First few short (around 5 mile) hikes with these were amazing. I have really high arches and it felt super supportive. I also have a narrow heel and wide toes and everything fit great... Until it didn't. After taking these to Utah for 8 days of hiking- by day 5/6 (45-50 miles) feet felt horrible, blister on my left big toe, bruised toenails and for the first time ever- bone spur on my heel. Also the tongue of the shoe was difficult to keep in place and they became loose often. However, since theses shoes have the best arch support of any hiking shoe I've ever worn I'm willing to give them another chance in the wide version. Would be great if they came in more colors.

Bought these and wore around house fist. Seemed ok and the did short walk ok flat, felt like toes touching side of boots at end (despite being well long enough - can easily get 2 fingers down back when unlaced). Tried on short (3 mile) slightly hilly walk. Agony - big toes being pushed in from side on any slight descent as toe box not wide enough. I have owned about 10 pairs of Salomon boots and trainers and never had this problem before. The last on these just seems to be too tapered. Unwearable. Expensive mistake

I have been very happy with my Salomon X Ultra 3 Mid GTX. They required very little breaking in, have excellent ankle support and are comfortable with my high arches. I have found them to be a little warm on hot hikes due to the gortex but I expected this. One huge disappointment is that they are not waterproof at all. I was hiking and a moderate storm rolled in. My boots were squishing wet and immediately took on water. Surprisingly because of the great fit they did not rub or cause any issues despite this. However, it has been 6 days and my boots have been drying outside in the hot summer sun and are still wet. I am very disappointed in this performance.

I returned these. Had adequate toe room. I don't think manufacturers make insoles to be used but to be tossed and replaced with one of your own. I need extra arch support and I supinate (roll to the outside) and have custom insoles anyway. I have two pairs of insoles, one being thicker and more cushioned and even with them, my heel and ankles were loose. Might work better for someone else. Regarding my insoles, with using my thicker orthodics and a thinner weight sock, I still had OK toe room. If I needed to put on a heavier weight sock for winter I would use my thinner orthodic instead. I'm a women's size 11M. Also ordered and am returning inov-8 Roclite 346 GTX (mens and womens sizes) and Keen Terradora II Mid WP. On the fence on Columbia Newton Ridge (the cheapest and not my first preference; I stopped buying Columbia years ago!).

Bonjour,
Cordialement,
Christophe

I bought these boots in November 2019 for our trip to Alaska in August. I have been wearing them to break them in. Very comfortable but now the right boot started to make a clicking/popping noise. Can you help!

I bought these boots a year ago for hiking in Peru and they were great for the climbs involved over those three days. However, they have let me down on the West Highland Way. This was the first time they have been worn in the rain and within 20 minutes, my feet were soaked through the toe. I would expect to need to re-waterproof them after a bit, but not this soon. As well, they are not very forgiving on rocky/cobbled terrain.

The Solomon boots seemed like sturdy, well made boots. Unfortunately, it had a serious arch support built into the boot that hit me in the wrong location, back toward my heel. I tried removing the insole and replacing it with my own and it did not solve the problem. Returned them.

These shoes are really light weight and felt comfortable in width. Unfortunately I had to return them. The shoes as broke right across my toe nail when walking. It has to do with the design of the lacing as it extends further up the towards the front of the foot.

I like the look of this shoe and the ease of lacing up. I wear narrow 9's usually. The laces let my tightens this hiker well but the length was off, by half.

Ok...I bought them and kept them because they felt good and supportive out of the box. Out on my hike I felt an odd sensation on my right foot/arch almost like my sock kept slipping down and bunching up. I kept fiddling with the laces and found it was some part of the arch/insole on the shoe that was protruding into my arch. My left foot is great however. My feet are a little more than a half size apart in size and this might be a case of waiting to work out the boot, however it may also be a manufacturing defect. At any rate I am out 165 bucks because they felt great on in the house and didn’t show their true Colors until about 3 miles into a wet walk.

My heels lifted up with each step, although the toes were in the correct place. They felt a little big overall as well. Loved the color and wished that they fit...but sadly, not.

Order size 7C, width and length fine. However, I'm returning them because of very intrusive arch support--made the bottoms of my feet hurt. Note: this is a true hiking boot, completely rigid with adequate toe box.

I purchased these to replace my worn out Asolos. I purchased these because I wanted a lightweight hiking boot and the Salomon X Ultra was rated in the top 10. Ordered an 8.5 in the shadow/castor gray. Loved the color and style of this boot, but it was very narrow in the heel. Felt pressure on the side of my foot. The toe box has plenty of room. I order a 9 and had the same problem and my orthotics would not fit in the narrow heal. Sadly I had to return both.

Purchased in April, 4 months later mesh on top of shoe started splitting open. I've been wearing exclusively salomon running and hiking shoes for the last 20+ years. Hoping this was just a bad pair rather and that the shoes aren't all getting cheaper

I've worn Salomon boots for years and had to switch to another style when the Quest Prime GTX (best boot ever!) disappeared. The X Ultra 3 was so comfortable at first that I bought a second pair just in case they disappeared too. I'm very disappointed in the X Ultra 3 boot. After about 50 miles, the boots feel flimsy; I feel every rock and root underfoot. The worst is that there is absolutely no grip on the soles. I've slipped on all sorts of surfaces and have no confidence that my feet will stick. I will be returning the extra pair. Several friends have switched to these boots and have the same comments. Please bring back the Quest Prime GTX!

I bought these hiking boots about a year ago because in the store they felt like they had great support and I loved the look of them, as well as having read several good reviews on them. After wearing them for several hiking trips and day hikes I have to say they are not very comfortable Even when wearing thick mid calf socks these boots bruise the inside of my ankles. Additionally, after about 20 minutes of walking in these boots the bottom of my feet, mainly on the ball of my foot kills. Lastly, one of the most frustrating things about these boots is the lacesthey do not stay tied no matter how good of a knot, double knot, etc. you do. They come undone after walking in less than a mile. Also, after wearing these just ONE time the neon accents on the sides of the boot already ripped in 2 different places.

Too large. Usually wear an 8 but felt they were a little small so ordered 8.5. Too big. I have worn Salomons for years and love them. Havre to figure something out.

I have a love, hate relationship with these boots. I love that they work well with my wide, high maintenance feet. I've worn them for 50+ miles without blisters or sore feet. I hate that there is absolutely no ankle support. Regardless of how you tie these, there just isn't proper support. And the laces slip, so I am retying them every 2 miles or so. Very annoying. Since I can't get them tight enough around the ankles, they gap at the top allowing debris to get into my boot. Overall, I'm disappointed.
