Pros: good grip, lightweight, comfortable.
Cons: durability is not too great. Toe cap seems to loosen easily.

These boots are heavy, and warm. I bought these last winter and used them to hike the mountains in Arizona that had several inches of snow. They had great grip and kept my feet warm. I will use these again next winter.

I like them, but Zappos sent the wrong size. I ordered a 9, got a 9.5. It came in an unmarked recycled box so I’m guessing the size wasn’t represented well. Hopeful for the correct size, I really like these boots!

Bought my first pair of these about a month ago, have been on a few hikes in them now. No break in time needed, super comfortable. About as waterproof as I could ask, they did get a bit wet after a 6 hour day on soggy ground and in rain, but I suspect anything would have been overwhelmed. My one complaint is the sole doesn't seem as grippy on smooth/wet rock as vibram soles do. On screen and loose dirt they're great, but just don't feel 100% on slick rock. Otherwise no complaints!

Have had these for about a month and am still working them in-- have worn them at least 5 days a week since. Boot was a little larger than normal for my size and I will have to get an insole to prevent blistering on my back heels. I survey through some pretty undesirable conditions (dead and down trees, logging slash, creeks, brushy manzanita) and the rigidity of this boot is easily appreciated as they prevent ankle injuries and my feet stay completely dry. A little heavy for me on the trail; I have taken them on a few backpacking trips and they provide amazing support on longer days. All in all a great, versatile boot.

Felt very comfy until I started walking any distance. Have been on chemotherapy so was unable to return/exchange them so too much time has passed. Really disappointed as have bought Saloman in the past and loved them.

I ordered these boots a size bigger to wear with heavy socks during winter hiking, and they felt like one size bigger. These boots are so tall and stiff that they rubbed my ankles. I would not have been able to comfortably wear them long enough to break them in. The description says that the shaft is 6 1/2" and they are all of that, if not more. A lower shaft would have fit me a lot better. They are a very attractive boot, but sadly, they were returned.

After much research and review I purchased these boots in my usual size, even though many reviews said you needed to size up. Unfortunately, these boots purchased at my normal size are too big. Even after pulling out the liners and inserting my medical prescription orthodics, today when I was hiking some steep downhills, I could feel my feet slipping forward in the shoe - clear indication that they are too big. Otherwise, I think they are a good sturdy boot that lace up and secure nicely.

Absolutely disappointment! Bought these for a trip to Patagonia, as we were intending to hike a lot. Ended up unable to walk from pain after day 1. The back of the shoe is so rigid, it digs right into your heel. I ended up with wounds and was unable to put on the shoes ever again. I gave them another try on another trip thinking that maybe it's just because it was new. Ended up in the same situation! Also, the front does not close properly. Definitely would not recommend to buy

I've bought these shoes online during pandemic. As I've been wearing Salomon shoes for years I bought a pair of shoes in my normal size. For the first time the does are much bigger. Initially I thought I will manage but now I know it was a bad idea. I'm really disappointed as I've put much faith in this brand and didn't think that the sizing can be so wrong. The boots are good for wet conditions. Unfortunately they restrict the movement of my foot and cause painful
hamstrings' injuries after walking for over 2 hours , especially up and down hills.Experience not worth the price of shoes and wrong sizing causing reputation damage to my favourite brand.

Fits very large and also feels rather clunky / heavy. Sort of like a ski boot fit. Very surprised how large it fits as I have another pair of hiking boots from the same brand that fit entirely differently (much smaller and narrower..)

I want to love these boots and they are my second pair, but it's difficult to feel the love with wet feet. My first pair leaked like a sieve and thought it was just my bad luck, but this second pair is the same. Even with waterproof rain pants over gators, my feet are swimming in water in no time, plus it takes days for them to dry out. They are reasonably comfortable and are the widest boot I have found....hence the second pair. They are suitable for dry conditions but are not suitable for wet conditions.
Overall, I'm disappointed with these boots.

I have owned this model ever since the first year of release and I have gone through many pairs of these boots but they never seem to last me beyond a year.
There are always major issues with abrasion from the shoe laces on the tongue and the thin ankle padding always rips through from the side abrasion of the tongue.
I have had the new model with the new modifications but the same issues persist, in fact they are now worse. Two weeks into the wearing the boots and abrasion marks are showing already, the grip on the outer sole is still shocking poor in the wet and the laces are long so long they would service another pair of boots if you don't trip on them and kill yourself first. Things are not looking good for this supposedly updated boot.
I continue to wear the boots because they are the only boots that fit my very narrow heels otherwise I would never buy a pair for the money ever again.
If you are an avid walker/hiking you will not get the wear out of these but the occasional walker they will last you a lot longer.
Comfort, they are bang on the money and being comfortable straight out of the box, also if you have wider feet these work well. Thats is where the pro's end for me.
Sizing I am a 5 in shoes and a 5.5 in any boots and the 5.5 is a good fit with a sockliner and thinner outer sock or one big thick sock. Half a size bigger than your shoe size is ample for anyone who doesn't want crushed toes or sliding feet inside the shoe. The first versions of this newer model the last over the forefoot was very tight and I could not fit into any size but they have clearly gone back to the original sizing which is spot on.
I am still waiting for some "real" improvements to combat the issues with these boots but I might be waiting some time.
