I have the Stinson ATR4 and love that it has a roomy toebox. I was hoping the Speedgoat would have the same roomy toe box, but they don’t. My neuroma flairs up when I wear shoes that don’t allow my toes to splay, so I sent these back. I really like the style, though. They looked great on my foot; they just didn’t feel as good as they looked.

With my problem feet, (a pinky bunion, ball of foot pain and now (gasp) plantar fasciitis) I am always on the search for great hiking boots to keep me booting through the trails. I have worn the Hoka One One Tor Summit and love it for it's cushy ride and incredible grip. It gives me a firm plant despite it's high profile.
I ordered this version in an 8.5 originally and had to reorder in 9 for that needful toe room for descents.
The laces are stretchy (the jury is still out if I like that or not) and the ankle height is barely what I would call "mid", and it has the typical Hoka One One cushion. I may end up preferring these for moderate trail and street walking rather than hiking. But overall I like it. I will change out the insole for my own custom as I have really high arches.

I have been able to fit in other Hoka shoes with my usual size 6 and slightly wide foot but these did not fit at all. I could barely get my foot inside with the thin sock. They seem to be much more narrow than other styles.

I compared these systematically with Keen's Targhee Exp WP and Oboz' Sawtooth II Low B-Dry. The Hoka's are hands-down the most comfortable...I don't know how they'll hold up on the trail as I haven't hiked in them yet, but I'm looking forward to it. My only criticism is that they certainly don't have a graceful appearance and I feel like Lurch from the Munsters, but this really doesn't matter to me after about the first 1/2 mile :)

Returned within 2 hrs of receiving & trying on. Way too narrow about toe box. Not even close to fitting correctly like my other Hokas.

I fell in love (or my feet did) with Hokas about 7 years ago. I just tried the Speedgoats for hiking around the CO mountains. The regular WP ones were a bit too stiff and the inside fold was a hot spot for me, but these mid heights are AWESOME!! I can still wear my low cut Balega socks and it gives me that little bit of ankle support without having a hiking shoe on. Due to being an aging athlete, I haven't been able to trail "run," but just did today with these on and my knees are relatively happy. Thanks HOKA!!

Amazingly comfortable for 'hikers'. They have to be laced pretty tight for stability. I had no hot spots or blisters the first time I wore them. Very cushy!

I have owned many pairs of Hokas in the last five years, and loved all of them. Now I needed a waterproof shoe and ordered the Speedgoat Mid, sure that it would fit me as well. It did not, though. I ordered both 7 and 7.5 (I am usually a 7 in Hokas) and both were very narrow in the toe box, and hurt my pinky toe. I don't have very wide feet so I was surprised. I returned them and ordered the Tor Summit, which fits me much better.

I hike in the cascade mountains with my dogs 3-4x/week from spring to snow season and these are great for trail running and hiking in all types of weather. They have great traction on all types of terrain. Love them.

This is my favorite autumn-winter-spring shoe for everything I do.
I loved my first burgundy pair so much I ordered a second pair in blue.
My active, outdoorsy 62-year-old feet are in heaven anywhere I wear these shoes,
They stay DRY through the Oregon winter and they are comfortable too!
Thank you for making my most favorite winter trail and walking shoes
I think I just wrote a little poem for you ~ ;)

I love these shoes! They are warm and waterproof as stated. I live in northwest Florida and use them to walk the beach in the winter (where it's damp with temps in the 40s and 50s). They are super comfortable and needed no breaking in. I hope to eventually do some hiking in them. I run in Hokas (Cliftons) and use the same size in these trail running/hiking shoes.

These are amazing! I bought them for cold weather travel, I wanted waterproof and comfortable shoes I could walk in all day. These were absolutely perfect! They have great traction and are like walking on clouds - I highly recommend!

