I am writing comments several other reviewers have stated already: The knot on my instep hurts - puts too much pressure on that tender area (I have a high instep), Adjusting the knot did not help me. The heel strap is much too long for this shoe. With this length, the velcro does not help the strap stay put, it just slips down. The shoe is very cushy, but there is barely barely any arch support. They are very attractive though and the red is super cute.

I got these shoes because I saw a colleague of mine wearing them. We are teachers and are on our feet (on a slab floor) all day. They are what I wanted in terms of a "squishy" feeling shoe. I feel like I'm walking on a chef mat all day. However, as other reviewers have said, the knots on the top of the shoe are very uncomfortable to me. I turned them around, so that the seam of the knot is not touching my foot and that helps, but it's still a little uncomfortable.

The fit is great! It's a cute casual sandal and is mostly comfortable. My only complaint is the placement of the criss-cross on the foot; rubbed my foot causing irritation. I was able to move the piece that held the two cross straps together down further toward the side of my foot and that helped a lot.

my size is 7.5-8 and i don't have a wide foot but in my experience Clarks seem to run very small and narrow, so i ordered the 8 in Wide. it fits perfectly. these sandals are cute and comfortable but those small bands holding the straps together are just as bad as other reviewers say. they are sewn too thickly. i keep sliding the bands around hoping to get them to a comfortable position buy they dig into my feet no matter what. if i didn't like these sandals as much as i do, i would definitely return. but i'm going to keep them and will probably try replacing the bands with something less bulky, or maybe stitch them together? the comfort rating would be five stars, but i'm giving three stars because of those bands

The Clarks Area Promise sandals look good on my feet. Unfortunately the underside of the knots on the straps press into my feet and feel uncomfortable. The straps are all cloth and had no give to them. Returned both the black pair and the blue pair of sandals. If the sandals hurt when you put them on, then back they go.

I've got plenty compliments on these sandals, they look really chic and stylish, comfortable too. The reason i gave 3 stars is because of the bands they are really tight. I am surprised how tight they are specially that i do have thin feet, i would have returned them hadn't i travelled abroad, i had to wear them anyways. Other than the tight bands, they are really comfortable.

These shoes looked cute in the box. However, the wide width is quite narrow, and the straps are not stretchy at all, so there is no built-in leeway.

A lovely style with the cute fabric notes. I was pretty happy when I slipped on the right one and it was so comfortable. No pain from the knots as others reported. But the left shoe was tight. I have never known my feet the be different sizes. But just enough too small to be uncomfortable. Darn!

I really want to keep these shoes but unfortunately they run narrow. I ordered them a size larger, plus I ordered them in wide, and still my foot barely squeezes into them. The soles are very classic Cloudsteppers, very very cushy and comfortable. If your feet are narrow, order the regular width. If your feet are medium width, order extra wide. If your feet are wide like mine, you're out of luck. Clark's shoes I hope you're listening.

These run extremely narrow. I bought them one side larger plus in the "extra wide" width and they barely fit. Other than that, they are comfortable. Not sure whether I will keep them. I don't understand why Clark's would make a shoe in "extra wide" that is barely normal width.

Too narrow, I didn't care about checking anything else when a shoe is too narrow I don't pay attention to anything else. I don't know the arch support, I just felt toe pinch and it was over for me and the shoe. Once again disappointed. Here's a European shoe that says that it's a D width, but it fits like a C width. So irritated. I will have to send it back.

I really wanted to like these sandals. The sole feels amazing, soft and resilient, and my foot feels well supported. They are very cute too. BUT... the little wrap that holds the top-of-the-foot straps together rubs awfully on the top of my foot. Within 5 minutes of walking around my house, I have two big marks on my instep. I considered cutting the little offending bugger off , but decide to return and find something that works with my feet better. If you are not sensitive on the tops of your feet , by all means try them.

The problem was the heel strap. It wasn't long enough to securely grip the velcro unless it was pulled so tight that my foot was pushed forward.

The shoes are cute but made small. Had to return them.

Fit was too long and wide so big and sloppy on me. The shade of red really wasn't that cute. Returned.

I purchased this item for some upcoming trips where I’d be walking a lot. I wanted something that would offer a little style with arch support. Unfortunately, the straps across the top of my foot had no stretch so they didn’t fit comfortably. The foot bed is very cushy and supportive however. I did return them.

I REALLY-REALLY wanted to keep these sandals. Very cute, very cushy, the navy is a perfect, dark navy. But I could not get my feet under those instep straps and keep them there for more than a few seconds. There is no adjustment. The straps are fabric, so should have a little give, but there's NONE. I wear a 10M and this style was true to length with no toe or heel hangover. The foot bed width was fine for a medium width. The straps were my problem and could have been about half an inch longer -- and adjustable. Unfortunately, they are going back. I have a slightly high instep, but have rarely run into a foot strangling problem like this, so, high instep people, be warned. Looks like I could try a wide width to get some more room, but I have never worn a wide shoe before in my life. Guess I'll see. Totally cute enough to give it a try.

I purchased these for a friend with high arches. If you have high arches these sandals are not for you, even if you order in wide to compensate. The straps don't have much give and it is difficult to slide your foot through. These sandals are gorgeous and look comfortable. My only issue was the high arches. Unfortunately, couldn't keep these.

First time I bought this sandal !! I tried on a pair in a shoe store and realized it ran narrow . I also had to buy a size larger. With that being said I do like this sandal . Could wear them all day . I have tender feet and these were so comfortable. The style is so cute. I am not sure I would order this brand again. Even though they are great and I would definitely recommend them. However for me and my feet I'm fitflops all the way !

Super cute on but can't adjust toe strap and it is too big for my sized medium foot. Will have to send back and give it a 3 for the overall rating.

I wanted to like these so much, but the top strap was way too tight for my foot. My feet are kinda fat, but I was hoping the wides would have roomier straps. They had to go back. If you've got wide and fat feet, these aren't the shoes you're looking for.

I was totally disappointed with the fit. I have a high instep and these were very tight across my foot. Because they are fabric, I wore them out assuming they would stretch a bit. That did not happen. After two hours my feet were killing me. It took over four hours for the dents in my upper foot to disappear.

This shoes are super cute! So much so that I ignored the reviews stating that the straps are too tight. The sole fit my foot perfectly but the rest of the shoe is just to snug. The back Velcro strap could be a little longer: I could barley get it around the back of my foot for even a little "latching". After wearing them around the house for a while, I had to take them off. The straps had left marks across the tops of my feet. I'm going to return, though MAYBE a 1/2 size larger would help.

I wanted to like these -- but they were unusually narrow and the placement of the bands made it appear that my little toe had been amputated. Horrible!
