I bought these shoes based on reviews, so I had high hopes, but they were not comfortable. I like the cushiony heel -- that's the only part of the shoe that felt good. The toe box was a bit narrow and when I put them on to walk around the living room, I wanted them off right away. The arch support hit in the wrong place and the whole shoe felt uncomfortable. The insole is very thin and doesn't look as though it would last. I know a lot of people put in their own insoles, but when you pay $140 for a pair of shoes, I think they should have a decent long-lasting insole in them to start out with. And the tongue isn't gusseted which is important here in the desert SW where there's lots of sand on the trails. So, it's back to the search for a decent hiking shoe that is comfortable.

I was very disappointed when I put the shoes on! The fit feels very narrow and I've never bought wide size shoes; also, it felt as though the arch support was further back toward the heel. I had no option than to return these shoes.

NOT water proof! This shoe is very comfortable and looks great on my feet. As many other reviews stated, the shoe was a half size too large. I ALWAYS wear a 5.5 and was shocked that the shoe was too large. I was lucky that it came in a size 5, so I returned the first pair and ordered the 5 and it fits great. These shoes however are NOT water proof which I am very disappointed in. I am a horse trainer and I am constantly walking through wet grass and wet conditions in general. I have had several pairs of waterproof Merrills and another pair of waterproof Salomons with no problems. My first day walking through the wet grass with my new Salomons was heart crushing when I immediately felt my feet getting wet. I kept the shoes because they are comfortable and I can use them on dry days.

I owned two pairs of Salomon hiking boots and love them. But this one is different. Its mush narrower. Why salomon changed their design. Please bring back the same design as old Ellipse hiking shoes.

I liked the design and treads but needed more arch support.

My first attempt at Salomons. The fit was long and narrow. And the height hit my ankle bones in an uncomfortable way.

HUGE. This is mens sizing or a major problem with these Salomon hiking shoes.