I purchased my pair of Speedgoat Mid WP directly from the Hoka One One website but wanted to share a review here. While these shoes are incredibly comfortable and save my joints and body from pain while walking, I definitely recommend sizing up. I wear a size 11 women in pretty much every shoe but these feel at least a half size too small. Fortunately if you order them from Zappos returns are super easy so it's not as much of a hassle! By the way, I have another pair of Hoka One One shoes in a men's style and I went up half a size in those as well. They fit perfectly. I know that if I had gotten my regular size (women's 11 is a men's 9.5) they'd be too small. So next time I buy a pair from this brand I'll probably yet again buy a half size up.

This was a very nice shoe...BUT it was built for a narrow foot...heel through toes. It created rub spots on both feet. The sole was cushy and comfortable. But because of the rub spots, I had to return it for a refund.

I had hoped that this mid hiking boot would work for me. I tried it out over 3 days with increasingly longer hikes and hills. I have a history of achilles tendinosis on the left. It seems to be resolved so I thought I could move up to a mid boot. The cuff around the ankle never bothered my achilles. No problem with my achilles. BUT the boot was I feel built for a narrow foot. I developed rub spots on both of my medial malleoli and at the left peroneal tendon as it wraps under the lateral malleoli. Additionally the narrow heel caused rubbing and splitting of skin around the bottom of the heel from narrow heel cup. At this point I had to send this back. Additionally, the toe box was a bit too narrow, which squeezed a bunion of mine. But the pros of this boot are my ankles felt stable in this, there was no forward or backward pistoning of the foot in the boot up and down hills (this probably from the narrow fit)..the bottoms were not as cushy as the plush sole on the Tor Summit ankle Hoka shoes (I have 2 pair of these), BUT it did have enough to be comfortable on the bottom of the feet for the miles I did wear it. I had no leg pain or knee inflammation (which I usually get). I did order a Toa to try., and am in the process of trying that one out. The comfort of the sole comparing the two is that this boot has a more cushy sole than the Toa. This would probably be a good boot for a narrow foot.

Do need to size up at least half a size. I have arthritis in left ankle so love mid height for any hiking/walking/dog trotting. This one delivers! Very supportive and responsive. Less foot fatigue. Love the colors too!

My runs are on: 30% boggy, uneven forest trails, 30% beach, 20% dirt road, 20% tarred road. I wanted a shoe that was 1) lightweight, 2) waterproof - so if I stepped in a boggy spot my socks weren't wet, and 3) high top - so they wouldn't fill with beach sand, and offered support amongst tree roots and rocks. The Speedgoat is everything I wished for! I love this shoe!

Recently retired from a 90% sitting, full-time job and I knew I needed to get up, out and about rather than vegetate in front of daytime TV. PLUS, my kids moved to Northern Michigan, surrounded by woods and trails that I want to explore with them when I visit. These shoes went on easily, right out of the box, out the door and to my first of so many daily hikes around our local parks and nature preserves! These shoes are supportive to my ankles, cushy to the foot, fit perfectly (I purchased my regular Size 9) and give me the stability I want when walking over rocks, gravel, tree twigs and small limbs. I also am happy that I can walk through wet grass in the morning or in a sudden rain, and not have my feet "drenched" through to my socks! I purposefully purchased the waterproof and I am extremely happy that I did. I recently badly broke my little toe, and I actually wear these when getting out to the grocery because no other shoe works to keep my toe stable and my foot pain free. One more VERY important thing is - my knees have not felt this healthy, functional, and pain free for a LONG, LONG time, which is a great incentive to get me up and going on my daily hike every day. Good-Bye Asics. . . .I HIGHLY recommend these HOKA's!!! OH! And, I really like the shoe-strings!

Did not really need to break these in at all. Very comfortable out of the box. Walked the neighborhood about 10 miles on flat surface before going to the mountains to hike. Felt great no fatigue or blisters. Plenty of room in the toe box. I have a narrow heel and they didn't slip around. The only thing missing is the gripping tab on the outside of the heel to make it easier to handle while putting the shoe on, especially with thicker hiking socks. Comfy even with my orthotics!

I tried several pairs of shoes and ended up with the speedgoat mids
Wp . Took them on a rocky terrain and they felt great! Love them so far. I will go long next time 10 miles or so to see if they hold up.
