This is legitimately the most durable backpack ever made. I had the older version of the surge backpack (no longer on the website but very similar). Bought it freshman year of college, used it heavily all 4 years, then the subsequent 4 years in medical school, and also would use it as my main back for carry on when I was traveling (which was a lot). And the backpack literally still is in perfect shape, functionality wise. I'm so blown away I'm actually writing a review online. I just ordered this newer version because it looks a little tattered now, after almost 8-9 years of use, but honestly I can say Northface hands down makes the best backpacks. Before this one, I'd go thru them once a year. HIGHLY recommend for pretty much any function.

I had this backpack as full as possible almost all the time. I used it all 4 years of college with zero problems. The bag has been wonderful quality wise- I have never had a backpack last this long. It is comfortable and also the water resistance was great to have when walking across campus in the rain. I highly recommend this backpack and I plan on buying another one. Mine is still in perfect condition, but it is time for a change.

The pocket design on this backpack is amazing. I will put a ton of stuff in this backpack and there still seems to be more space. The only downside is the straps aren't as padded as my last north face, but they're still comfortable. Backpack is super durable.

I used this for school and it held lots of books and other personal items. Even though it was heavy, it is practical for every day.

I use this product everyday for school, traveling, and hiking. I can fit several books, laptop and iPad with no problem. The variety of pockets is helpful.

I love this backpack! I originally purchased it for the says I go on campus, bringing my laptop and all my textbooks to the library. But just came back from a 5-day trip with it. It is so roomy that I didn't need any other carry-on item! It was my first North Face purchase and I am Beyond satisfied with it!

This backpack is great I had the old surge backpack and used it for multiple years and it still looks brand new but I decided to upgrade to the new version and I love it. It is so cute! Great colors and quality!

I use this for school and it holds up very well

I'm a nursing student and this bag is amazing for holding everything I need for the day... laptop, books, workout gear, snacks and lunch. So many pockets for all my pens, markers, phone, keys, hand sanitizer, lotion. Plus I love its sleek, beautiful look.

I will be using this product for school. As a IB/AP student, I have a lot of books that I need to carry and my old backpack was way too small. The Surge backpack is able to hold all of my books and then some more! I'm very pleased overall! Best purchase I have ever made!

Just what my daughter wanted. We had an older version that held up well and my daughter liked, she was ready for a new version. Fabric looks just like on line photo.

I use my TNF for commuting to work , for taking my lunch, water , books , my laundry, and this and that stuff( a lady has STUFF.. lots of it ) I love the shoulder straps and the support it gives for an aching shoulder and back ! I love it already

My granddaughter has a lot of books and notebooks as well as a computer for college. The first one I bought was not big enough. She is so happy with all the room and convenient pockets and storage in the surge. It also fits high enough on her shoulders that it doesn't put weight on her lower back. It also looks good.

I needed a new backpack to use both for everyday and travel. This is a large backpack that can hold A LOT. I'd does have quite a few pockets, but I'm always looking for more. I found that my computer cords and accessories took up a lot of pocket space. But the main compartment is large and can easily hold a lot of books/clothing/etc. I love the soft straps. Straps that use that spongy frantic tends to tear up my shoulders when I wear tank tops. The new design is ideal and comfortable.

As a college student, my backpack kept ripping. I bought this backpack and everything fit in there perfectly. It has amazing storage, and it's great for school.

I use this as a one and done travel baggage to weekend get aways to the cottage and my carry on bag for air travel.

I am a nursing student and I need a sturdy backpack with a lot of pockets to carry my stuff. My 13 inch Apple MacBook Air fits perfectly and my iPad 12.9 inch in the padded compartment. I wish there is another compartment to fit my iPad right next to my laptop but they both fit together so that's fine with me. I do not hunch when I carry it and it can fit my books, chargers, and my stethoscope carrying bag and a cosmetic bag which I use as a pencil case. I love how I can put my coffee hydro flask on the side when I don't use it. I choose black because I usually put it in the floor when I'm in the classroom because there's no other space. I also like that it's water proof and has the perfect size. I also want to use this when I travel it's a very nice backpack. I bought a cheaper one before this same style but broke after 1 month. So I recommend spending for the backpack as an investment because it is sturdy and functional.

I love this product, my brother Owens one that's why I bought mine , he uses his in collage and boating.

I use this backpack for medical school and I absolutely love it. It is perfect for my commute by bicycle because of the waist and chest strap, as well as the comfortable shoulder straps. The pockets fit my large water bottles perfectly and there are so many perfect compartments to put my other school supplies. The backpack does not appear huge but it fits everything I need (two water bottles, food, gym clothes, lap top, notebooks). I enjoy the 3-part computer sleeve which fits my computer and ipad great and provides protective cushioning. There is nothing negative about this backpack. I can tell it is going to last me at years.

I have to carry lots of stuff in my backpack for work everyday. My computer, notebooks, papers to grade, extra gear for sports.. it all fits comfortably and everything has its own zipper pocket. Large pouches on the side for water bottles or my morning coffee. I really really love the two zipper pockets on the front. Everything is so organized!!
