I LOVE this bag! The shoulder straps are comfortable, especially after the sternum buckle is tightened and secured, and it keeps my back from getting all sweaty in the SC humidity. There are so many well thought out pockets that I hardly have to look at my bag when I retrieve an item! I use a 15" MacBook Pro and a 12.9" iPad Pro everyday for college and the computer sleeve is perfect! I was concerned that the tablet sleeve wouldn't work with the giant iPad, but it fits securely and perfectly placed so I don't have to look when I reach for it! The sunglasses pocket fits my Ray Bans case beautifully! The two front pockets are perfect for headphones, a small reading book, or a thin planner. There are pockets perfectly sized for my calculator, iClicker, phone, etc. inside the media pouch that have proved invaluable. One feature people seldom talk about is the little passageway in the right cup holder that lets you retrieve something stored inside. This is perfect for my dorm keys and car keys-it cuts out the need for me to take off my bag or use a clunky lanyard! The front handle lets me fling this bag into cars, onto golf carts, or up onto my bed without tearing a shoulder strap. I got the heather gray-coral, and it is beautiful! A lovely neutral that has just enough color to identify it as mine! I adore this bag, it is worth every penny! Both my roomate and my sister have gotten their own since I got mine, and they love theirs too!

I use this backpack for carrying all of my college textbooks, laptop, and everything else that I need to lug around for school. I love all of the compartments it has so that I can keep everything organized. The main compartment is large enough to carry my textbooks, and then you still have a large separate compartment for your laptop. The backpack doesn't feel too large and it seems so sturdy and durable in every aspect, even the zippers. Not to mention the color and design looks gorgeous.

Im a collegestudent so I carry my laptop, books and notebooks and whatever else I need in my backpack all day when walking from one side of campus to the other. The stuff can get pretty heavy so I'm always looking a backpacks that help take some of the stress off my shoulders and the additional straps do just that.

As someone with chronic back pain who walks to school daily and often has to carry large books, I need a good backpack. I love that this bag has a separate padded laptop compartment, and the main compartment is very spacious. The padding on the back is great. It doesn't make my shirts pill like some backpack padding. And having both sternum and hip straps is incredibly useful on days when I have heavy books. This will also make a great travel backpack, and I am so glad I invested in it.

I'm a teacher, and this backpack is perfect for hauling all of my school gear. I love how safe and secure the laptop sleeve is, and there is plenty of room in the main compartment for all of my books, binders, folders of papers, etc. The smaller pockets are well-engineered for convenience and practicality.

I needed a great backpack that could withstand the rigors of grad school and not look like it has suffered the indignities of abuse. This pack is the best -- everything I hoped for.

I am a loyal North Face backpack buyer! I have had the Recon, Surge (old design) and the Surge Transit.
This backpack is by far my #1 favorite!
Size:
I actually ordered the Women's Surge Transit as I replacement for my old Surge first but I ended up returning the Surge Transit (38 L) because I felt that it was too big for my size (I am 5'0).
When I saw this backpack in store, I knew it was the backpack that I really wanted! First, I thought it looked really cute when I saw it in person for the firs time. It didn't look too big for me at all (It is 31 L).
Design:
This new Surge design has a lot of resemblance to the old Surge design, but with many improved organizational slots and design. I like how they still retained the handle on the front but made it horizontal rather than vertical which is how the old Surge had it. I always thought the vertical handle on the front of the old Surge design looked a little awkward so I was really glad about this new design.
Organization:
I like how they added a compartment for a tablet! Because of that, I don't have to carry my thick iPad case anymore. In addition, they added a couple of zippered compartments inside the main zip compartments. Just little nice additions here and there.

I bought this backpack for my teenage daughter for school. It is top quality, and roomy enough for all of her school gear without being too bulky. Absolutely would purchase again!

I got this for college and it hasn't disappointed! I got the coral metallic/black one and it's simply stunning. The metallic is really pretty and the black is a great contrast. The bag is a lot roomier than I expected and bigger than it looks. There are a lot of pockets for smaller things such as pencils and my calculator. It holds my textbooks with no problems. Overall I wish the bag was a little lighter but the back has a lot support. Overall I am very happy with my purchase of this backpack.
