had high hopes for these but was sadly disappointed. Hoped to use these for my Winter trip in Germany, but I'm reconsidering because these are way too uncomfortable.
